Comunity demandsPANZ Gen-Sec Resignation

PANZ G.S Imtiaz khan has left pakistan the day PANZ started a fund raising compaign for the victims of earth quake disaster in Northern Pakstan. It was very easy to put his hands up for the nomination for PANZ general secartry designation but in reality do you think he is justifying his position? The whole community in New Zealand trying to collect dollar-dollar from door to door and from their contacts and here Mr. Imtiaz who has left for pakistan without informing his cabinet and without taking the other members of the comunity into consideration and left the nation behind.
Question No 1. DO WE REALLY NEED THAT PERSON IN PANZ? I have gone through his plans, what is he doing or planning to do in pakistan which is nothing but a SMOOTH TALK. His ideas and plan are illogical and unacceptable absolutely crap and doubtful.Whoever will support this idea of sending money to him has to be responsible in front of the community. Either that is Mr. Shahid Azad or ANYONE.
Question NO 2. WHY SHOULD THE COMMUNITY SUPPORT A PERSON WHO INTENTIONALLY LEFT THE COMMUNITY IN THIS VERY MOMENT OF NEED AND URGENCY? He never declared his plans or take permission from the public who spent their time collecting around $114000 in three weeks.
Question No 3. WHERE HIS CREDIBILITY STANDS? I had never against anything about him. But I have to put my voice in where we are looking at a person to manage this huge amount in pakistan, Who even doesnot have an abilty to manage his personal accounts. I noticed him on all community occaisions that unlike other community volunteers he has played a minimal role in any event. He is a hard rabit to chase. Never attends his mobile when we needed. Having a main PANZ office in Mount Roskill, He failed to perfomed his duties as a G.S of PANZ.
Community is giving him two options:
1. Public Apology. (Not to be a part of the fund raising compaign)
2. Resignation. (Easy way out)

Have your say?

JUSTIFY YOURSELF Mr Shahid azad

We are united with the Indian Community

The evil people who planned and carried out these indiscriminate acts of terror in New Delhi  are criminals. No religion can accept what they have done. Their actions are crime and terror, which all should condemn. They should be brought to justice and they should be punished without asking what is their race or religion.”

The Pakistani  community are extremely sad and pray for all those who have lost their lives or been injured in this terrible incident. We are united with the Indian Community and indeed the world in condemning the terrorists who committed this atrocity.”

US not to cut air support for quake affectees despite UN warning
(Updated at 2305 PST)
ISLAMABAD: US negating media reports that relief helicopters will soon stop flying if donations to the U.N. effort don't increase US embassy in Pakistan has clarified that the U.S. has no plans to diminish its support of its ally Pakistan in its hour of need and hopes the international community can step up with great increased commitments to support the relief efforts.

US embassy in Pakistan in a statement said, "We agree with the UN that the international community needs to greatly step up its level of support to Pakistan in order to provide humanitarian relief during what will be a protracted relief operation lasting months. We would urge all donors to do the same.

However, The U.S. has no plans to diminish its support of its ally Pakistan in its hour of need and hopes the international community can step up with great increased commitments to support the relief efforts."

Relief operations are continuing on an accelerated basis, with increasing quantities of relief supplies being airlifted on a daily basis, the statement said.

The day after the earthquake, four US-provided helicopters already in Pakistan mobilized to the affected areas. Two days after the earthquake, eight U.S. military helicopters arrived in Pakistan and begin immediately flying food, medicine, water and other relief supplies to the areas most severely damaged by the earthquake, the statement said.

In the three weeks since then, U.S. Helicopters have flown nearly 800 sorties to quake stricken areas, and have delivered more than 2.8 million pounds of relief supplies. Additionally, they have evacuated nearly 3,000 people injured by the earthquake, the statement said.

During this operation, we have increased and plan to further increase the number of U.S. Helicopters to respond to the requests and needs of the Pakistani Government and Military. Today, 21 U.S. military helicopters are involved in relief missions, flying dozens of sorties each day to relief centers and villages throughout the quake stricken area with more expected within coming days.

In addition, the US Government has contributed $3.5 million dollars to the UN-WFP airlift through UNHAS, the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service. Of $5 million the US has contributed to ICRC, up to $2 million is also being used to support airlift capacity in Pakistan, the statement said.

