A Flash Back of Blood Balti

From: DocSent: 22/10/2002 1:45 PM
Dear Zubair Salim (Billa G)

I think you have quite a few committed blood donors have come forward.  We can go ahead and fix a date.

Personally I would love to donate, and I had been donating blood.  But since last year I am on medication and that's the reason I have not come forward.

However I can assure the readers, once again, that within FIFTEEN minutes of giving one pint of blood, our body is so systemised that it pumps the Compressed Red Blood Cells into the blood stream.  That's a "Defence Mechanism", Allah Subhana oo Taala has created in our body.  In fact it's to compensate the body, of blood, in case of an emergency, say one got an accident and have bled.  The bone marrow "Gooda" in "Nalli" is the store for these compressed cells and specially the one in our chest bone that's called "Sternum".  That's the reason, that our "Oldies" were so very fond of having Nahari and Payey.

As I have said before it is a complex physiological process,  however, in common terms, let's say that when you are relaxing after the donation, at the centre for 15 minutes, your body will recoup the same amount of blood that's given.

So, in short, once one goes off from Billa G's house and come back after donation, ready for Balti Goshat, their body would have the same amount of blood in their body.

Any more volunteers for "Balti Goshat".  Contact immediately.  Time is short.  I understand Labour Weekend is the target!!!!!!  There is a Sale at "Khan's Halal Meat" in Sandringham !!!! (Adrees should give me a commission for advertising)

"Zor Hai Balti Gosht Par"

Kindest regards

Doc

UAE strips 6 of citizenship over security concerns

By ADAM SCHRECK | AP

DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates said Thursday it is revoking the citizenship of six naturalized citizens because the government says they pose a threat to national security.

The unexpected order was issued by President Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan earlier this month, according to the announcement by state news agency WAM. The men were granted Emirati citizenship between 1976 and 1986.

The news agency quoted an unnamed source at the General Administration for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs who said the six had acted to threaten “the national security of the UAE through their connection with suspicious regional and international organizations and personalities.”

Some of the men were associated with groups that have been linked with terrorist financing, the state news agency quoted the official as saying.

It didn’t provide details or say where the men originally came from.

However, a person familiar with the case told The Associated Press that four of the men were of Iranian origin and two came from Yemen. He said the men’s Emirati citizenship status was revoked “once it became clear that the rules under which they were granted (citizenship) were being violated.”

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Officials at the naturalization and residency office couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

The seven-state UAE federation is a close ally of the United States.

Five political activists, including a prominent blogger and an economics professor, were convicted late last month on anti-state charges that included insulting the UAE’s top leadership, endangering national security and inciting people to protest. They were pardoned by the federation’s president a day after their sentences of two to three years in jail were handed down.

ID Reminder

Hi Billa G,

Thanks once again for being tremendous and organising your members to donate blood. I have attached a poster and a checklist for Sohni Dharti’s Blood Balti. Feel free to forward these onto everyone and/or print some off to display in your common areas. If you need anything changed on the poster then let me know.

As always it is very important that those interested in giving blood have had sufficient fluids and have had something to eat prior to donating, but since you are providing food that shouldn’t be a problem

you could remind them to bring their ID (driver’s licence, passport or their donor card), this is very important as ID is required every time someone donates and they will not be able to save lives by giving blood if they have no ID on them.

If you have any concerns or queries before the donation day then please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. I look forward to seeing the guys from Sohni Dharti on Tuesday 10th of January .  Thank you so much for your help – I couldn’t do it without you – makes me proud to know you

 Kind regards,

 Scott Sinclair

SOON WEST ALSO HAVE A BLASPHEMY LAWS

Australian sentenced to 500 lashes in Saudi Arabia

An Australian man has been sentenced to 500 lashes and a year in jail by a Saudi Arabian court after being found guilty of blasphemy, Canberra said on Wednesday.

Reports said Mansor Almaribe, 45, was detained in the city of Medina on November 14 while making the hajj pilgrimage and accused of insulting companions of the prophet Mohammed.

Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said he was sentenced on Tuesday and Canberra's ambassador in Saudi Arabia had been in touch with authorities to plead for leniency.

"The Australian ambassador has been in touch with Saudi authorities after a 45-year-old Australian man was sentenced by a court in Saudi Arabia to one year in jail and 500 lashes," a DFAT spokeswoman said.

A consular official attended the sentencing, where Almaribe was initially slapped with a two-year jail term which was subsequently reduced, the spokeswoman added.

The Melbourne Age has previously said the father-of-five, who could not afford a lawyer, suffers from diabetes and heart disease, with grave fears for his health.

His eldest son, Jamal, told the newspaper this week that his father had been reading and praying in a group when accosted by religious police and arrested.
