CHAKWAL November 10: District Nazim Chakwal on Thursday paid a surprised
visit of different Government offices at District Complex Chakwal and
checked the attendance of the employees. Those Government employees were
found absent, he directed DCO Chakwal to move against them in the light of
ordinance 2000. The offices of Naqool Branch, Mohafiz Khana, Enterprises
Office and Education Office were inspected. District Nazim directed that all
the Government officials should ensure there presence from 8 AM to 3 PM
and no negligence in the regard would be tolerated any more.

CHAKWAL November 10: All the six accused involved in the murder case of
cable operator Mirza Dilshad Ahmed were sent in to judicial lockup and they
were sent into District Jail Jhelum. City police Chakwal produced the
accused Mian Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Rafiq, Naveed Ahmed, Tahir Mehmood,
Arshad Nazir and Haji Zafar before the court and told that all the weapons
used in the murder case have been recovered by the police during physical
remand of accused and police needed no more of the accused for the
investigation. The judge ordered them to send them into the judicial lockup.
The interim bail before arrest of the seventh accused in the case Pir Abdul
Nadeem S/o. Muhammad Ismail would come up for the hearing on 12th November
at the court of Additional District and Session Judge Chakwal Mr. Sohail
Nasir. The acceptance or rejection of the bail would be decided after
examining the record of city police Chakwal. The eye witnesses and injured
persons confirmed that Pir Abdul Sattar Nadeem was present on the occasion
when the fire was opened, however Pir Abdul Sattar Nadeem denied his
presence on the spot. According to the prosecution the said seven accused
had killed Mirza Dilshad Ahmed when they opened indiscriminate firing at
Jhelum road Chakwal and inflicted multiple injuries to three other persons.

    CHAKWAL Nov 12: The senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League Lt.
    General (R) Abdul Majeed Malik said on Saturday that forward block in
    Pakistan Muslim League was eminent as he predicted in the presence of prime
    minister Shoukat Aziz in the meeting of central executive committee of
    Pakistan Muslim League that the nomination of District and Tehsil Nazmeen in
    the local bodies election would harm Pakistan Muslim League and Pakistan
    Muslim League would be weakened, therefore nomination should not be made in
    the interest of Pakistan Muslim League. He was talking to the newsman at the
    office of Majeed Malik Foundation and Mr. Umar Saleem was also present on
    this occasion. General Majeed Malik proposed that an open katchery with the
    members of forward block should be held at Muslim League Secretariat and
    grievances and demands of the rebels Muslim Leaguer should be heard and
    redressal would also be made. General Malik further told that during the
    recent visit of Chief Minister Punjab Ch. Pervaiz Ellahi at District
    Chakwal, the founder members and veteran Muslim Leaguers were totally
    ignored and it caused further panic in the rank of Pakistan Muslim League
    District Chakwal and the previous record was self explanatory as Chakwal
    district was strong fort of Pakistan Muslim League and Muslim League
    Candidates won six general elections from the last 20 years. General Majeed
    Malik further suggested that the affairs of Pakistan Muslim League and
    Government matter should be treated differently. General Malik further
    predicted that if the present mess in the rank of Pakistan Muslim League
    would not be settled amicably, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) would be in
    doldrums in the coming General Election of 2007. “The strong Pakistan Muslim
    League in the need of the hour for the strengthening of democracy as well as
    the solidarity of Pakistan”. The veteran politician concluded.

    CHAKWAL Nov 12: Additional District and Session Judge Chakwal Sohail Nasir
    extended the interim bail before arrest petition of an accused Pir Abdul
    Sattar Nadeem S/o. Muhammad Ismail involved in the murder case of cable
    operator Mirza Dilshad Ahmed. The investigation officer Sub Inspector
    Iftikhar Ahmed told the court on Saturday that the investigation of the case
    was not completed yet. The judge directed the I.O that investigation must be
    completed by 16th November and he should appear on the said date with all
    the relevant record and adjourned the case.