ADB delegation arrives next month
(Updated at 2300 PST)
ISLAMABAD: The delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) will visit Pakistan next month and take up the matter of delaying in implementation of its 24 funded projects,"sources said here on Sunday.

"The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed serious concern over delay in implementation of its funded projects, and demanded of the government an effective monitoring system for improvement in this area, sources added.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed serious concern over delay in implementation of its funded projects, and demanded of the government an effective monitoring system for improvement in this area. The delegation was due in Islamabad in the current month but delayed the visit due to the earthquake.

Sources said that ADB teams have been raising the issue at different levels and demanding that the pace of work at delayed projects should be expedited.

According to sources, around 24 ADB funded projects fall in the category of dissatisfactory implementation, and the bank wants improvement to ensure their timely implementation. They claim that in some cases delay is of even more than three years and even extension in deadline could not make the government move to the expectations of ADB.

They quote projects like the programme of judicial reforms and police reforms, revamping of water courses in Punjab, project initiated for promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), federally administered tribal area (Fata) uplift programme and various other uplift projects undertaken by the provinces to increase the income of women and low income group, in particular, the in rural area in support of their arguments.

Similarly, some of the ADB funded projects could not take off due to one reason or the other.

According to ADB delay in implementation of some of the key projects related to institutional reforms and welfare of the people is a serious concern to the bank and its team is coming to Pakistan to take up the matter with the authorities.

Sources said a two-member ADB review mission, which visited Islamabad early this month raised the issue with the advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Salman Shah and demanded that the government should take the matter seriously to avoid inordinate in implementation of its funded projects.

According to sources Salman assured the delegation that he would personally look into the matter and make it sure that ADB funded projects did not suffer for any reason. Dr Salman also assured the delegation to take up the matter with the provinces to push them to improve their implementation and monitoring system of the foreign funded projects.

Musharraf calls for demilitarization for settling vexed Kashmir issue
(Updated at 2145 PST)
DUBAI: Observing that the massive temblor that hit both sides of the LoC has offered an "opportunity" for moving forward on resolving the Kashmir issue, Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said he favoured the idea of demilitarisation for ultimately settling the vexed problem.

"I am for demilitarisation. If they agree to that, we will too. We are very flexible. We are absolutely open to moving forward to the ultimate solution. You can't clap with one hand; you can only clap with two," he told Arab News when asked did he think it was high time for people of both sides to do something for peace in the wake of the natural calamity.

"There must be political movement. There must be discussions between India and Pakistan, involving Kashmiris that will lead to results. I am for these results. This is an opportunity. You are very right that we are spending too much money on the military, he said.

When asked about charges in some sections of the Indian media that Pakistan haggled on the issue of opening the LoC, he said "It is unfortunate that anybody has said that Pakistan has haggled on the issue of opening of points on the LoC. Pakistan has been haggling on only one issue: Indian military personnel coming across the LoC. On no other issue has Pakistan haggled."

Asking Syria and Iran to adopt a reconciliatory approach rather than a confrontational one in dealing with the United States said, "Anything that serves to increase confrontation should be avoided. We must concentrate on things which assist reconciliation instead of things which lead to confrontation."

Asked what Pakistan's role would be if the US opened a new front against Syria and Iran, Musharraf said there were already too many fronts and they all needed to be closed.

Musharraf expressed his gratitude for the Kingdom's generous aid to the quake-affected people in Pakistan. "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and the royal family have shown great generosity and set an example for others to follow," Musharraf said. He also lauded the Saudi people for donating financial and material aid in support of the victims.

The president said it was unfortunate that in some quarters, especially in the Arab world, there was a misunderstanding about the recent contacts between Pakistan and Israel.

"Pakistan's stance concerning the Palestinian cause remains unchanged; there has been no change whatsoever," the president said.

Everyone present was given an opportunity to make their contributions in sayings for the decision and at the end of several dialogues PANZ President Mr. Naveed Hamid made an announcement that NZ$100,000 will be sent to Pakistan Presidents Earthquake Relief Fund. Our Community voice has finally been heard, I thank all the Pakistani Community members who participated in the electronic voting on SohniDharti and help the PANZ president in making right decision. I also appreciate SohniDharti MSN group and all the volunteers who helped day and night for this contribution in raising the relief fund. We are very small community of approx. 3000 Pakistani’s in number. Our target was around $50,000 but we are now sending NZ$100,000 double the amount that was expected. This shows our unity and support for our Govt. and the earthquake victims in our country. We will again unite once again at Eid Millan Party and raise more relief funds for the earthquake victims in the coming week. We will do our best like we always do. In shah Allah.

