Pakistan HEC to strengthen higher education links with kiwis

Pakistan HEC to strengthen higher education links with kiwis

Brian Sanders, Ambassador of New Zealand, called on Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister and incharge, Higher Education Commission (HEC), here on Thursday.
They exchanged views for continuing and expanding the HEC collaboration with the higher education sector of New Zealand as well as its industry.
Expressing satisfaction over the existing HEC scholarship programmes with New Zealand, Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali said the HEC wants to accelerate the pace and scope of this cooperation.
“We want to send more HEC scholars to New Zealand, especially in those fields where New Zealand has more expertise like dairy farming, livestock, agriculture, environmental science, social sciences and other such subjects,” she said.
It was agreed that the new approach would be “cluster technology-research development” tying up universities and industries from both the countries.
There will be a follow-up meeting in late September where in concrete proposals in line with the priority areas identified by HEC would be discussed. Mr. Moin M. Fudda, Honorary Consul General of New Zealand for Pakistan, Dr.
Sohail H. Naqvi, Executive Director, HEC and Dr. S. Mahmood Raza, Adviser (HRD) HEC also took part in the discussion.
Begum Shahnaz Wazir Ali emphasized that in addition to scholarships, other linkages should also be strengthened such as collaboration between the selected university departments of the two countries, apart from involving the industry from both countries, faculty exchange, joint research ventures and technology transfer.
“During the last few years, the HEC has concentrated on developing faculty base.
Now our focus is on academia linkages with industry, agriculture and other areas that are important for the socio-economic growth of the country.
We want to blend the university research with the market requirements, and for this purpose the young students and researchers are being encouraged to work on the areas of national and commercial importance,” she added. Brian Sanders, Ambassador of New Zealand, lauded the initiatives taken by the HEC for the development of higher education sector in Pakistan.
New Zealand has been sharing some of her experiences with the HEC and that they were interested to further enhance this collaboration, he said.
He gave a briefing about the higher education sector of New Zealand as well as the state of the industry, agriculture and other important areas, which might be of interest for future cooperation.

dissolving Nashemun

Respected members of the community

Assalam-o-Alykum

I’ m extremely shocked and hurt about the way Nashemun was shut down. When Nashemun was on its first step through its journey the women of the PAKNZ community were called to a meeting to ask them their views and opinion if we should carry on with making this organisation. Starting an organisation was the decision of more then 30 women, they were gathered two times in Mt Roskill Hall and once they have attended a work shop organised by the Auckland City Council. But it was concluded with only 7 women in a lounge of a house without any consultation of the community. The reason of closing down Nashemun has been given to the community is totally wrong and I condemned it. I was not aligned with their dissolving decision.

I have done all of my part serving the community with honesty and dignity, such as organizing the support of the Auckland City Council, arranging the halls and offices of Wesley Community centre and net working with many other government and non government Organisation. When Mrs Khan became CEO my all jobs were taken away from me by saying there is no need of your social work in this org . I was surprised social work is all about serving and helping the humanity and a human service organization does not require social work why?. What did they think was required then?. I happily followed the instructions and provided all of my contacts . Mrs Khan was chosen as the CEO of the group on the basis of seniority, long living experience in NZ society and also on the top of all she is the wife of a well respected community member and the founder of PANZ. I was the first who nominated her as a CEO and I still have no doubt that she is very capable and a talented lady and she has all the qualities to run the organisation with her some of very skillful companions. I respect all members from the bottom of my heart.

Why I resigned ? I won’t go in all details but the main issues are such as the organisation was not full filling the objectives. I never wanted for Nashamun to focus on the benefits of one group I wanted Nashamun to serve the whole community regardless of any discrimination. The other issue was related to the flag. Allhamdo Lillah I was not part of that disgrace. When that matter came in my knowledge by a few community members I took Immediate action and asked for a explanation from the CEO by sending me an email , which I never received. (Please see my attached copy of email, which I send to the group). It was never my intention to offend anyone,  if it was a mistake then please admit it and make sure to never repeat it again. In the last meeting my inquiring through email about the flag was found to be an unappropriate way of disscusing the matter by some members. And I was asked by the group members very harshly about my final decision if I’m in or out of the group. So I withdrawn by saying I will come time to time to attend the programmes but please no longer consider me as a member of the group.

I was very committed and devoted with my sincere ambitions to serve the community‘s women and children, but it was a very terrifying experience for me. At times i was even personally attacked by some other members. This was not completely the reason but the point I decided to fully resign.

My apologise if I hurt someone’s feelings

Note: I just want to make it clear that I do not know how the flag related issue came in to the knowledge of Sohni Dharti, but I think it is my responsibility to clear my position.

Regards

Atiya Syed

STEP DOWN AND DISSOLVE - An Evaluation - Your opinion please

This is not the way, the Chairperson, has done. She says, "other members of the group have decided to step down and dissolve the group effective from 14th July 2009.

I am unable to understand the thing like STEP DOWN AND DISSOLVE. Once you STEP DOWN then you lost the power to DISSOLVE. Total illogical and childish actions.

So the dissolving is not effective and totally illegal. Now its time that others come forward and take control of Nashemun, which was built with lots of efforts but few have tried to destroy that with their total emotional act to hide the truth behind.

I would request Atiya Syed to come forward and repair the damages done to Nashemun with the help of ladies who realise the importance of this organisation.

My apologies if I have hurt someone.

IFTAR PARTIES

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

It was this morning that a learned scholar told that currently millions of our brothers are in dire need of basic  help and just to do a little, why we do not collect the money, we want to spend on IFTAR PARTIES, for our those brothers. Our Masajids, Centers and Associatios can send those collected money for our needy brothers in different countries.

During Ramzan just go to Masjids and Centres in Maghrib with what you have got and share among yourselves and make Duaa.

