Three news item from Kh. Suqrat Correspondent at Chakwal

CHAKWAL Nov 14: Two real brothers along with three other persons opened
fire on a young man of 30 years of age and murdered him at village Sarkalan
in the area of Kallar Kahar police station some 50 kilometer from here. The
deceased Akhtar S/O. Feroze Khan was a close relative of the accused and he
went to collect money from the accused that was land by him to them. Akhtar
exchanged hot words with the accused which got them infuriated and they
started firing on Akhtar with kalashankove, 8 MM rifle, 30 bore pistol, 7MM
rifle and 12 bore gun, resulting killing Akhtar on the spot. The accused
were Muhammad Musthaq his brother Ghulam Murtaza S/o. Dost Muhammad,
Muhammad Zubair and his father Muhammad Aslam and Sher Zaman fled away from
the scene after killing Muhammad Akhtar. Kallar Kahar police told that
deceased Muhmmad Akhtar was required by the police in another murder case
and Akhtar was managed to make good his escape from the scene and he was at
hiding. Kallar Kahar police registered a case and started investigation.

CHAKWAL Nov 14: Choa Saiden Shah and Kallar Kahar police in six different
operations recovered elicit arms and good quantity of charas from the
accused and arrested them. Choa Saiden Shah police during the patrol
arrested Mudassar Hameed S/o. Abdul Razzaq resident of village Pidh and
recovered 145 gram charas from him. Police also nabbed Umar Khan S/o.
Abdullah Khan resident of district Mianwali from village Dalwal, a 30 bore
pistol and 3 bullets were recovered from him and during investigation police
also recovered 1 thousand gram charas from him. Choa Saiden Shah police also
arrested Hameed Ullah S/o. Sher Dil resident of Dera Ismail Khan and 30 bore
pistol and 4 bullets were recovered from him. In the mean time Kallar Kahar
police during the investigation of a murder case of village Bahaal, Sub
Inspector Muhammad Ashraf recovered 30 bore pistols from Arshad Mehmood S/o.
Ghulam Shabbir and a 30 bore pistol and two bullets from another accused
Muhammad Islam S/o. Baz Khan. Police have registered separate cases against
the accused and sent them in the judicial lockup.

CHAKWAL Nov 14: The election of District Naib Nazim and four Tehsil Naib
Nazmeen was gaining momentum and it would be contested between General
Majeed Malik group and District Nazim group, who already contested the local
bodies election, despite both of them belonged to ruling party Pakistan
Muslim League. District Nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas have a majority in
district council as well as three tehsil councils. However Malik Saleem
Iqbal group ally of General Majeed Malik group was in majority in Tehsil
Council Talagang. The election schedule of this election is likely to be
announced by election commission of Pakistan in next few days and it would
be held in houses with secrete ballots.

    CHAKWAL Nov 16: A young girl was crushed to death at Chakwal Jhelum road
    near village Dhuman and wagon driver was fled away from the scene. Ali
    Asghar S/o. Nawab Khan resident of Dhoke Rajian lodged a report in Dhuman
    police station that he along with his family was standing on the road side
    and waiting for transport when a speedy wagon no. K-1200 appeared on the
    scene and hit his daughter Umrah Asghar and killing her on the spot. Dhuman
    police registered the case against he unknown wagon driver and starting
    searching him.

    CHAKWAL Nov 16: The medical officer and his wife women medical officer of
    Rural Health Center Dhuman have submitted their resignation under protest
    for not proceeding against the dispenser of the centre. Dr. Sheryar
    recommended action against dispenser Tauqeer Haider Shah as the dispenser
    was caught red handed as he was increasing the wound of an injure person
    that was brought by the police at Rural Health Center for medical report.
    Dispenser Taruqeer Haider wanted to have a stronger FIR against his opponent
    and 2.5 centimeter wound was increased up to 4.5 centimeter. The high up of
    the health department Distt. Chakwal was reluctant to move against the
    dispenser, therefore Dr. Sheryar and his wife Ghazala resign from their
    offices under protest.

    CHAKWAL Nov 16: The seventh accused involved in the murder of cable
    operator Mirza Dilshad was declared innocent by City Police Chakwal,
    therefore the accused Pir Abdul Sattar Nadeem S/o. Muhammad Ismail who was
    granted an interim bail by additional district and session judge Chakwal Mr.
    Sohail Nasir, with drew his application from the court on Wednesday. The eye
    witnesses and injured persons, the elder brother of deceased who were
    present on the sight of murder, unanimously told the police that Pir Abdul
    Sattar Nadeem S/o. Muhammad Islam was present on the occasion as he was
    nominated in the FIR. The victim’s relatives protested against the behavior
    of police and they vowed to move the high handedness of police to IG and
    Lahore High Court.

    CHAKWAL November 19: Additional District and Session Judge Chakwal Sohail
    Nasir on Saturday awarded death sentence to an accused for four times in a
    famous murder case of village Shah Pur Saidan of Dhuman Police Station,
    while the co-accused his brother Hamid Shah and father Molazam Shah were
    acquitted by giving them the benefit of the doubt. According to the
    prosecution Kazim Shah, Hamid Shah and Moulazam Hussain armed with pistols
    stormed into two houses on 9th January 2005 at night time and they had
    murdered Khadim Hussain Shah and Brain Fatima in a house and then they went
    to another house and had killed Ghulam Sakina and her daughter Misbah
    Batool. There was an old enmity between the two families and they were close
    relatives with each other. The judge after hearing the arguments from both
    sides, awarded capital punishment for four times to Kazim Shah, while the
    two co-accused were acquitted.

    CHAKWAL November 19: Chakwal police in four different operations arrested
    four accused and recovered illicit arms and narcotics from them. Choa Saiden
    Shah police arrested Nasir Mehmood resident of village Wahali Zer and
    recovered 32 bore pistol from him, while the same police recovered 105 gram
    charars from Bashir Hussain resident of village Mial. Neela police nabbed
    Shafqat Mehmood resident of village Mangwal and 30 bore pistol was recovered
    from him. While Neela police also arrested Abid Hussain S/o. Nazar Hussain
    resident of village Warwal and 32 bore revolver was recovered from him.
    Police have registered separate cases against the accused and they were sent
    into the judicial lockup.

