PAKISTAN WELCOMES POSITIVE ELEMENTS IN PRIME MINISTER VAJPAYEE’S SPEECH IN SRINAGAR

 

Pakistan welcomes the positive elements contained in Prime Minister Vajpayee’s speech in Srinagar and his offer of dialogue to Pakistan to resolve all outstanding disputes, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan believes that given goodwill and honest intentions all issues can be resolved peacefully through a dialogue between India and Pakistan.

It is regrettable that in subsequent statements Indian Prime Minister has undermined his own offer of friendship by repeating the hackneyed allegations against Pakistan and by placing preconditions for talks. Pakistan reiterates its proposal of stationing neutral observers to monitor alleged cross-LoC activities. This would be in the interest of objectivity, fairness and in accordance with international norms. Pakistan has taken a number of steps to ensure that its territory is not used for any prejudicial activities against other countries. Pakistan remains fully committed and determined to fight terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The Government of Pakistan places a high priority on reducing tension and normalizing relations with India. We believe that the only way forward in the interest of over a billion people is through sincere, unconditional, meaningful and sustained dialogue addressing the key issues bedeviling relations between the two countries and poisoning the atmosphere for peace and security in the region. Pakistan's offer for talks at any level, any time and any place remains valid and India should seize the moment for durable peace, stability and economic development in South Asia. If India is indeed serious, Government of Pakistan would be ready to nominate a senior official to discuss the agenda for the talks.

Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali spoke to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of India on telephone today. The call took place at the initiative of Prime Minister Jamali.

The Prime Minister welcomed Prime Minister Vajpayee's offer of talks with Pakistan and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness for a dialogue with India at any level. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that such a dialogue will address all outstanding issues between the two countries, including Kashmir.

The two Prime Ministers also exchanged views on exploring ways and means to initiate relations in economic, cultural and sports fields, which will be the mutual benefit of the two peoples.

The Prime Minister Jamali extended an invitation to Mr. Vajpayee to visit Pakistan at his convenience. Mr. Jamali offered to visit India in the interest of peace and stability in South Asia.

The telephone call breaks the 18 months old impasse between the two countries. Prime Minister Vajpayee appreciated the first contact between the two Prime Ministers. The two agreed to keep in touch.

The conversation was most cordial and useful.

CHAKWAL MAY 30:The role of opposition political
parties in very negative and the way opposition
legislatures are behaving in the Punjab Assembly. It
is deplorable and against the norms and traditions of
democracy, therefore the political parties should mend
their ways and had a dialogue with the treasury
benches for the promotion of democracy in the country.
This was stated by District Nazim Chakwal Sardar
Ghulam Abbas on Wednesday while talking the newsmen
after attending the marriage reception of women member
District Council Shazia Iqbal Malik in a local Hotel.
Naib Nazim District Chakwal Malik Tariq Naeem and
various members including the female members attended
the reception. District Nazim criticised the behaviour
of opposition and justify the orders of speaker Punjab
Assembly as he is the custodian of the house and it is
his duty that he should ensure smooth functioning of
the proceeding of the assembly. District Nazim was of
the view that police intervene in to the matter when
the opposition members tried to disturb the law and
order situation. However District Nazim advised the
opposition political parties that they should adopt
the peaceful way of protest as it is their
constitutional right but the opposition member should
avoid using filthy language and derogatory remarks
against the treasury  benches. If the democracy and
Assemblies will be dissolved unfortunately, then the
whole responsibility will be on the shoulder of the
opposition political parties and hundred and forty
million people of Pakistan will reject them in the
election if is was held in future. District Nazim
concluded.
CHAKWAL MAY30:Additional District and Session Judge
Chakwal Hassan Mabroor Kiani awarded one and a half
year rigorous imprisonment to a drug pusher of Choa
Saiden Shah police Station. The accused Aniat Ullah
Rehman was booked by Choa Saiden Shah Police and
recovered 1177gm Chares from him. The accused was also
fined Rs. 10 thousand. In the other court of Irshad
supra additional Districta and Session Judge Chakwal
confirmed the bail before arrest of the accused
involved in a Hadood Ordinance case of Dhudial Police
Station.  The accused Farhat Jabbar and Imtiaz Hussain
sexually assaulted Farzana Bibi on 20th April.  The
accused through their counsel contended that a bogus
case was registered against them and they were not
involved in the case.  The court after hearing the
argument confirmed the bail of the accused.
CHAKWAL MAY 30.The meeting of District Council
Chakwal will be held on 2nd June.  The Naib Nazim
District Chakwal Malik Naeem Tariq issued the
invitation to all the members and asked them to submit
their budget proposal for the District Budget for the
year 2003-04.  The meeting will be held at 10:00 A.M
at District Council Hall.