Maula Ali got some Shocking News… (PANZ BLAST – Treasury Haroon Resigns)

PANZ have now officially got New Zealand $ 110 000 which in the past they have never had in their Account. So now honesty of 5 Members of PANZ Panel is divided. Maula Ali has found this news by my very own special sources. The honest person Mr. Haroon - PANZ Treasury had officially resigned on 26 October. PANZ President Mr. Naveed Hamid did not mention this News to Pakistan Community members till date. PANZ MSN Group is useless in my point of view, WHY you may ask. First there was no article posted to announce this resignation of the PANZ treasury member till date. This means that PANZ does not want to put any of their internal news on their new official group. They call this group PANZ official group so they can control all the media. Where is PANZ honesty and where is the freedom of Media. These guys are Liars and Selfish. Mr. Haroon has resigned because he was in favor of sending the collected Earthquake relief money to Presidents relief fund Pakistan by official bank manner so there is no delay or fraud. President Naveed told Haroon that you keep your mouth shut. We will send $25 000 to Edi welfare foundation in Pakistan by hand of Mr. Maulvi Mallik Javid. He will bring us cash memo receipt of 125 000 New Zealand dollar. We wil then use this recipt for tax redemption and divide rest of the money in ourselves. Haroon said I am honest person and I will not become part of this so I am resigning now. He said I will not discuss anything with you people in this matter and stay on the side with my taxi. Maula Ali also has news that some members of the Pakistani community are planning to take this matter into court. This is because the receipt that they issue for the donation says this is for Pakistan Earthquake Relief Fund. It does not say Edi welfare foundation or any other welfare organization. If this money goes to Pakistan governments account they will only get the receipt for the amount that they have sent. If they send it to any other organization they can get more money written on the receipt that they issue for donation. PANZ leaders are now planning to keep this money for themselves and do fraud with it. If by Tuesday this money does not go to Presidents earthquake relief fund then President Naveed Hamid will be welcome by whole Pakistan community by Shoe garlands.

I also found out that someone using the MSN ID Arzoo on SohniDharti is a Thailaa son of Marrasian Singing Saiful Mallok.

I also found that when President of Pakistan was in New Zealand fro this visit the Presidents dinner organized by PANZ had cost charges of $60 per head. PANZ charged us community members $200 per head. So many business community members did not even pay $60 cost to Mr. Haroon. (PANZ Treasury). Mr. Haroon was very upset about this so he gave up from his PANZ position and has given up with PANZ.

Eid Millan

In conversation with Sohni Dharti, super active of Pak community Shahid Azad told Sohni Dharti that we are standing roughly on $110000 figure

In this brief meeting on Gundry taxi rank Javeed iqbal proposed that we can collect FITRANA and ZAKAT from every Eid Gaah, Mr. Iqubal said if we start organizing it now with systematic way like we did before all we have to do, coordinate with all Eid GAAH committees

Mr. Azad suggested that we should organize Eid Millan on Eid day with one dish party, where everyone bring a dish plus $20 donations for each person, in this function we can in invite Labour Party's officials. This way we may be able to collect a lot of donations

Team should be sent on their own expense

I have recieved about 150 messages so far in the favour of my plan, To send
own team on thgeir own expense as three are ready to join Genral secretary
Imtiaz Khan and join Panz camp in earth quake affected area.

As The president of Pakistan is very honest person but due to the size of
the disaster its impossible for the GOP to control it. And the local Nazims
are storing the relief goods while Edhi is taking too long and another
Organisation Pakistan Association has already got Camp on the aera we should
join it. And help it. 99 percent Pakistani here in Pakistan are requesting
for help to be distributed by our own hands not through any agencies.