    CHAKWAL November 19: District Nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas under
    section 144 prohibited the entry of undesired persons within 100 yards limit
    of examination centers during the examination of PTC, B.Ed, C.T., Matric,
    F.A., B.A., B.Sc., B.IT, B.B.A and Post Gradate courses. However the bearer
    of roll no slips and the staff appointed for examination center would be
    exempted.

    CHAKWAL November 20: Additional District and Session judge Chakwal Sohail
    Nasir awarded capital punishment to an accused Mohammad Jahangir resident of
    village ChakUmra of sadder police station Chakwal involved in a sexual
    assault and a murder to a 12 years old girl. The accused was also fined RS 1
    lac and this amount if recovered will be paid to the legal heirs of the
    deceased. According to the prosecution dumb accused Mohammad Jahanger after
    sexually assaulting Samina strangulated her to death. The challan was
    presented by the police in August 2005 and the judge in its 4 hearing dates
    announced the judgment. The judge also hired the services of teaching staff
    of deaf and dumb school Chakwal for the assistance of the dumb accused.

    CHAKWAL November 20: District Police Officer Chakwal Ch. Mushtaq Hussain
    Barqatt transferred SHO of Sadar Police Station Chakwal Malik Sondha Khan to
    district police line Chakwal and in his place Ch. Asar Ali PCS Inspector and
    SHO of City Police Station Talagang was appointed new SHO of Sadar Police
    Station Chakwal, while inspector Abdul Sattar was appointed new SHO of city
    police station Talagang. In the mean time Safdar Hussain Sub Inspector was
    appointed incharge of Buchal Kalan police check post. It is likely that some
    more transfers of police officials would be made in the next few days.

    CHAKWAL November 20: Chakwal District was a Polio Free since 1999, however
    still 3 day Polio drive would be observed in district Chakwal and the Polio
    vaccine drops would be given to the children below the age of five years
    from 22 to 24th November. This was stated by EDO Health District Chakwal Dr.
    Muhammad Iqbal Kahout during a press briefing. He told that 1 Lac 68
    thousand and 341 children would be vaccinated during this drive and 381
    mobile teams have been constituted. He further told that 16 zonal
    supervisor, 72 area incharge, 37 transit teams would be available in
    different 86 basic health units and other hospitals through out the
    district.

    CHAKWAL November 22: City Police Chakwal arrested two traders for giving
    fake checks and they were dishonored by the bank. Amar Farooqi S/o. Ikram
    Farooqi a local fruit merchant gave rupees 9 lac to a trader Muhammad Yameen
    S/o. Yawar Hussain resident of Sarafa Bazar Chakwal and Muhammad Yameen gave
    a check of rupees 9 lac and when it was presented to the bank for cash it
    was dishonored and their was no amount in the account of Muhammad Yameen. In
    the mean time another check of rupees 1 lac 70 thousand that was given by
    Malik Naeem S/o. Muhammad Yaseen resident of Moti Bazar Chakwal to Amar
    Farooqi and it was too dishonored from the bank. Muhammad Amar Farooqi
    lodged complaint in the city police station and two separate cases were
    registered against the accused and they were arrested by the police.

    CHAKWAL November 22: Mahmood Mariam Trust would disburse rupees 70 thousand
    cash among the needy and intelligent students of Govt. Post Graduate College
    Chakwal on its silver jubilee distribution of funds. This was stated by
    Chairman Mahmood Mariam Trust Brig. (R) Khawaja Tariq Mahmood when he called
    on principal Govt. Post Graduate College Chakwal Prof. Aziz-ur-Rehman at his
    office. Trusty Khawaja Babar Saleem Mahmood was also present on this
    occasion. The chairman Brig. Tariq further told that these funds are
    available to the principal and it would be disburse with in a month among
    the needy students of the college. The principal lauded the role of Mahmood
    Mariam Trust which was providing financial assistance to the needy students
    of the college in this remote area. He further told that more then rupees 7
    lac have been distributed among the students from the last 25 years by
    Mahmood Mariam Trust and various poor students were benefited by the trust
    and now they were serving the country in different departments. The chairman
    trust told that annual meeting and function of distribution of funds would
    be held in the next month at the college hall.

    CHAKWAL November 22: Chakwal police in four different operations have
    nabbed four accused and recovered illicit arms and narcotics from them.
    Dhuman police recovered 120 gram charas from Ghulam Yaseen S/o. Muhammad
    Nasar resident of village Kharali while a 30 bore pistol was recovered by
    Dhuman police from Muhammad Fiyaz S/o. Muhammad Riaz resident of Shah Pur
    Saidan and 30 bore pistol was recovered by Dhuman police from Babar Sultan
    S/o. Sultan Mehmood resident of village Pari Darviza. In the mean time Neela
    police arrested Mazhar Hussain S/o. Sikhandar Khan, resident of village
    Bhagwal and recovered 22 bore pistol from him. Police have registered
    separate cases against the accused and they were sent into the judicial
    lockup.

    CHAKWAL November 23: The president of Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhary
    Shujahat Hussain and senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League had a
    telephone contact with each other and Ch. Shujahat Hussain expressed his
    complete ignorance regarding a news item published in a section of press
    quoting Ch. Shujahat Hussain that General Majeed Malik resign as senior vice
    president of Pakistan Muslim League has been expected. Ch. Shujahat Hussain
    categorically denied this news item. Later on General Majeed Malik while
    talking to the newsman on Wednesday told that he was Muslim Leaguer since
    1985 and he was the senior most Muslim Leaguer and had served Pakistan
    Muslim League in different capacity in national level, as well as made
    District Chakwal a strong fort of Pakistan Muslim League and Pakistan Muslim
    League won all the six general elections since 1985 with absolute majority.
    General Majeed Malik was of the view that some vested interest of District
    Chakwal wanted to capture Pakistan Muslim League and he feared that these
    peoples were behind the disinformation regarding the acceptance of
    resignation of General Majeed Malik. It is worth mentioning that on
    Wednesday afternoon another disinformation regarding the death of General
    Majeed Malik in Chakwal City was spread and people were asking each other
    about the confirmation, however General Majeed Malik on 15:30 hours told
    this correspondent on telephone from Islamabad that he was all well, however
    he went to hospital earlier for a routine medical checkup.