    CHAKWAL Nov 13: Federal Minister for environment Major (R) Tahir Iqbal
    said that 25 million dollars is required to improve and revive the
    environment in the earth quake hit areas and the paper work in this regard
    has been finalized and it would be presented before the International Donors
    Conference that is schedule to be held on 19th November. He was talking to
    the newsman on Sunday at his residence. The senior vice president of
    Pakistan Muslim League Lt. General Abdul Majeed Malik was also present on
    this occasion. The minister was confident that the estimated amount of 5
    billion dollar that is required for the rehabilitation of earth quake
    victims would be provided by the Donors Agencies as the international
    community was convinced that the recent earth quake in Pakistan was bigger
    disaster than Tsunami. Replying to a question regarding the formation of
    forward block in Pakistan Muslim League the federal minister was of the view
    that over family was in Pakistan Muslim League since 1962 and with the grace
    of God we are still in Pakistan Muslim League and we will fight over case
    with in the party and he rejected the offer for joining the forward block.
    Earlier a convention of union nazmeen and naib nazmeen and members of
    District and Tehsil council was held on Sunday and it was presided over by
    senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League Lt. General (R) Abdul Majeed
    Malik. While addressing the convention federal minister for environment has
    said that President General Pervaiz Musharaf clearly directed district and
    tehsil nazmeen that MNA’s and MPA’s should be included in the development
    programme of every district and the development schemes of legislators must
    be entertained. General (R) Abdul Majeed Malik speaking on this occasion
    vowed to play his due role in the local bodies politics of Chakwal and he
    announced that the election of District Naib Nazim and four Tehsil Naib
    Nazmeen would be contested and candidates would be announced with the
    consultation of his group. Pir Nisar Qasim, Malik Feroze Khan, Malik Nazeer
    Ahmed, Hameed Raza, Asma Zaheer also spoke on this occasion.

    CHAKWAL Nov 13: A sub inspector of Choa Saiden Shah Police station and a
    constable of elite force received bullet injuries at village Dalwal, when
    they raided a house to arrest an accused involved in the FIR. As soon as
    heavy contingent of police reached the house of accused Nasir Badshah for
    his arrest, he locked the door from inside and he went on the roof of the
    house and opened indiscriminate firing from automatic gun on the police
    party. Sub inspector Muhammad Sabar and constable Muhammad Manazar were
    seriously injured. The accused along with his wife Shamim Begum and another
    person fled away from the scene. The injured were rushed to district
    headquarter hospital Chakwal, while a case of attempt of murder and anti
    terrorist act was registered and police started searching them.

    CHAKWAL Nov 14: Chairman joint Chief of Staff committee General
    Ehsan-ul-Haq has said that there is a great competition in the whole world
    as for as latest education and technology is concerned and therefore we will
    have to make extra effort to come up and compete with the world and it is
    heartening that some educational institution were serving the country in its
    true spirit. He was addressing the student and teacher of cadet college
    Kallar Kahar on Tuesday after lying the foundation stone a new educational
    block in the college. The welcome address was presented by Chief executive
    Cadet College Kallar Kahar Lt. Gen (R) Nazar Hussain and told that Cadet
    College Kallar Kahar had established its identity in the major institution
    of the country and showing excellent results from the last few years.
    Chairman General Ehsan-ul-Haq further urged the students that they should
    work hard as they had to lead the country in near future. He also suggested
    to the teaching staff that they should groomed the students because the
    training and education that they would be give to them would be very handy
    and useful for the students. Earlier when chairman joint chief of staff
    committee General Eshan-ul-Haq reached Cadet College Kallar Kahar he was
    welcomed by District Nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas, while District
    Police Officer Chakwal Ch. Mushtaq Hussain Bargatt was also present on this
    occasion. The chairman also visited various department of the college, mess
    and had photographed with the excellent students of the college. General
    Ehsan-ul-Haq also announced a donation of rupees 1 million for the college.