The high officials of Pakistan and army is working honestly but the locals
are 200 percent corrupt and the relief is not reaching to those in real
need. 10000 children will die in the next 2 weeks so what are u waioting
for?
When I made my first visit and looked at the children i already spent more
than 5000 Nz doller But then i requested some wholseller for credit to
purchase some more helping goods atleat 10000 nz dollar to help them But
still can not be enough .... I wish I can do more and more... i could not
controled my self and started crying.
Thats what happinmg here.

Refer to photose of 1st Panz and kiwi relief camp in the earthquake relief
area by imtiaz Khan general Secretary Panz..

A Just a note for those who has concerns about my visit that I have came on
my own expense not on the Panz expense and I have opend the relief camp by
my own expense not on the funds money but to run this camp I need the help
of the people of New Zealand and PANZ friends.
I promise that every one will be satisfy and will be happy that their help
will reach to the affected area with in three days. As the affected aerea is
just 4 hours drive from here and we already got relief camp in the affected
area.

InshaAllah i will be online on radio Tarana from earthquake affected area
with latest updates on Sun 30th oct.

Referendum

Good to see overwhelming response from members of Sohni Dharti. Sohni Dharti thanks those who participated and casts theirs vote , It was first and biggest national level issue we discussed here, votes clear cut in favour of President funds, but bear in mind this referendum was to pave the way for crucial decision, final decision is in hands of our leaders, and leadership can go against the public decision, if still it hard to make any decision , don't forget opinion of executives

Results Of Referendum

President Relief funds 116

Edhi Trust 54

can you believe it?

He is behind the sceen managing all the forces and finances he is the most greedy lust prone person he is looting the community from last many many years but this time amount is big, big than his expectation, when he was in Pakistan used to put Eid-a-Miladunabi fund in his pocket but this is different story he can not take away thausands of dollars of the people in a easy way so he is puzzelled and fixed he has no sympthy with earthquak victoms or Edhi trust he is so selfish and mean that last year he fraudulently snatched away 500000 of his real sister he was ready to start a prostitute house to make money but he was a muslim so could not do this then he was thinking to change his religion but one of the Moulvi of Auckland stopped him to do this so this is a big opportunity for him but .................why President Musharaf opened a relief fund ? why bank don't issue a receipt of 70000 dollars by getting 40,000 dollars, he can not sleep all the night trying to find a way out in the mean time he has adopted the policy of procrastination and delying  by starting the discussion and engaging the people ..............may allah save us from such butchers and blood suckers

Pakistan association of New Zealand is engaged in number of ways to interact with Pak community and this message board is another step in the same direction. We have created an environment over the past few years where every one has an opportunity to speak as well as to listen.

An organization is mix of ideas that culminate into final shape by passing through discussion and debate. PANZ welcomes you all to this round-table atmosphere where we will talk-back while giving due respect to all who are involved in it. Come and Join---we are waiting for your views.

Support your Army and don't be a traitor

I am here in Pakistan right now and watching all the development regardign earthquake, reconstruction and rehablitation process ..........President of Pakistan has developed a huge funds more than 10 Arabs rupees he never spent a single pennie out of it, every day at TV and other media his representative is giving all the accounts and balance of funds ...............he appointed General Zubair chairman of reconstruction and rehablitation process who is a very honest man and gave the assurance to the people of Pakistan that their funds will be utilized in a transparant mannar and with the consultation of the locals of effected areas..................Musharaf himselfly gave the assurance that he will be respossible for every single rupee he never appointed a civil or political person just to avoid corruption,  while Edhi is bussy in marrying young girls I am here in Kashmir and I swear that 98 percent help is comming only from the Army, it is the army who is rescuing the people giving them food and medication and tranporting the allings to the hospitals. Majority of people is donating their money to the President funds to support their army...............I ask simple question if your army is fighting with a crisis in the country and other organizations are helping the army whom you should support as a ordinary citizen army or local one man welfare organizations............all the world is supporting your army admiring your army and you are supporting Edhi its very funny silly and selfish behaviour which has no justification except mal intentions

Urgent Request to SohniDharti Administrator about New ID's

I request to the sohnidharti administrator to impose ban for voting on referendum by the new Id’s that have been created. If this is not possible new ID’s should not be approved without full information and verification or be placed on hold/processing state until this referendum is completed. Just how I made my ID and notified the administrator. If confidentiality is a factor there could be a pact made between the administrator and the person getting his id verified. This must be done so 1 person does not make 10,s of id’s just to vote on this referendum. I have also been notified that some car company owners (businessmen) are forcing their workers to make these new ID’s and cast the vote in their favor. I don’t think it is appropriate that any political business cluster from our community should monopolize this situation. It is best that they keep their workers for their regular jobs such as cleaning and maintaining their yard vehicles.