    CHAKWAL November 23: DIG Rawalpindi Range Syed Murawat Hussain Shah
    directed District Police Officer Chakwal to hold an open investigation of
    the murder case of cable operator Mirza Dilshad Ahmed and DPO him self
    supervise the investigation. DIG passed this order on the written
    application of Mirza Waliat Khan the father of the deceased cable operator.
    Mirza Waliat Khan on his petition contented that Chakwal Police was siding
    the accused and the main accused Pir Abdul Sattar Nadeem S/o. Muhammad
    Ismail who was the master mind of the murder of his son was declared
    innocent by the city police Chakwal, despite the seven eye witnesses and
    three injured persons recorded their statements before the investigation
    officer and confirmed that all the seven accused nominated in the FIR was
    present at the time of occurrence.

    CHAKWAL November 23: City police Chakwal arrested three persons including
    a women for merry-making with each others. Sub inspector Khizar Hayat raided
    a deserted place and found Muhammad Iltaf resident of Joya Mair, Allah Ditta
    resident of Minwal and Mrs. Mushaba Bi resident of New Abadi Chak Nourang
    and they were hugging with each other at public place. Police after
    registering a case sent all the three accused into judicial lockup.

    CHAKWAL November 24: Police should refer non-cognizable offence to the
    union nazmeen therefore the load of work of pressure on police should be
    lesser and police should pay its full attention to maintain law and order
    and elimination of crimes from the society. This was stated by District
    Nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas on Thursday while presiding over the
    meeting of law and order situation of District Chakwal. Tehsil Nazim Chakwal
    Sardar Aftab Akbar, Tehsil Nazim Kallar Kahar Pir Sajid Hussain Shah, Tehsil
    Nazim Talagang Malik Saleem Iqbal, DCO Chakwal Dr. Azam Saleem, DPO Chakwal
    Ch. Mushtaq Husstain Barqatt and all the DSP’s of district Chakwal also
    attended the meeting. District Nazim warned those Government doctors who
    were issuing fake medical legal certificate and he also directed SHO’s of
    police station for immediate registration of cases when the occurrence was
    held. Tehsil Nazim Chakwal Sardar Aftab Akbar proposed that traffic and
    encroachment was the main problem of Chakwal city and it required serious
    attention. Tehsil Nazim Talagang Malik Saleem Iqbal was of the view that
    justice is to be ensured to common man. DCO Chakwal suggested that the wagon
    and bus stands inside the city should be transferred to the municipal
    general bus stand, so that the load of the traffic should be controlled
    inside the city. District Nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas further told that the
    meeting of law and order should be held every month.

    CHAKWAL November 24: District Police Officer Chakwal Ch. Mustaq Hussain
    Barqatt on Thursday appointed ASP Sadar circle Chakwal to investigate the
    Mirza Dilshad Ahmed cable operator murder case and investigation was
    transferred to him. This order was passed by him on the direction of DIG
    Rawalpindi range as the father of deceased cable operator Mirza Waliat Khan
    moved and application and contented that Chakwal police declared the main
    culprit of the case Pir Abdul Sattar Nadeem innocent and he has no
    confidence on the police as it was siding with the accused and he feared
    that the case would be spoiled. DIG Rawalpindi range directed DPO Chakwal
    that he should himself supervise the investigation to ensure justice to the
    petitioner.

    CHAKWAL November 24: The senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League
    Lt. General (R) Abdul Majeed Malik on Thursday visited old historic Chappar
    Bazar Chakwal and he was welcomed by the traders. The rumor of the death of
    General Majeed Malik was spread by some miscreants on Wednesday and the
    whole Chakwal City was in panic and the General Majeed Malik was in
    Islamabad at that time. General Majeed Malik immediately rushed to Chakwal
    and decided to pay a visit to the trader’s community. General Majeed Malik
    while talking to traders was of the view that two days ago the news item
    quoting Ch. Shujahat Hussain the president of Pakistan Muslim League was
    published in some news papers that his resignation was accepted and he was
    no more the senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League and later on Ch.
    Shujahat Hussain denied that news item and told that he was falsely
    implicated and he has given no statement against General Majeed Malik.
    General Majeed Malik assured the people that he would continue to play its
    political role for the betterment of people of District Chakwal.

    CHAKWAL December 1: Additional District & Session Judge Chakwal Muhammad
    Akram Awan directed SHO of Neela Police Station to register a case against
    the accused for providing fake checques to a trader. The trader Ghulam
    Murtaza S/o. Fateh Muhammad resident of village Bhagwal in his petition
    contented that he had sold ground-nuts to Muhammad Afzal S/o. Muhammad Fazal
    resident of Dab road Chakwal and Muhammad Afzal gave two checques of rupees
    1 million and rupees 7 lac to him. When these checques was presented at MCB
    Bhagwal branch, checques were dishonored as there was no amount in the bank.
    The judge after hearing the arguments from both sides, ordered to register
    the case against the accused.

    recovery of illicit arms, nabbed 8 accused and recovered a good quantity of
    illicit arms from them. City police Chakwal arrested Jawad Ali S/o. Abdul
    Majeed resident village Dhoke Kala Khan and 32 bore revolver and 5 bullets
    were recovered from him. Dhuman Police arrested Ali Qadar S/o. Khushi
    Muhammad resident of Lohesar and 32 bore revolver and 2 bullets were
    recovered from him. Sadar Police Chakwal arrested Sakhawat Hussain S/o.
    Amanat Khan resident of village Dhab Pari and 30 bore revolver was recovered
    from him. While Sadar Police also arrested Imran Raza S/o. Ali Raza resident
    of village Balkassar and 30 bore revolver was recovered from him. Dhudial
    police nabbed 3 accused Lal Hussain S/o. Karam Dad, Muhammad Iqbal S/o.
    Fazal Ahmed resident of village Sarkaal Kasar and Rehmat Ali S/o. Khan
    Muhammad resident of Phalia and recovered 30 bore pistol, 12 bore gun and 30
    bore pistol respectively from them. In the meantime Choa Saiden Shah police
    arrested Tanveer S/o. Muhammad Aslam resident of village Dalwal Road and 30
    bore pistol was recovered from him. Police have registered separate cases
    against the accused and sent them into judicial lockup.