    CHAKWAL Nov 14: 157 Hindu pilgrims reached Katas Raj District Chakwal and
    had their ritual rites at the holy temple inside the Shiv Mandar. The Hindus
    were welcomed by DCO Chakwal Dr. Muhammad Azam Saleem and gifts were also
    presented to them from the District Government. Speaking on this occasion
    the group leader of the pilgrims Mr. Bajaj has said that they had come here
    to bring a message of love, peace and brother hood from India and it is
    heartening that the relation between Pakistan and India were improving and
    he suggested that pilgrims from both sides should be exempted from visa
    system. He paid reached tribute to Pakistan Government for paying special
    attention to the holy place Katas Raja and Pakistan Government was spending
    healthy amount to protect and revive the complex of Katas Raj in its
    original shape. Later on the Hindus pilgrims bathed in the Pond of Amrat
    Kund as according to the Hindus myth this bath would shun the whole sins.

    CHAKWAL December 10: Three person including 18 years young man were
    killed in three different incidents in the area of Kallar Kahar police
    station, while 6 other were injured. According to details of the first
    incident Ghous Muhammad resident of village Makhial went out in the jungle
    for grazing his cattle’s and lunch was sent to him from his home and in the
    jungle this meal was taken by two other person Sardar Muhammad and Muhammad
    Ashraf. As soon as all the three took the meal they went senseless and they
    were immediately shifted to the hospital but Ghous Muhammad died on
    hospital, while two other were survived due to well timed come medical
    treatment. The meal was poisonous which was the cause of the incident. In
    the second incident a brother had killed his real brother near village
    Martan Kalan. Gul Muhammad went out in the jungle for cutting fire wood and
    his brother Muhammad Fiyaz armed with gun also reached there, both exchanged
    hot words with each other and Muhammad Fiyaz got infuriated and opened fire
    on his brother, resulting his death on the spot. In the third incident due
    to poisonous gas in the coal mine near village Neela Van, resulting killing
    of 18 year of old laborer, while 6 other laborers were also suffocated in
    the mine and after hectic efforts they were brought out from the coal mine
    but Muhammad Zaheer died on his way to hospital.

    CHAKWAL December 10: To eradicate the terrorism and other criminal
    activities from Chakwal city, a master plan was approved by District Police
    Officer Chakwal Ch. Mushtaq Hussain Barbatt and ASP Sadar Circle was given a
    special task to register to names of Afghanis settled in Chakwal city. ASP
    has a meeting with all the Nazmeen and Naib Nazmeen of five union councils
    of Chakwal city and it was decided that to complete the list of Afghanis SHO
    police station Neela would work at Union Council 1 with Nazim and Naib
    Nazim, SHO Kallar Kahar Police station for union council 2, SHO city Chakwal
    for union council 3, SHO Sadar police station chakwal for union council 4,
    SHO police station Dhudial for union council 5 and they would insure the
    completion of list of Afghanis and other foreigners settled in Chakwal city.
    ASP Sajid Kiyani was of the view that the elected representatives should
    have to co-operate with local police to maintain law and order and to curb
    the criminal activities in the city.

    CHAKWAL December 27: The senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League
    and Former Federal Minister Lt. Gen (R) Abdul Majeed Malik categorically
    denied any deal regarding the unopposed election of District and Tehsil Naib
    Nazmeen at Chakwal District and he admitted that we were not in position to
    muster the support of wining numbers of members, therefore we have decided
    to abstain from this election. He was talking to the newsman after attending
    the Rasm-e-Qul of mother of renowned industrialist Kh. Muhammad Javed on
    Tuesday. The president of Pakistan Muslim League District Chakwal Malik
    Muhammad Aslam Sethi was also present on this occasion. General Majeed Malik
    vowed to protect the members of his group and one way traffic of ruling
    group at the local level would not be allowed as we had the mandate of the
    people of District Chakwal to play our roll as a strong opposition. He was
    confident that the old Muslim Leaguers of District Chakwal would be provided
    a due respect. In the meantime Tehsil Nazim Chakwal Sardar Aftab Akbar in a
    statement on Tuesday termed the elections of District and Tehsil Naib
    Nazmeen as a strong confidence of the people on the policies of District
    Nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas. He denied any deal with General Majeed
    Malik and was of the view that people had rejected him in recent local
    bodies election in the first and the second phase and there was no option
    left for him, therefore he run away from the contest. Sardar Aftab Akbar
    further said that the service for the welfare of the people would continue
    in the coming four years.