Also I would like to say that average normal people of community who have donated with their hearts to the victims and collected aprox. $70,000 are not after the receipts issued and get tax reductions for these donations. Donating to these individual welfare organizations in Pakistan give opportunity for businessmen to get receipts issued to them with changed amount. And most of the Pakistanis know about this. We have to show some honesty to do betterment of our community and our homeland which is affected by natural disasters. This is a reminder sent to us by God, for us to help and support those who are affected, not go on with thoughts of our business benefits.

PANZ General secretary imtiaz Khan from earthquake Affected areas

Dear Billa g and all brothers and sisters.

That was a great effort to start the donation process which made us able to
help our badly affcted brothers and sisters in this hard time. I my self
started this process by putting the first statement on sohni dharti just
after earthquke and given the account details of panz BEFORE DOING THIS I
DISCUSSED WITH President of PANZ and vice presidnet of PANZ. It was not
easy to start this process we have given our time, money and energy to it,
basicaly this job was done by 20 people not more than that. They were the
people who got constructive thinking and are very honest with their nation.

As General secretary of PANZ I am in contact with PANZ presedent and vice
president from PAkistan I arrived here from New Zealand on the 22nd of Oct.

The first city I visited was Karachi I found the life here is normal and
going ok, I also found there is a trust called Edhi Trust But when I gone
out and asked the common people the majority of the people are working in a
small groups collecting money or other goods and delivering it to affected
areas by theirself. I spend 3 days in Karachi and found that their are tents
available and ordered some.
Next was I landed on Peshawar International airport the firt news did upset
me when I heared that My cousin is missing in the earthquake he was in Army
so far he is considered dead, he was at the border, His whole Unit is
uncontactable even G.H.Q got no info about his whole Unit and they said
sorry we can not help and we got no contact so far.

From Peshawar air port I traveled to this side of Sindh River while the
other side is Huripore and Hazara. In this side of Tubela Dam i found all
house walls cracked, and the people very anxious and scared as at 10pm after
aftari I was sitting at Uncles home and another earthquake 5.4 on rector
scale and its happening every day or second day.

Today i am waiting for tents from Karachi and going to buy some Blankets,
Already booked a doctor and a nurse to take them with me to Earthquake
affected area.

The things I am personaly taking there are
New Blankets
New tents
Water
Medicines

Some first aid service and i am also taking some volunteers from here to
help me in this process In my first visit I will go to Aogi(Mansehra),
Batagram, and villages nearby, and depends on the situation there I will go
further to Muzaffar Abad and Balakot.

Though Pakistan Govt is doing their best but its out of their hands now.
Even United nations are loosing this battle.

My view so far from my personal experiance here is the faster you help the
most effective it will be the later you help will basicaly just formality.

To the New Zealand Pak community and Pakistan associtaion my request is

If you want to help the earth quake victoms from the bottem of your heartes
....
Please send atleast 2 trustees with the funds every thing is available in
Pakistan I am here to
co-ordinate with them.

I got accomodation for them
I can arrange transport to affected areas which is just 5 hours drive from
my residence here.
I can arrange labour workers from here.
I can arrange the required goods, medicines and some volunteers doctors.

President of Pakistan is honest man we all respect him and Edhi is also
wellknown in social works but If you want the satisfaction of the community
I will arrange a video of the PANZ relief operation the affected area and
send it to NZ.

If the funds goes to President fund the process take more than long to reach
affected areas or it may be used in construction later on as I found from my
experiance here.
If you send it to Edhi It will basicaly goes to his account and He can use
it when and whereever I trust him that will not use it fro personal purpose
but for huminity but The situation here is to act fast and do some practical
work.

My request to PANZ Prsident is Please send atleast 2 or three trustees here
asap and lets start the job.

We can make a PANZ village there for atleast 1000 people as our funds do
cover the tents, medicines, blankets and volunteers, foods etc.