    CHAKWAL December 1: An Ex. Nazim of Union Council Padshahan and two other
    were booked by Dhudial Police on Thursday for selling Utility Store Sugar
    bags unlawfully. Police was informed that Ex. Nazim Muhammad Shafiq Ranjha
    has sold 40 bag of Sugar to two person Zafar Iqbal and Khalid Mehmood
    resident of village Dorey. The two accused loaded the Sugar bags in a pickup
    IDT-9404 and when it was checked by Dhudial Police, they were caught red
    handed and they told that they have purchased these Sugar bags from Muhammad
    Shafique Ranjha. Police was searching Muhammad Shafique Ranjha who fled away
    from the scene after the incident.

    CHAKWAL December 4: Mr. Khalid Saleem was appointed new Executive
    District Officer Revenue Chakwal and he was working as District Officer
    Revenue Pak Patan and this vacancy was lying vacant from the last many
    months. DOR Chakwal Malik Qayoum Awan was transferred as EDO Revenue
    District Rajan Pur, While Dy. District Officer Revenue Talagang Malik Ghulam
    Rabbani was directed to report at Lahore. In the meantime Mr. Javed Iqbal
    was appointed new Assistant Election Officer District Chakwal and he was
    posted from Rawalpindi. This vacancy was also lying vacant since many
    months.

    would be held on 5th December and it was arranged by Majeed Malik Foundation
    Chakwal. The experts and Government functionaries would speak papers and
    suggest the ways of promotion of forest in the Barani area. The senior vice
    president of Pakistan Muslim Lt. General (R) Abdul Majeed Malik who was also
    chairman of Majeed Malik Foundation would preside the seminar, while federal
    minister of environment Major (R) Tahir Iqbal would be the chief guest.

    CHAKWAL December 4: Choa Saiden Shah police after taking bribe, termed a
    simple domestic quarrel into act of terrorism. Shabnam Bibi wife of Nasir
    Mehmood Badshah resident of village Dalwal appealed to IG Punjab, DIG
    Rawalpindi and Chief Minister to hold and open inquiry of high handedness of
    Choa Saiden Shah police. Shabnam Bibi told that a simple application of a
    close relative of her husband was of a miner dispute, lodged in the police
    station, police raided with Elite Force on their house and started firing on
    us. My husband disappeared from scene for saving his life but the Choa
    Saiden Shah police registered a case of terrorism against him. Shabnam Bibi
    alleged that she was detained at Choa Saiden Shah police station for illegal
    confinement with out the presence of lady police. Shabnam Bibi further
    contended that she was threatened of dire consequences by the opposite
    party. Therefore, she must be provided safety and security.

    CHAKWAL December 6: District Nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas told on
    Tuesday that rupees 25 thousands monthly salary would be provided to new
    medical officer doctor from District Government Chakwal, while instruments
    would be provided to all District, Tehsil Headquarters and basic health
    units Chakwal through establishing citizen community board. He was
    addressing a community seminar at village Munday some 25 kilometer from
    here. He directed that the doctors and other staff of the hospitals should
    remain punctual on their duties and those found guilty would not be spared.
    EDO Health Dr. Iqbal Kahoot speaking on this occasion told that all the
    ambulances of health department in District Chakwal would be provided
    wireless system and mobile set would be provided to all the one thousand
    lady health worker performing their duties through out the district and
    UNFPA have provided assistance to health department district Chakwal. He
    further told that 24 hour delivery service in all the basic health units of
    District Chakwal have been provided, so that life of mother and child should
    be in safe hands. EDO further told that a Gynecologist and 7 lady doctors

    Buchal Kalan, Taman and Munday where 24 hours facilities was available for
    women and he was confident that no mother and child would be died due to
    lack of medical facilities during the delivery in district Chakwal in near

    CHAKWAL December 6: Choa Saiden Shah and Kallar Kahar police arrested
    two accused and recovered illicit arms from them. Kallar Kahar police
    recovered 30 bore pistol from Habib Ullah resident of village Bhoun, while
    Choa Saiden Shah police arrested Muhammad Nawaz S/o. Feroze Khan resident of
    Chakwal and 30 bore pistol was recovered from him. Separate cases were
    registered against them and they were sent into judicial lockup.

    CHAKWAL December 6: Chief Minister Punjab Ch. Pervaiz Ellahi approved to
    establish Kallar Kahar as a second best Hill Station of Punjab after Muree
    and some more development projects were sanctioned for the up gradation of
    Kallar Kahar Lake. This was stated by Tehsil Nazim Kallar Kahar Pir Sajid
    Hussain Shah on Tuesday while taking to the newsman at his TMA office Kallar
    Kahar. Tehsil Nazim further told that the present development project on
    Kallar Kahar Lake would be completed by 30th June while in the next face
    huts, a revolving restaurant, Tennis courts and Golf Course was also in the
    pipe line in the next phase. He further told that 115 Kanals land for the
    construction of Tehsil Complex Kallar Kahar is to be required and this land
    would be acquired near the historic Kallar Kahar Lake and all Government
    offices would be established in this complex. Tehsil Nazim was confident
    that brisk development activities would be started after the election of
    Tehsil Naib Nazim Kallar Kahar as TMA Kallar Kahar was newly born
    institution and would take some time to come up to fulfill the expectation
    of the people.