    CHAKWAL December 27: Returning officers of District Council Chakwal and
    the three Tehsil councils notified the unopposed candidates and send it to
    the election commission of Pakistan, therefore the proposed meetings of
    District Council Chakwal, Tehsil Council Chakwal, Kallar Kahar and Choa
    Saiden were postponed that were schedule to be held on 28th December for the
    election of Naib Nazmeen. District Naib Nazim Chakwal Amjad Alyas, Tehsil
    Naib Nazim Chakwal Malik Muhammad Hayat, Tehsil Naib Nazim Kallar Kahar
    Tasveer Hussain Shah and Tehsil Naib Nazim Choa Saiden Shah Sadaqat Baig
    were notified and declared unopposed for these slots, however the election
    of Tehsil Naib Nazim Talagang would be held on Wednesday and Tehsil Council
    Talagang would elect the Tehsil Naib Nazim through show of hands. Returning
    Officer/Addition District and Session Judge Talagang Mr. Jawad Baig would
    preside over the meeting. It would be a keen contest between Zaka Ullah of
    District Nazim Group and Malik Feroze Khan of Malik Saleem Iqbal Group.
    Malik Saleem Iqbal Group at the moment enjoyed the majority support of 33
    members house.

    CHAKWAL December 31: Chairman Pakistan Steel Mills Lt. Gen. (R) Abdul Qayyum
    said on Saturday that privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills was on the card
    and the privatization process would start from 1st February 2006 and
    Government was confident that a handsome bid is expected from Pakistan Steel
    Mills. He was addressing a press briefing at Chakwal Grammar School and
    principal of the School Professor Hameed Ullaha Hashmi was also present on
    this occasion. General Qayyum told that the mill was on the verge of total
    financial collapse till 1999 when General Musharaf took over the control of
    Government. He disclosed that 25 thousand employees were getting salaries
    from the Mills against the requirement of only 12 thousand employees and the
    thousand of these so called employees were working at the offices of
    political parties and federal Government was providing billion of rupees
    annually from Government exchequer to his white elephant. He told that
    Pakistan Steel Mills earned a net profit of 10 billion rupees in the year of
    2004-05 and more over rupees 9 billion was also paid to the Government in
    the shape of excise and income tax. Later on while replying to the question
    of journalists, General Qayyum was of the view that after handing over
    Pakistan Steel Mills to the private sector, Government is considering to
    construct two more steel mills in public sector and he recommended that one
    should be establish at Kala Bagh where raw material is available in
    abundance. General Qayyum further told that all the coal used in Pakistan
    Steel Mills is to be imported from Australia and Canada and only 5 percent
    quality coal that was available from Blouchistan was also used.

    CHAKWAL December 31: The inquiry report of ASP Sadar Circle Chakwal Mr.
    Sajid Kiyani was omitted from the file of murder case of cable operator
    Mirza Dilshad Khan. This startling discovery was disclosed on Saturday, when
    Additional District and Session Judge Chakwal Mr. Sohail Nasir while hearing
    the bail petition of five accused Haji Zafar Iqbal, Mian Abdul Rasheed, Rana
    Naveed, Tahir Mehmood and Arshad Nazeer. The counsel of the deceased
    Chaudhary Zahoor Advocate filed a written application and contended that ASP
    Sadar Circle Chakwal conducted and inquiry on the order of DIG Rawalpindi
    range and the out come of inquiry report was not yet declared. The learned
    Judge immediately summoned ASP to appear before the court forth with. ASP
    Sajid Kiyani admitted before the court that he conducted the inquiry and he
    filed his finding on the file of the murder case which was now missing. The
    Judge ordered that the SHO of then city police station Chakwal Mirza Fazal
    Ahmed and ASP Sadar Circle along with the record should appear before the
    court on 5th January. In the mean time judge also the dismissed the bail
    petitions of five accused involved in this murder case. City police Chakwal
    had declared the seventh accused Pir Abdul Sattar Nadeem S/o. Muhammad
    Ismail as innocent, however it is learnt that ASP Sadar Circle confirmed in
    his finding that all the seven accused nominated in the FIR were involved in
    the murder of Mirza Dilshad Khan.