And If you want a show than I have no problem to go and meet the Pak
President and give himn the cheque in front of hundred cameras. Or shake
hand with Edhi and come on the front page of newspaers here.

But know I am going to go there my self with my personal help for the
victoms If the association decided to look at reality and realy want to help
not show than lets start it. I alredy contacted three persons in the most
affected areas and they will be helpfull in co-ordination.

My direct line in pakistan 92-3005684178

KIA IS PARCHAM KAY HUM AYK HAIN?

Pakistan association of Wallington has sent its collection money to Edhi trust and Pakistan association of Christchurch has sent its money to red cross, said president of Pakistan association of NZ

pANZ is largest of all Pakistani communities in NZ , which is based in Auckland , this is the time we should forward our hand toward these other pak communities living in other city of NZ, we need a coordinated action, in matter like National disaster or other National issues, Now as reports suggest that as we are going to have embassy in NZ, it would be a good idea to make a federation of all Pakiwi associations in NZ, where we can have a collective approach to National level issues, because in govt papers we should be Pakistani of NZ, not Pakistanis of Christ church or Pakistanis of Wallington

something wrong with voting system

Hi,

been trying to vote for the donation funding but it wont let me recommend, anyone have any ideas on how to do this.

regards

new at this

votes blocked

Good Afternoon to the manager of this site,we trying to vote for Edhi Trust but for some reason our votes is not going through while we can see on the other trust sides is increasing, please we need to know what's happening because at this stage it's not fair at all.I've been informed by other voters as well that they have no chance at all getting through with their votes so at this point we need explanation for this problem. At this stage we all want the best as it's not for ourselves it is for the victims after all so we can only compete but keep in mind we are trying to put some minds to rest and ease their pains of those who have been involved in this disaster,so what ever is going on we want that to be fixed and keep the voting clean.

kind regards
Finau Ahosivi

"CLOSE BUT NO CIGARS".

We have worked for GOOD CAUSE, showed unity (so far) to collect donations for the victims and their families.
I have been talking to few people back home and getting emails and reports that there are chances of people left behind who are devasted for food clothes etc in government control welfare organizations. I have gathered info on that. Please email me at info@financezone.co.nz.
We wouldnt like Pak govt to take these needy people politically. Govt has weak and unreliable infrastracture in terms of direct aid to people in the nothern areas including Kashmir. We have other option for Edhi Welfare. Who is not only well know welfare organisation but I have seen and worked with them in troubled times in 1988 in Islamabad. I must say that this is an integrity matter for pak community around NZ. We as a community will not let anybody to jeopardize on the community integrity and value.
I urge the senior members of the community to take part into this issue and resolve that accordingly. It will be shame for you if we let these people fight over the donation like this. Whoever is doing this will have to confront the community one day or the other. If your aim is to make the GOP or high commission happy I guess you have minimised your responsibilty and after making all that effort you are "CLOSE BUT NO CIGARS".

Ultimatum!

Sohni Dharti appreciate its member who are talking part in this referendum

We are experiencing a lot of new ID s emerging just to swing the community opinion, from tomorrow morning all new ID s will not be able to cast their vote, we sorry to do it but this is necessary evil we have to impose on Sohni Dharti to make this referendum transparent