    CHAKWAL December 7: A brother of Deputy Commissioner Income Tax Jhelum
    was shot dead near village Jhetal by two armed person riding on motorcycle
    early morning on Wednesday in the area of Dhudial police station. The
    deceased Kamran Hashmi S/o. Maqbool Hussain resident of village Khanwal
    along with ASI Ghulam Abbas and his friend Muhamad Pervaiz was on his way to
    Chakwal to attend a case at District Courts Chakwal and when they reached
    near Government High School Jhetal, Sajjad Hussain S/o. Ghulam Haider and
    Amjad Hussain S/o. Ajaib Hussain were waiting for them. They stopped the car
    and they took out Kamran Hashmi from the car and opened firing on him with
    Kalashnikov, resulting his instant death on the spot. The accused were
    managed to make good their escape from the scene while the dead body was
    shifted to District Headquarter Hospital Chakwal for autopsy. The killer
    were the close relatives of the deceased as there was a dispute of property
    between them at village Khanwal and criminal cases of both parties were
    pending before the courts. Dhudial police registered the case and started
    searching the accused.

    CHAKWAL December 7: A passenger coach was looted at Chakwal, Khushab
    road in the area of Kallar Kahar police station in between Tuesday and
    Wednesday night and three armed Dacoits after looting the passengers fled
    away from the scene. The coaster driver Muhammad Toufeeq S/o. Abbas Ali
    lodged the report in the police station that he along with passengers was on
    his way to Lahore in coaster no. LXA-2681 and when coaster reached Ratta
    More near village Bhoun, three Dacoits who were sitting inside the coaster
    armed with pistols and daggers stood from their seats and ordered him to
    take the coaster along side toward a deserted road. The accused on pistol
    point snatched cash amount, gold ornaments, mobile phones and other
    valueable articles from the passengers and after committing the crime they
    disappeared near by the Jungle. Kallar Kahar police registered the case and
    started investigation.

    recovered a carbeen from Zafar Jameel S/o. Muhammad Ramzan resident of
    village Bamla near village Khan Pur, while Sadar Police Chakwal arrested
    Azhar Mehmood S/o. Ghaiba Khan resident of village Mureed and 32 bore pistol
    was recovered from him. Sadar police Chakwal also nabbed Muhammad Ashraf
    S/o. Allah Dad and recovered 40 gram Charas from him. Sadar Police Chakwal
    in another operation recovered a bottle of licquor near village Tatral from
    accused Tanveer Abbas S/o. Muhammad Bashir resident of village Dhuraknha.
    Dhudial police also recovered 32 bore pistol from Sher Khan S/o. Allah Dad
    resident of village Sang Khurd. Police have registered separate cases
    against the accused and they were sent into judicial lockup.

    CHAKWAL December 11: 20 years old young girl feared to commit suicide at
    village Sohawa in the area of Dhuman police station on Sunday morning.
    Sidra Nazar was rushed to district headquarters hospital Chakwal but she
    died on her way. The father of deceased Nazar Hussain was a driver at Rizwan
    Textile Mills and he immediately reported the matter to Dhuman police
    station. Police sources told that Sidra had taken poisonous pills, however
    the cause of death would revealed after the autopsy, the family sources of
    Sidra told that her marriage is to be held after few days and she was to be
    married with her cousin. Independent sources told that Sidra was not happy
    with this marriage, therefore he had taken poisonous pills and committed
    suicide.

    CHAKWAL December 11: Two Naib Tehsildars were demoted to Girdawars as
    the allegations to transfer a Muslim property into some other names
    unlawfully. EDO Revenue District Chakwal after holding inquiry against Naib
    Tehsildar Tariq Mehmood and Manzoor Hussain, the enquiry officer after
    checking the record, confirmed that illegal practice was committed by the
    said two officers of Revenue Department District Chakwal, therefore EDOR
    demoted both the two Naib Tehsildars.

    and three mobile dispensaries would be established in District Chakwal as
    Punjab Government have allocated Rupees 73 million for live stock support

    at union council level during this 3 years program. District Officer Live
    Stock Dr. Ghulam Hussain told that 128 persons would be recruited to
    implement this three year support program.

    six accused and recovered narcotics and illicit arms from them. Sadar police
    Chakwal arrested Ghulam Jaffar resident of village Dhudial and 45 gram
    Charas was recovered from him, while 30 gram heroin was also recovered from
    Ikhtair Hussain resident of village Syed. Kallar Kahar police arrested
    Muhammad Zubair resident of Sarkalan and 30 bore pistol was recovered from
    him, while Dhudial police arrested Muhammad Abbas resident of Farid Kasar
    and 30 bore pistol was recovered from him. City police Chakwal nabbed

    CHAKWAL December 12: A vehicle was snatched at gun point near Darbar
    Ghamgool Sharif of District Kohat. The driver Muhammad Habib S/o. Malik
    Naseer resident of Saigol Abad along with his wife was on his way to shrine
    of Ghamgool Sharif in car No. IDA-4142. During midnight unknown persons
    appeared on the scene and they snatched the car and tied both husband and
    wife with ropes and threw them in deserted place.

    CHAKWAL December 12: The Bailiff of Additional District and Session
    Judge Chakwal Sohail Nasir with the help of Chakwal police confiscated all
    the material from the office a local weekly newspaper and handed over to the
    degree holder. The local news paper had published scandalous news item
    against lady health worker Kousar Parveen D/o. Muhammad Iqbal resident of
    village Noor Pur and she had field a defamation suit under the new
    defamation law. The judge decided the case after the trial and gave verdict
    in favour of Kausar Parveen and Judge fined rupees 2 lac and imprisonment of
    three month. The chief editor was failed to pay the fine amount despite
    various orders issued by the court. Therefore judge issued permanent warrant
    of arrest and ordered to attach all the property of the chief editor. The
    Bailiff Fazal Karim on Monday recovered all the materials, Computers,
    Furniture from the office of local weekly and handed over to Kauser Parveen.
    The Bailiff told that all the fined amount would be recovered after
    consecrating the other property in the name of the chief editor.