KATHMANDU () - Nepal has celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of Everest by making Sir Edmund Hillary, the man who "knocked the bastard off", an honorary citizen.

Hillary, who reached the summit with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay at 11:30 on the morning of May 29, 1953, was spending Thursday in Nepal's low-lying capital Kathmandu, at the age of 83 no longer able to handle the lack of oxygen in the mountains.

When the pair returned to camp after scaling the peak, Hillary, a New Zealander, famously told the expedition leader "we knocked the bastard off".

His son Peter, who has also scaled Everest, celebrated in the mountains at the Tengboche Buddhist monastery, where teams are blessed en route to the 8,850 metre (29,035 feet) summit.

INSPECTION OF A FERTILIZER PLANT IN KARACHI IS A ROUTINE MATTER

Press Release, Islamabad 22 April, 2003

In response to a question about news reports concerning the inspection of a fertilizer plant in Karachi, the Spokesman stated that this was a routine matter. Over 150 countries in the world by virtue of their membership of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) had agreed to allow verification of their chemical industry.

Contrary to the impression conveyed by certain news stories, this was not a chemical weapon inspection as Pakistan was not a chemical weapon state. The visit to the fertilizer plant in Karachi will last only a day. These stories reflect a complete lack of understanding about the Convention.

The Chemical Weapons Convention contains a confidence building regime under which a defined category of industrial units in all Member States are visited by officials of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) based in The Hague. Nearly 1400 such inspections of industrial units had been carried out in various countries of the world. This was the first visit of its kind in Pakistan.

Pakistan fully subscribes to the objectives and purposes of the Chemical Weapons Convention. The Convention has enabled the international community to uncover India's clandestine chemical weapons programme which the OPCW has sealed and monitors its destruction. Pakistan applauds these major achievements of the CWC and will continue to work to strengthen it.

IRAQ SITUATION

Press Release, Islamabad 12 April, 2003

Pakistan is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation in Iraq. It is clear that the Government of President Saddam Hussein is no longer functioning. This has been confirmed by the Iraqi Permanent Representative in New York.

Pakistan's position on the current situation on Iraq is based on the following principles:

Government of Iraq is the right of the Iraqi people, and therefore it should be restored to them, as soon as possible;

Powers in effective control of Iraq are obligated under The Hague and Geneva Conventions to address the humanitarian and other basic needs of Iraqi people as well as to restore public order in Iraq;

The territorial and sovereignty of Iraq must be preserved, and also its rights over its natural resources, which has been reaffirmed in UN Security Council resolution 1472 (Oil for Food);

The Security Council must resume its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security in the context of Iraq;

The UN should have a central role in shaping the future of Iraq, as well as in addressing the humanitarian and long term reconstruction of Iraq. In this context, it is recalled that Resolution 1472, while outlining UN role in humanitarian assistance, expresses the readiness of the Security Council, as a second step, to authorized the UN Security Council to perform additional functions with the necessary coordination as soon as the situation permits as activities of the Oil-for-Food Programme in Iraq resume.

Since international law demands that parties in effective control are obligated to meet the humanitarian and basic needs of the Iraqi people, which is reiterated in resolution UNSC 1472, we would have to coordinate our actions in these areas with them.

ON PAKISTAN’S INITIATIVE, AN ARRIA FORMULA MEETING OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL WAS HELD ON HUMANITARIAN SITUATION IN IRAQ

On Pakistan's initiative, an Arria formula meeting of the Security Council was held yesterday, 9th April 2003 on the humanitarian situation in Iraq. Under the informal arrangement of the Arria formula, the Security Council invites experts to present their views on matters of concern to the Council.

The meeting was convened in order for the Security Council to have a fuller understanding and a better appreciation of the situation on the ground in general and to evaluate the damage and losses to the Iraqi people on account of the ongoing conflict with a view to finding credible solutions to address the situation. The representatives of a number of leading NGOs working in Iraq such as Medicins Sans Frontiers, Amnesty International, OXFAM, Save the Children and the Care International, shared their experience and insight into the humanitarian relief activities in Iraq with Security Council members. The NGOs asked the concerned parties to facilitate early and safe access of humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.