Today in favour of President ……83 vote

Today in favour of Edhi trust……29 vote

Informing President of Pakistan Concerning the Presidents earthquake relief Fund

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Javeed Iqbal from New Zealand. I was born in Lahore Pakistan. I am a member of Pakistan Community in New Zealand - Auckland. I am writing to inform the govt. of Pakistan about the decision made by our community leaders in New Zealand - Auckland. There is a big argument going on in the Pakistani Community here about which organization the relief fund raised for the quake victims should go to. Majority of Pakistani Community who have donated to this cause wish that this fund should go to President's Earthquake Relief Fund. The 2 conflicting organizations are Edhi Welfare Society and President's Earthquake Relief Fund. Pakistani community leaders and a few business men here have hijacked the Pakistani community and instead of helping the quake victims they are playing politics. These are the very same people who were around the President of Pakistan like his tail during his visit to New Zealand and were even willing to kiss his hands. I wish to inform that during the President Musharraf's visit to New Zealand the elected president of Pakistani community was Mr. Akram, soon after President Musharraf left New Zealand the elected president of Pakistani community was sacked and replaced by Naveed Hamid who is the current president of our community in New Zealand. He is the one responsible for this decision of sending collected funds to Edhi Trust. According to the Pakistani community's members view the current president is illegally in the position of president because during the community elections he had filled in forms for vice president not president. He had become president from vice president by support of few business men who have hijacked the Pakistani community here. The chief executives of Pakistani community had announced a new election long time back which are still not held and Mr. Naveed Hamid continues to stay as president of community and make his own decision from which his businessmen friends benefit. The Business community have only raised NZ$ 20,000 and normal Pakistanis living here have raised around NZ$ 70,000 by their hard work and door to door collections for the funds. When we collected the money we had done so by using the name of Pakistan Earthquake victims and that this collected fund will go to Govt. of Pakistan’s relief fund. Also most of the people that donated the money had donated for the President Earthquake Relief fund and not any individual organization in Pakistan. Now after the funds have been raised the president of community has betrayed the decision, we as community members will not tolerate that this raised money will go to an individual in Pakistan rather the Govt. of Pakistan which is responsible for all the operation to help the earthquake victims. If our community president sends all this raised funds to some other organization and not to Presidents Earthquake relief fund then this person does not trust Pakistani President or the Govt. of Pakistan and his thinking is that they are al corrupt and will keep this raised money for their own. This person has clearly forgotten that he has got a Pakistani passport on the basis of this very same Pakistani Govt. and authorization of the same Pakistani President himself who he calls corrupt. In our, The Pakistani community of New Zealand's view this person is unfaithful to the whole Pakistani community of New Zealand and the Govt. Of Pakistan. According to my information regarding this issue various of our community member are holding meetings that if the President of Pakistan Community finalized his decision to send this money to any other organization other then Presidents Earthquake Relief Fund then this issue will be taken to Auckland District Court (New Zealand) because this is public money. This will only delay the funds reaching to the earthquake victims but we feel that it should go to its rightful place. If he decides to send all this money straight to Presidents Earthquake Relief Fund perhaps he will get some respect for his presidency of community in next election opportunity.

Below I am attaching the copy of discussions and views held by our members on our local community website. The community website (SohniDharti – http://groups.msn.com/SohniDharti/) is also doing a electronic referendum and majority of the people want this collected fund to go to Presidents Earthquake Relief Fund.

Thanking You,
Yours Truly,

Javeed Iqbal

NOTE: I am not any politician and not interested in any of the receipts issued for donation. I am becoming part of this because this is an issue concerning our country leader and the victims of earthquake in our homeland.

Mr Javeed added we should be loyal to our President of Pakistan with whom order we get our Pakistani pass port . Mr javeed said if funds goes to other then President it would be crime not less then a betrayal with Pakistan

PANZ delima

The only advantage to pay money to Edhi trust is to get recept of more dollars by paying less so many local and corrupt self made or Mahala made relief funds raising groups are doing like this in Pakistan .............suppose you collected hundred dollars from the public, from Edhi trust you can get rceept of 100 dollars by paying 50 so you can easily put 50 dallors in your Pocket. If we don't have such intentions then the most secure and better place of depositing fund is President account,  Musharaf has gaven a good reconstruction plan and his team is working in good sprits so we should support  them with financial assistance I don't understand why PANZ is shaky and needs lobbying in this issue

Health Tips For Ramadaan

Health Tips For Ramadaan

This article provides useful tips on how to avoid some common problems encountered in Ramadan. If followed, it would enable one to fast comfortably and enjoy fully the spiritual benefits of Ramadan. During the holy month of Ramadan, our diet should not differ very much from our normal diet and should be as simple as possible. The diet should be such that we maintain our normal weight, neither losing nor gaining. However, if one is over-weight, Ramadan is an ideal time to normalise one's weight.

Consume Slow Digesting Foods

In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fibre containing-foods rather than fast-digesting foods. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours.

Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like barley, wheat, oats, millet, semolina, beans, lentils, wholemeal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates). Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates).

Fibre-containing foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables like green beans, peas, sem (papry), marrow, mealies, spinach, and other herbs like methie, the leaves of beetroot (iron-rich), fruit with skin, dried fruit especially dried apricots, figs and prunes, almonds, etc..