Let us think and act upon  this. NO  more Iftar parties and instead pl donate money. We can discuss this idea with our brothers and also pass on this to others.

My resignation

Respected Community members

Assalam-O-Alykum

I want to confirm that I have sadly given up any association with the Nashemun group though creating Nashemun was my own sole idea. I resigned on the 29th-Apr-2009 but some respected friends insisted me to reconsider my decision, so with a lot of thought  while not taking part in any of the Nashemun activities I had come to a conclusion. Now on sunday the 12th-July-2009 I am formally confirming my decision to resign from Nashemun.

Hopefully in the future Nashemun will be a great organisation and that it will serve the community in the best way possible. My regards and best wishes are with Nashemun.

Blood Balti 2006

Blood Balti 2004

due to shifting from MSN we have lost few of our DATA, this is an effort to keep the record straight

A open Letter

Dear Billa G
It is an open letter to you . Just as a nudge for us who are living far away from our homeland. MashaAllah everyone here is contributing to the community according to his or her capacity. But one thing that is very important that we should not forget to keep our country s name and flag high. In 2007 when i was vice president i managed to grab a full size Pakistani flag from pakistan we displayed that on 23rd march 2007 ...it was the biggest flag we ever have in New Zealand. when i resigned i gifted that to Panz or in other words i left that with Panz . it was handed over to The next Panz regime by The then president Waqar bhai as per tradition and obligation. It was in the custody of Current panz President Hassan Bhai. some one borrowed that from him and the disaster is that it was used as carpet on the floor by those people ...Shammmmmmmmmmme for all of us ....I called president sahib he has nt recived that flag back yet ....i asked him to get that back and keep that in panz custody hope he wud proceed accordingly ...this message is just a request to all the people who are working in the name of beloved country that it is realy a disgrace to the our parcham ...plz do avoid these sort of happenings especially when we potray ourselves as muhib e watan

"MAIN HUSSAN DEE, KALASHANIKOV JINNAY MARZEE KAR LAY FAAYAR".

A Story of Punjabi Movie

FOR THE LAST TWO DECADES. THE FILM INDUSTRY HAS BEEN DOMINATED BY THE PUNJABI AND PUSHTO FILMS, SO I WOULD LIKE TO TELL YOU ABOUT THEM.

PUNJABI FILMS ARE A GREAT WORK OF ART. IN NEARLY ALL OF THEM, THE SAME STORY REPEATED. EACH FILM USUALLY STARTS WITH INCREADIBLE CAMERA WORK WHERE THE SUN IS SHOWN RISING FROM BEHIND A KALASHINKOV OR A COW, OR A TIGHTLY DRESSED "JATTEE" IS SHOWN RUNNING IN THE VILLAGE FIELDS CHASED BY A GROUP OF LANDLORDS. IN THE VERY NEXT SCENE, THE HERO’S MOTHER IS SHOWN CRYING FOR HELP. NOW THIS CALL REACHES SULTAN RAHI, THE HERO OF THE FILM, SITTING SOME HUNDRED MILES AWAY ROMANCING WITH ANJUMAN. THE MOTHER’S CALL WAKES UP THE "GAIRUT" AND HE THROWS AWAY ANJUMAN AND JUMPS UP ON A HORSE AND ARRIVES AT HIS MOTHER’S SIDE WITH THE SPEED OF LIGHT. HE STARTS FIGHTING WITH THE VILLAINS AND KILLS MORE THAN TWENTY PEOPLE IN JUST 10 SECONDS WITH HIS GOLD PLATED "GUNDASSA". NOW A BIT ABOUT HIS HORSE. THIS HORSE COVERS THE DISTANCE FROM LAHORE TO KARACHI IN ONLY 6.5 SECONDS, WHICH SHOWS IT IS EVEN FASTER THAN DR QADEER’S MISSLE.

NOW LETS GO BACK TO THE FILM. AFTER AN ENERGY SAPPING SCENE OF VIOLENCE, THE HERO IS ALL SET TO DO A SONG SEQUENCE WITH ANJUMAN IN THE RAIN (IN LAHORE AGAIN!). SULTAN RAHI IS WEARING A YELLOW "LACHA" WITH ALL SORTS OF FLOWERS PRINTED ON IT. THE HEROINE IS TRYING TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE HERO. THE WHOLE SCENE IS LIKE WATCHING A BABY ELEPHANT DANCING AND JUMPING IN THE FIELDS. SHE IS SINGING MELODIUS SONGS LIKE, "MAINOON NA WIKHA,MAYRA MOOD BANAY", AND ACTION PACKED SONGS LIKE, "MAIN HUSSAN DEE, KALASHANIKOV JINNAY MARZEE KAR LAY FAAYAR".

IN THE END, THERE IS A FINAL FIGHT BETWEEN THE HERO AND THE VILLAIN, WHICH STARTS WITH THUDEROUS THREATS AND ENDS IN A POOL OF BLOOD. IN ALMOST FOUR HUNDRED FILMS THE SAME SCENE IS USED FOR THE LAST FIGHT, WHERE SULTAN RAHI’S MOTHER IS KIDNAPPED AND SULTAN RAHI GOES TO MUSTAFA QURESHI ‘S HOUSE AND SAYS, " MAINOON MAYRI MAAN DA DUPATTA VAAPAS KAR DAY", WITH THE OBVIOUS REPLY, "BARRA BAYGHAIRUT HAI-DUPATTA MUNGDA HAI, MAAN NAHEE".

AFTER THIS THRILLING SCENE, THE VILLAIN DIES AND THE HERO, DESPITE RECEIVING MULTIPLE BULLT INJURIES, MANAGES TO SURVIVE AND IS UNITED WITH HISBELOVED HERIONE TO LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