Members of the Security Council thanked Pakistan for this initiative and agreed to have further interaction with the concerned NGOs on the humanitarian situation in Iraq. It may be recalled that Pakistan, which has been deeply concerned about the effects of the sanctions on the Iraqi people, was the first country during the present crisis to call for early lifting of the sanctions by the Security Council on Iraq.

At the initial stage, we just got One hour. We are trying to get more time upto 2 to 3 hours and 2 to 3 days. This programme will include Paksitani music, community notices, Update news from Pakistan, local community news...and much much more....

Where ever on earth you go these days you will find communities of Pakistanis, Bangladeshi and Indians living side by side in perfect harmony and they are always pleased to see their people.

It is such a shame that our countries have not learnt to live in peace and harmony.

I remember few years ago I was on holidays in Hawaii, And late in the afternoon I was sitting on the Waikiki beach near the world famous Diamond head crater and thinking that its been three days and I have not had a single Roti and Pizzas and Burgers were beginning to taste funny.

And I saw a young Sardar Ji walking on the beach with his young wife I could not wait any longer and shouted to Sardar ji "Janab koi Pakistani/Indian restaurant ka pata chal sakta hai"

The young Sardar Ji couple walked up to us and sat down on the beach and told us that they have been living in Honolulu for the last five years and they happen to run the only Indian restaurant in Hawaii (I was so pleased to hear that I could only see an ocean of ROTIES instead of deep blue water).

Needless to say that Sardar Ji Drove us to his restaurant where we ate everything we could think of which reminded us of LAHORE (LAKSHAMI CHOWK). The amazing part was that Sardar Ji refused to accept any money he said Yaar apnay hum watna ko loon tay paisay ase nahi landay. That much emotion and love for our people.

 I have never forgotten that but here in the west we come across these examples everyday Indians and Pakistanis have a great deal of love for each other. But the time will come when India and Pakistan will be friends again so it is the desire of all Asians living in the west and I am sure that people of Indian and Pakistan do want to live in peace and friendship.

I have extensive opportunities to meet Asians living in the west and I would like you to share what they say about India and Pakistan and about each other. Asian living in the west their feelings are more or less the same whether they are living in UK, or CANADA, USA, EUROPE, NEW ZEALAND or any other country for that matter.

FREE LEARNER'S LICENCE AT  MIGRANT EDUCATION

A Seminar was conducted  by the Migrant Education, Training and
Employment Centre at 5A Jordan Avenue, Onehunga. It was primarily
conducted to cater to the needs of Migrants particularly the
refugees from Afganishtan,Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Iraq,
Pakistan and Sri Lanka.It was organised and coordinated by Anita.
The organisers invited the Licensing Authority e.g. A.A. and
L.T.S.A, Bill Steedmann  and Alf Blewden, the Testing Officers of
the Drivers' Testing New Zealand.
More than 40 people from different walks of life participated in
the Seminar who were in turn provided the free Learner's Licence
in order to make them aware of Safety rules. It emphasised the
importance of road safetyy and highlighted the hazards, fines, and
casualities as a result of accidents.
The mission of the Seminar was to provide quality education, 
training and employment services to maximise social, economic, and 
cultural growth of the migrants.
The vision being to be the best service providers for all the
migrants in education and training sectors and also to provide
culturally  appropriate environmentt for all migrants. To work as 
a Team for social change and to finally promote cross-cultural
understanding between migrants and the host community.
The next seminar is likely to be conducted on  the 30th May at 10
AM  to 12 Noon by Rohan Jaduramm Vamadevan at Migrant Education
Centre,  5A, Jordan Aveenue, Onehunga..

In a BBQ party Majid Kashi , told Sohni Dharti, that he appreciate PANZ which has helped him in time of deep, deep trouble, Mr Kashi told Sohni Dharti his wife died last week and he was finically so down that he could not arrange funeral service money, he gave all he has and promised to funeral director, that he will pay the rest with in one week, Mr Kashi said, He thought he will arrange this money in one week , but he could not, at last resort he nocked at PANZ office, where PANZ arranged $1500 loan , which he would be paying back with in 6 month, Mr Kashi says that he has no word to say thanks to PANZ

It is not good if Pakistan association is not helping this person. According to me it is the first person who could not get help from pakistan association, may be due to some bad reasons. Some body told me that the above said person applied for refugee case and he showed himself as an anti Pakistani. If it is so, no one should help him. If it is true it is a matter of shame for those people who are helping an anti pakistan person. if it is not true then pakistani people must help him. I am not sure for this case. If some body knows the actual reason, can you explain it please.