    CHAKWAL December 13: Two persons including a women were arrested by
    Sadar police Chakwal as they resisted to bury a dead body of a earth quick
    victim at village Mohra Kor Chasam on Tuesday and they filled the grave by
    clay when a dead body was brought for Nimaze Jinazah. According to details
    Adnan S/o. Muhammad Arshad was died at tent village as it was the first
    death of tent village Chakwal, therefore it was decided that deceased was to
    be buried at the grave yard of nearest village Mohra Kor Chasam. A grave was
    dug and when all is set for Nimaze Jinazah, Malkani Begum and Iltaf Hussain
    of the village strongly resisted and claimed that the said land of grave
    yard was disputed and cases was lying pending before the civil court,
    therefore the dead body should be buried to some other place and in the
    meantime they filled the grave with clay. The dead body was removed and it
    was later on buried at Pir Sahabah grave yard Chakwal. The matter was
    reported to Sadar police Chakwal and police arrested Malkani Begum and Iltaf
    Hussain on the report of school teacher Muhammad Khan working presently at
    tent village. It is learnt that the school teacher Muhammad Khan and accused
    Iltaf Hussain had a dispute of land between them and there were only four
    graves of the near relatives of Muhammad Khan at the sight, while the
    village grave yard was away from this land. The school teacher Muhammad Khan
    intentionally proposed the disputed site for grave of the earth quick victim
    to create mess and gain his personal ends.

    CHAKWAL December 13: Punjab Government has approved the establishment of
    Dar-ul-Aman in District Chakwal rupees 2.53 million have been provided to
    the community development department Chakwal and Punjab Government directed
    that it must be completed by 31st December 2005. There would be a capacity
    of 20 poor and needy women in the Dar-ul-Aman, free food, legal assistance
    and medical aid and even recreational activities would be provided. EDO
    community development Chakwal Pervaiz Kahoot told on Tuesday that 11 people
    would be employed for this project.

    CHAKWAL December 14: Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Sher
    Afghan has said that Ex. Prime Minister Be-Nazeer Bhutto had approved Kala
    Bagh Dam project while changing its name as Indus Dam in 1996 when she was
    prime minister at that time but same year her Government was dismissed
    therefore this project was shelved. He was talking to the delegation of
    Chakwal Press Club and Wednesday, his press secretary Mr. Tanveer Malik was
    also present on this occasion. The minister was of the view that the stance
    of Pakistan Peoples Party was different in Punjab province, it had different
    views in Sindh province, while it is also varied in NWFP and Blouchistan
    provinces. The Federal Minister further told that only few hand picked
    nationalists parties were apposing Kala Bagh Dam as confrontation with the
    federation was the basic manifesto of these nationalists parties. Federal
    Minister urged General Pervaiz Musharaf not only announce the Kala Bagh Dam
    but the construction on this project should be started forthwith and delay
    on Kala Bagh Dam would be against the interest of Pakistan as Kala Bagh Dam
    was eminent for the stability and solidarity of Pakistan. The minister was
    of the view that Kala Bagh Dam was a technical matter and it was not a
    political issue, therefore opposition should come forward and leave the
    politics of opposition for the sake of opposition. Dr. Sher Afghan was
    confident that the whole nation was with General Pervaiz Musharaf on Kala
    Bagh Dam as Sindh province would be the biggest beneficiary from this
    project. The minister further told that 8 Districts of NWFP have already
    announced their support for Kala Bagh Dam.

    CHAKWAL December 15: The expansion and carpeting of Tehsil Chowk
    Chakwal to Balkassar Interchange Road was approved and chief minister Punjab
    Ch. Pervaiz Ellahi have released the fund of rupees 25 million for this
    project and the work would start very soon and it would be completed with in
    18 months. This was stated by Tehsil Nazim Chakwal Sardar Aftab Akbar while
    taking to the newsman at his TMA office on Thursday. SDO Highway Chakwal
    Division Mr. Riaz Ahmed was also present on this occasion. Tehsil Nazim
    further told that to make Chakwal as a model city was his top priority and
    two more parks would be established in near future. He further told that
    encroachment drive would continue to make Chakwal city a clean and open
    city. Replying to another question Tehsil Nazim told that election of

    CHAKWAL December 15: 35 years old man opened pistol firing at his
    brother in law and inflicted him four bullet injuries at village Mureed in
    the area of Sadar police station on Thursday. The victim Fazal Taimour S/o.
    Fazal Dad was about to move his Tractor Trolley from his house, his brother
    in law Sajid Hussain S/o. Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal armed with pistol appeared on
    the scene and he opened fire on Fazal Taimour. The accused after firing fled
    away from the scene, while Fazal Taimour was shifted to District
    Headquarters hospital Chakwal in critical condition and later on he was
    transferred to Rawalpindi hospital and his condition was stated to be in
    danger. Police sources told that injured Fazal Taimour had divorced the
    sister of accused Sajid Hussain and Sajid Hussain had threatened Fazal
    Taimour that if he divorced his sister, he would be killed. Sadar police
    Chakwal registered a case of attempt of murder against the accused and
    started searching him.

    CHAKWAL December 15: A fake checque was dishonored and Kallar Kahar
    police registered a case against the accused. Qazi Amir Hussain resident of
    Ali Pur Kallar Kahar lodged a complaint in police station that Muhammad
    Aslam S/o. Ghulam Jilani has given him a checque of rupees 51 thousand that
    was owed by him. When the checque was presented in the bank it was rejected
    as there was no balance in his account. Kallar Kahar police registered a
    case and stared investigation. In the meantime SHO of Kallar Kahar police
    station arrested a judicial deserter Mujahid-ul-Hasan S/o. Abdul Aziz and
    sent him in judicial lockup. While in another operation Kallar Kahar police
    also recovered a 32 bore revolver from Asad Abbas resident of village
    Bharpur and a case of possessing illicit arms was registered against them.