The foods eaten should be well balanced, containing foods from each food group, i.e. fruits, vegetables, meat/chicken/fish, bread/cereals and dairy products. Fried foods are unhealthy and should be limited. They cause indigestion, heartburn, and weight problems.

AVOID

*Fried and fatty foods.
*Foods containing too much sugar.
*Over-eating especially at sehri.
*Too much tea at sehri. Tea makes you pass more urine taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body would need during the day.
*Smoking cigarettes.  Smoking is unhealthy and one should stop completely.

EAT

Eat complex carbohydrates at sehri so that the food lasts longer making you less hungry. Haleem is an excellent source of protein and is a slow-burning food. Dates are excellent source of sugar, fibre, carbohydrates, potassium and magnesium. Almonds are rich in protein and fibre with less fat. Bananas are a good source of potassium, magnesium and carbohydrates.

DRINK

As much water or fruit juices as possible between iftar and bedtime so that your body may adjust fluid levels in time.

CONSTIPATION

Constipation can cause piles (haemorroids), fissures and indigestion with a bloated feeling.
Causes: Too much refined foods, too little water and not enough fibre in the diet.
Remedy: Avoid excessive refined foods, increase water intake, and use bran in baking, brown flour when making roti.

LETHARGY ('low blood pressure')

Excessive sweating, weakness, tiredness, lack of energy, dizziness, especially on getting up from sitting position, pale appearance and feeling faint are symptoms associated with "low blood pressure". This tends to occur towards the afternoon.

Causes: Too little fluid intake, decreased salt intake.
Remedy: Keep cool, increase fluid and salt intake.
Caution: Low blood pressure should be confirmed by taking a blood pressure reading when symptoms are present. Persons with high blood pressure may need their medication adjusted during Ramadan. They should consult their doctor.

HEADACHE

Causes: Caffeine and tobacco-withdrawal, doing too much in one day, lack of sleep, hunger usually occurs as the day goes by and worsens at the end of the day. When associated with "low blood pressure", the headache can be quite severe and can also cause nausea before Iftar.
Remedy: Cut down caffeine and tobacco slowly starting a week or two before Ramadan. Herbal and caffeine-free teas may be substituted. Reorganise your schedule during the Ramadan so as to have adequate sleep.

LOW BLOOD SUGAR

Weakness, dizziness, tiredness, poor concentration, perspiring easily, feeling shaky (tremor), unable to perform physical activities, headache, palpitations are symptoms of low blood sugar.

Causes in non-diabetics: Having too much sugar (i.e. refined carbohydrates especially at suhur (sehri)). The body produces too much insulin causing the blood glucose to drop.
Remedy: Eat something at sehri and limit sugar-containing foods and drinks.
Caution: Diabetics may need to adjust their medication in Ramadan, consult your doctor.

MUSCLE CRAMPS

Causes: Inadequate intake of calcium, magnesium and potassium foods.
Remedy: Eat foods rich in the above minerals (e.g. vegetables, fruit, dairy products, meat and dates).
Caution: Those on high blood pressure medication and with kidney stone problems should consult their doctor.

PEPTIC ULCERS, HEART BURN, GASTRITIS AND HIATUS HERNIA

Increased acid levels in the empty stomach in Ramadan aggravate the above conditions. It presents itself as a burning feeling in the stomach area under the ribs and can extend up to the throat. Spicy foods, coffee, and Cola drinks worsen these conditions.
Medications are available to control acid levels in the stomach. People with proven peptic ulcers and hiatus hernia should consult their doctor well before Ramadan.

KIDNEY STONES

Kidney stones may occur in people who have less liquid to drink. Therefore, it is essential to drink extra liquids so as to prevent stone formation.

JOINT PAINS

Causes: During Ramadan, when extra salah are performed the pressure on the knee joints increases. In the elderly and those with arthritis this may result in pain, stiffness, swelling and discomfort.

Remedy: Lose weight so that the knees do not have to carry any extra load. Exercise the lower limbs before Ramadan so that they can be prepared for the additional strain. Being physically fit allows greater fulfillment, thus enabling one to be able to perform salah with ease.
You should always consult with your own personal doctor or healthcare provider for appropriate advice concerning your specific health needs and care during Ramadan.