I dont know who you are because I never read any type of introduction from
your side except a dummy name City Scan..... and I was busy in organising a
programme so I could not answer you earlier.

Let me introduce you to me first. I am Mirza Nadeem, General Secartary of
"Pakistan Welfare and Cultural Society". I read your message inwhich you
call us "music group" as above.

First thing is that our Scoiety name is Pakistan Welfare and Cultural
Society, It is a volunteer organisation. before that old PANZ was doing just
one function in one year like 14th August only....so some volunteers come
together and organise this society, so we can perform different gethering,
and do some thing for the betterment of community.

Our first programme was ""Mehfil-e-Mushaira"". which was very successful and
made us rich in Urdu poetry. After that we organise a very very big
gethering on Eid Ul Fittar...with a name of Eid Millan Party....which was a
family musical night. Now people are waiting for the second programme like
that.

After that recently we celebrate Eid Millad Un Nabbi....As Mehfil-e-Naat
last sunday....I dont know you attend these programmes or not ....if not, it
mean you are not a part of our community and if you are not a part of our
community, you dont have right to criticise our community in any matter...

This was one part of our Society and second part is ""Welfare"". Couple of
months ago one Pakistani Mnasoor Bhai had died. That time we were on very
early stage, even then we collect 1000 Dollors and gave to victom's wife.
Now, two Pakistani had died in accident.. we start our compaign we paid the
funeral director expenses for both bodies....not only this, we come to know
that Mr. Afaq Amin's family is in very critical financial condition...so
every member of this Society share 100 dollors each and send 2000 dollors to
victim's wife in Pakistan.

If you analyse this proformance from our Society in a period of less than
one year....do you think a word ""music group"" is suitable for us ?

Secondly import part was ""TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PANZ FAILIURE"".

We have a Society with some aims and objective which is older than a current
PANZ. We dont have any clash with PANZ or taking advantage of any
suituation. We, as a Pakistani, are a member of PANZ also so we respect
PANZ. and people like you with hidden names creating a missunderstanding
amongst the community....

Aisam wins doubles crown in Uzbekistan

LAHORE: Aisamul Haq Qureshi with Justin Bower of South Africa won the 2003 doubles title in Fergana defeating Kazakhstan’s Alexey Kedriouk and Ukraine’s Orest Tereshchuk 3-6, 7-6, (7/0), 6-4. The International Challenger Trophy was the year’s biggest event of Uzbekistan.

Aisam has become the first Muslim tennis player in Uzbekistan’s tennis history to lift the trophy at the hard courts of the City Council Complex of Fergana, said a message received here Tuesday.

Earlier in the semi final, Aisam and partner defeated the Swiss duo Yves Allegro and Marco Chiudinelli 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. In the quarters, they beat the local heroes Oleg Ogorodov and Vadim Kutsenko 6-4, 6-3.

The victory brought Aisam’s 21st international tennis title. With a doubles international ranking of 90, Aisam is the first Pakistani ever to be among the top 100 of the world tennis.

Pakistan donates medical equipment to China to help fight against SARS

 

ISLAMABAD, May 21  Pakistan has donated medical equipment and medicines worth $50,000 to Chine to help in its fight against the deadly virus of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in China.

 

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamli here, Foreign Office sources told Indianz post.

 

The people of Pakistan deeply pained at the outbreak of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in China.

 

The epidemic has not only affected Pakistan’s traditional friend China but many countries of the world. The disease has claimed several hundred lives in China.

 

Pakistan admires the Chinese government for taking effective measures to control the disease. The impressive results achieved so far demonstrate the strength and courage of the Chinese people and their wise leadership. Pakistan is confident that China would soon overcome this scourge.

 

As a token of friendship and solidarity, the government of Pakistan has decided to donate medical equipment and medicines worth US $ 50,000/- to China to help in its fight against the deadly virus.