    CHAKWAL December 17: A young man shot his father dead at village Munara
    in the area of Kallar Khar police station some 40 kilometer from here. The
    deceased Muhammad Amir Danga exchanged hot words with his young son Kamran
    Abbas which got him infuriated. The accused took out Kalashnikov and opened
    fire on his father, resulting three bullet injuries and his instant death on
    the spot. The accused Kamran Abbas was a maternal nephew of Nazim Union
    Council Kallar Khara Malik Muhammad Ashraf. Kallar Kahar police arrested the
    accused. The dead body was immediately shifted to District Headquarter
    Hospital Chakwal and after the autopsy, the murder case was registered
    against Kamran Abbas on the report of the accused mother. According to the
    FIR the mental condition of the accused was not up to the mark and that was
    imbalance while the character of the accused was not satisfactory and the
    deceased father used to advise him and some times father used harsh language
    against him. Police was investigating.

    CHAKWAL December 17: An Ex. Judge of Anti Terrorism Court opened fire
    on his close relative couple at village Khoday in the area of Sadar Police
    Station, however the old couple was luckily survived. Ch. Amir Hussain S/o.
    Muhammad Khan resident of village Khoday who was also the father of member
    district council Chakwal Mrs. Saba Aslam along with his wife Ghulam Fatima
    when reached village Khoday on his Double Cabin IDE-5294. The said Ex. Judge
    Javed Iqval Advocate S/o. Ch. Muhammad Iqbal Advocate appeared on the scene
    and he opened fire on them. The couple was rushed back to their house and
    was saved miraclly. The motive behind this firing was a dispute of a
    property between the parties as both accused and petitioner was close
    relative. Sadar Police Chakwal registered a case against the Ex. Judge and
    started searching him who fled away from the scene after the firing.

    Majlase Amal Moulana Shah Ahmed Noorani on Saturday at Chakwal Press Club in
    a condolence reference that was presided over by Senior Vice President JUP
    Punjab Sahabzada Nasir Jameel Hashmi, while secretary JUP Punjab Qari Zawar
    Bahadar was chief guest. Those who spoke on this occasion were
    Badar-ul-Islam Hashmi, Qazi Ghulam Abbas, Ikhlaq Ahmed, Qazi Zafar Iqbal,
    Abu Jafar Hashim, Shariq Mehmood, Khawaja Babar Saleem, Ch. Munir Ahmed,
    Moulana Mehmood-ul-Hasan Ghazanfar, Sahabzada Abdul Qadoos Naqshbandi, Pir
    Abdul Rahim Naqshbandi, Sahabzada Nasir Jameel Hashmi and Qari Zawar
    Bahadar. Sahabzada Pir Nasir Jameel Hasmi and Qari Zawar Bahadar were of the
    view that it was the effort of Moulana Shah Ahmed Noorani that the religious
    figures belonging to the different sects got them united at the plate form
    of Muthida Majlase Amal. They further told that there was a vacuum not only
    in a religious circles but also in the political arena after the death of
    Moulana Shah Ahmed Noorani and this gape would not be fulfilled over the
    coming years.

    Chakwal, Tehsil Naib Nazim Chakwal, Tehsil Naib Nazim Kallar Kahar and

    no other candidate have filed their nomination paper against these
    candidates on Monday. Those who were declared elected unopposed were Malik

    Nazim Chakwal, Syed Tasveer Hussain Shah Naib Nazim Kallar Kahar, Sadaqat

    opposition group which is headed by Senior Vice President Pakistan Muslim

    would construct latest hospital at Muzaffarabad for the earthquake victim,
    who had lost their body parts. In the recent earth quake and rupees 40
    million would be spent on this project and this hospital would be
    constructed under the banner of Haq Foundation and Ehtasam-ul-Haq himself
    donated rupees 2.5 million from his pocket. While similar amount was also

    be given by Azad Kashmir Government, while the funds would be raised through

    Group of Industries died and she was laid to rest at Gharbi Grave Yard
    Chakwal. She was the mother of Kh. Muhammad Javaid, Kh. Muhammad Jahangir,

    CHAKWAL December 28: Malik Aftab Ahmed of Pakistan Muslim League (N) won
    the election of Tehsil Naib Nazim Talagang by defeating Zaka Ullah the
    candidate of ruling Pakistan Muslim League and District Nazim Group. 33
    members of Tehsil Council Talagang voted through to show of hands. Malik
    Aftab Ahmed got the support of 18 members, while Zaka Ullah bagged 15 votes.
    The meeting of Tehsil Council Talagang was presided by Returning Officer /
    Additional District and Session Judge Talagang Mr. Jawad Baig. The two other
    candidates Malik Feroze Khan withdrew his candidature ship in favour of
    Malik Aftab Ahmed, while Malik Yar with drew himself in favour of Zaka
    Ullah. Earlier District Naib Nazim Chakwal and three Naib Nazmeen of
    Chakwal, Choa Saiden Shah and Kallar Kahar all belongs to ruling Pakistan
    Muslim League and District Nazim Group were declared elected unopposed as no
    other candidate had filed nomination papers against them.

    CHAKWAL December 28: The two checques of rupees 4.2 million were
    dishonoured by the bank, therefore a case was registered against a fraudster
    by City Police Chakwal. Muhammad Nawaz S/o. Mehboob Khan resident of
    Mohallah Gharbi Chakwal lodged a report that the accused Jahanzaib S/o.
    Muhammad Islam received an amount of rupees 4.2 million from him for the
    sale of a property but he did not give the property and gave back the two
    checques of said amount. The checques were presented before the bank which
    were dishonouered as there was no amount in the account. City police Chakwal
    registered a case and started investigation.

