media release:

Dear Community members
Asalamoalikum

Pakistan Association of New Zealand has proudly been a part of New Zealand for the past 35 years. This wonderful milestone could not have been possible without the dedication, commitment and hard work of the individuals and volunteers that are an integral part of this organization.

My team and I recently got elected as the new Executive Committee of PANZ for a period of two years from  2012 to 2014.

As you are aware, the recent years in PANZ’s history were marked with some challenges and dispute. However, with the help of community leaders and a transparent election process, PANZ has successfully launched a new phase for itself.

Our new Executive Committee is a team of talented and successful individuals who are keen and enthusiastic about serving the community and bringing about a change. We want to take PANZ to the next level where it is not only recognised by the Pakistanis in New Zealand, but also by other local organisations and the New Zealand community at large.

I strongly feel that PANZ has tremendous potential to grow and become a household name in New Zealand. I envision an organisation that is the primary source of information, social activities, charitable giving and a platform for the community.

Over the coming months the priorities for myself and my team will be:

1. Membership Drive

2. Conducting elections of the three advisory members

3. Redrafting  the constitution of PANZ

4.  Website construction with a user friendly and modern interface that will help us in launching all our future projects.

In closing, I would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in us and we look forward to your continued support in the future.

We welcome your suggestions and comments, please feel free to contact anyone of us,we are here to serve you - our community.

Yours Sincerely,

Naveed Hameed and the Executive Team of PANZ

Blasphemy against Prophet, Saudi writer banned. SHOULD BE PUT TO DEATH

Saudi Arabia has ordered its newspapers to boycott a local writer after he was accused of blasphemy and abusing Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).

Information minister Abdul Aziz Khowja said he had ordered all newspapers not to carry any article by Hamza Kashgari for his persistent offences against Islam.

“I have instructed all newspapers and magazines in the Kingdom not to allow him to write any thing and we will take legal measures against him,” he said, quoted by Saudi newspapers on Tuesday.

“When I read his articles, I wept and got very angry to have someone in the country of the two holy shrines address our prophet (PBUH) in this offending way,” he added without giving further details.

Newspapers said Khowja’s move came after thousands of readers and schools sent letters to the local media and online demanding Kashgari’s prosecution.

On Tuesday, many Saudi newspapers carried a letter written by Kashgari on his Twitter page apologizing for any offence, which he said was inadvertent.

Go in a group as "Donar of Blood from Pakistan Community" and call media to
cover this event not to highlight the personalities but the good deed you

and published in ethnic newspaper and other local newspaper.

Very good suggestion , first we thought this should be the theme, but as we started ask around in our friends, few of Indians and Bangladeshis have registered their name as well and we think this would be unfair with them and more unfair with humanity , if we label it with Pakistan , Sohni Dharti, thanks Mr Bhatti who is providing a BBQ Marathon for donors, Thank you for putting it Ethnic paper, if any Desi Fella wants to join the Party please Contact Mr Bhatti on Phone 6202020 or BillaG 021 1655871, or 8181251

WORLD NEWS

Honor for Ahmed Deedat

Ahmed Deedat

JEDDAH: A Saudi-based global forum has decided to award renowned Islamic preacher late Ahmed Deedat (1918-2005), the “life time achievement award” this year, said Esam Mudeer in a press release.

Deedat is among the top-ranking “individuals who have excelled in the field of Islamic Dawah with their lifetime struggle and efforts,” according to the Forum for Social Studies, an Islamic organization established in 1986 with offices in UK, Canada and Saudi Arabia.

Celebrating its 25th year on Feb. 2, the forum's programs include publications, conferences, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, DVD and audio production etc.

The forum is also giving “award of excellence” to organizations and individuals who have excelled in various fields of Islam. The name of a Saudi student Deedat is on that list this year as well for initiating the distribution of 50,000 copies of one of Deedat's books given out free to all Dutch in the Netherlands, in response to local calls there to ban the Holy Qur'an under the slogan “BOOKS not BOMBS.”

South African born Yousuf Deedat, son of the renowned scholar, has been invited by the forum to attend its event and receive the award on behalf of his late father.

Back in 1986, Ahmed Deedat received King Faisal Award for service to Islam from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, who was the crown prince then.

“This comes at times when more and more Muslims in general, besides more Arab brothers and sisters in particular, all becoming very aware of the evangelical challenges and Western media crusades that face them and their youth in their own homelands, especially after 9/11,” Yousuf acknowledges.

He sees Arab youngsters posting and sharing more of his father's recorded debates in social media circles daily in YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, generating thousands of high and wide viewership in few hours.

“The fall of Mubarak of Egypt in Feb. 11th of 2011, thanks to the peaceful revolution the youth started there, laid to rest the dark legacy of 9/11,” claims Yousuf Deedat.

“It's our 2/11 against their 9/11. And by 'their' I mean American and Western hardliners; Evangelicals, Zionists or ignorant people about Islam who fell victims to their lies. It's about time we educate them better, just as much the Arab Spring is inspiring them and the rest of the world today to break free from Capitalism. Welcome to Islam!”