    CHAKWAL December 28: Two commemorate the annual Urs of founder of Urdu
    and Punjabi Ghazal Hazrat Shah Murad, an international seminar would be held
    on 8th January at Chakwal Press Club. It was decided in a meeting a Shah
    Murad Cultural Society and Chakwal Press Club which was presided over by
    patron in chief Raja Mujahid Afsar. A four member committee comprising
    Khawaja Babar Saleem, Abdul Rashid Mirza, Haji Muhammad Nawaz and Azhar Amir
    was constituted, which would make all the arrangements of the seminar.
    Renowned scholars, intellectuals and poets would participate in the seminar.

    CHAKWAL January 1: Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Pervaiz Ellahi has
    said that the success Pakistan Muslim League in the last phase of local
    bodies election of District and Tehsil Naib Nazmeen, confirmed that people
    of Pakistan and specially Punjab Province have reposed their confidence on
    the policies of General Perviaz Musharaf. He was talking to Ex. Advisor to
    Chief Minister Punjab Raja Munawar Ahmed and his Daughter MPA Maha Tareen
    Raja, who met CM at his secretariat. During the meeting of 45 minutes Raja
    Munawar Ahmed apprised Chief Minister Punjab about the various problems
    faced by the people of District Chakwal and also briefed about the latest
    political situation of District Chakwal in the background of recent local
    bodies election. Chief Minister was confident that Pakistan Muslim League
    would also emerge victorious in the forth coming 2007 general elections.
    Chief Minister Punjab was of the view that District Chakwal was lucky as
    rupees 35 billions investment was under going at the three cement plants at
    Kahoon Valley and in the coming two years an industrial revolution would
    bring prosperity and employment not only in this area but the economic
    condition of the country would also improved. Chief Minister was confident
    that after the completion of local bodies institution, the pace and progress
    of the developing project would geared up and power must be transferred at
    the gross roots level and the elected representative would be included in
    all the development schemes initiated in their area. Chief Minister also
    accepted the invitation of his visit to Tehsil Choa Saiden Shah.

    CHAKWAL January 1: Two minor children were died at tent village Chakwal
    due to Phenomena and they were laid to rest in the near by grave yard. The
    tents that were installed were failed to protect severe winter that was at
    his speak. There are more then 17 hundred earth quake victims were residing
    at tent village Chakwal and District Government Chakwal have made all the
    arrangement for the welfare of these people. The recent winter rain also
    added the problems of the affecties at Tent Village Chakwal as the surface
    was wet and more expected rain would add the problems of the people,
    therefore some special arrangement were required for this occasion.

    CHAKWAL January 1: Light rain was received in District Chakwal on Sunday
    that ended a long dry spell in the area, which caused various diseases in
    the area and the crops were at dying stage in the Barani area. According to
    the experts this rain has a very useful effect not only for the weather but
    also for the cultivated crops in the Barani area. More rain was expected in
    the next few days as the sky was over clouded.

    CHAKWAL January 2: Federal Government have provided rupees 20 million for
    the construction of Cadet College at Katas Choa Saiden Shah District Chakwal
    and District Government handed over 1220 Kanal land to education department.
    The Cadet College will be constructed with the cast of rupees 190 million
    and it would be completed in two years. Initially this Cadet College was
    announced by late president General Zia-ul-Haq but it was not completed
    after his death. Various other Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers
    repeatedly announced establishment of Cadet College Chakwal but it was never
    initiated. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Pervaiz Ellahi during his visit
    to Chakwal District two years ago announced the construction of Cadet
    College in a big public meeting. Central development works programme has
    also approved this project on the recommendation of Punjab Government. Pak
    PWD would complete this project, while Punjab Government appointed a special
    steering committee headed by provincial secretary Education to monitor the
    progress of the project. Three hundred students would be admitted in the
    college and classes would be from 8th Class to 12th Class. The ground
    breaking ceremony of this project would be held on February.

    CHAKWAL January 2: Chakwal police in seven different operations arrested
    seven accused and recovered illcit arms and narcotics from them. Choa Saiden
    Shah police arrested Rustam Khan resident of Choa Saiden Shah and 32 bore
    revolver was recovered from him, while Dhudial police also recovered 32 bore
    revolver from Muhammad Riaz resident of Mohallah Eid Gah Dhudial. Neela
    Police arrested Mazhar Hussain resident of village Parhall and 30 bore
    pistol was recovered from him. Sadar Police Chakwal recovered 40 gram Charas
    from Gulshan Ali resident of Dhab Khushal and 35 gram Charas from Ghulam
    Rabani resident of Mohallah Usman Abad Chakwal. While Sadar Police Chakwal
    also arrested Afsar Khan resident of Peshawar and 32 bore revolver was
    recovered from him. Police have registered separate cases against the
    accused and sent them into judicial lockup.

    CHAKWAL January 2: The missing of inquiry report of Cable Opertor Mirza
    Dilshad Khan murder case that was conducted by ASP Sadar Circle caused a
    great resentment among the general public, therefore District and Session
    Judge Chakwal should take serious notice of this unlawful act and those
    found guilty should be brought into the book. This was demanded by Tanzeem
    Tahafaz Haqooq Sherian Chakwal president Qazi Ghulam Abbas and secretary
    General Fahim Akhtar Butt on Monday in a press conference that was held at
    the office of the tanzeem. Shiekh Hasnain Abbasi, Shahid Abbasi, Ch. Ahmed
    Khan, Ch. Ali Muhammad, Malik Kifait Hussain and Raja Anwar-ul-Haq were also
    present on this occasion. They further demanded that the inquiry report of
    ASP should be made open, so that justice should be insured. They also shown
    great resentment as the wendors of the Chakwal City have entered into
    historic Chappar Bazar Chakwal, therefore people and specially women were
    facing hardship, while passing through the Bazar. They also feared that
    miscreants can take the advantage of this situation. They demanded that TMA
    should give some other place to the affectees of operation clean up in the
    city and these wendors should be removed from Chappar Bazar Chakwal.