 

A consignment of relief goods will be sent to Beijing shortly

CHAKWAL MAY 21.District and Session Judge Chakwal Ch:
Riaz Ahmad acquitted a young couple involved in the
famous Hadood-Ordinance case of Village Vero of Saddar
Police Station.  Saddar Police Chazkwal registered a
case against Navida Sultana and Javid as it was
alleged that Javid had abducted Naveeda Sultana on
2001.  Police arrested both the accused and sent
challan in the court.  The eye-witnesses change their
statement therefore of doubt was given to the accused
and they were acquitted. 
CHAKWAL MAY 21.A speedy passenger van collided with
the emergency both on Lahore-Islamabad Motorway near
Kallar Kahar and in this process the coach turn
turtled and more than 10 passengers sustained multiple
injuries.  Lahore bound coach No.IDT-9688 collided
with the emergency call both near Village Sumbal and
driver lost control over the steering and it turn
turtled.  Kallar Kahar Police rushed on the spot and
sent all the injured passengers to the hospital while
driver Muammad Younas was arrested and case was
registered against him.  In the meantime Nila Police
Chakwal recovered a 30 bore pistol from accused Aurang
Zeb resident of Village Jamalwal while City Police
Chakwal have recovered 38 stolen bags from Arshad
Mehmood S/O Mehboob Ellahi.  Separate cases were
registered against the accused and they were sent in
the judicial lockup.
CHAKWAL MAY 21.The Chief of Tanzeem-Al-Akhwan Moulana
Muhammad Akram Awan said on Wednesday that principally
the offices of Chief of Army Staff and President of
Pakistan should be separated but this does not mean
that the whole democratic process that costs billions
of rupees should be put at stake and the problems of
the people should be set aside and whole parliament
should be made stand still.  He was talking to the
newsmen at Dar-ul-Irfan Munara and was confident that
the leaders of Muthida Majlis-e-Amal will behave
because if Assemblies were desolved Muthida
Majlis-e-Amal will lost their Government in two
provinces while it cannot win the numbers of assembly
seats if the election were held recently after the
dissolution of assemblies.  He advised both Government
and opposition that they should adopt formula of give
and take and the matter of LFO should be solved
amicably as the nation is not in position of imposing
of an other Marshallaw or adventureism  in the
country.  Moulana Akram Awan was of the view that in
NWFP province Muthida Majlis-e-Amal enjoyed full
powers but after five months its Government was not in
position to bring any change or provide any relief to
the common people and even the Islamic system in not
yet been implemented as it was promised in the general
election. 

Young man wins Rs 5m in TV game show

KARACHI: Pakistan’s richest television game show, “Kya aap banein-ge karor-pati?” was formally defeated this week, when a nobody from Karachi won the game’s second biggest prize of Rs 5,000,000, half the largest possible prize.

Asif Ahmed, a computer engineer and a teacher by profession, became the first man to win such a huge prize. The show, which is a franchise of the world-famous television show, “Do you want to be a millionaire?” is hosted by comedian-actor Moin Akhtar. The recording of this episode will be aired on Thursday at 8pm in 126 countries on ARY Digital. The show has so far telecast five episodes. Host Moin Akhtar said between the show that Asif was making him nervous—if he wasn’t joking. During a chat with organizers, Asif he had never even seen the programme. Shujat, Burney call on Italian envoy

 

ISLAMABAD May 19 : President Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) and parliamentary leader in the National Assembly Ch. Shujat Hussain and Chairman Ansar Burney Welfare Trust advocate Ansar Burney called on Italian ambassador to Pakistan ANGELO GABRIELE DE-CEGLIE and informed them about the detention of 15 innocent Pakistani people in Italy.

 

Ch. Shujat Hussain told the ambassador that 15 Pakistani had gone to Italy to get employment there through Pakistani Travel Gents. He pointed out the 15 Pakistani persons were working in a Shipping Company but the shipping Company deprived them of their wages and describing them as terrorists sent to Jail whereas they had nothing to do with the terrorism.

 

He further said that Ansar Burney has already fulfilled all necessary formalities for the release of these persons. He asked the ambassador to use his good office for the release of 15 Pakistani people. The Italian envoy ensured Ch. Shujat Hussain and Burney that he would convey their sentiments to his Government and would recommend early decision in the case of 15 Pakistanis jailed in Italy  -indianz post

CHAKWAL May, 19. The meeting of District Nazim with
the opposition Nazmeen and members of District Council
Chakwal on Monday converted into an open katchery and
opposition members reacted very strongly as they were
totally ignored in the development schemes from the
last 20 months despite their repeated walkout and hue
and cry made in the session of District Assembly
Chakwal.  More than 20 male and female members meet
District Nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas at his office on
the curtsey call of District Nazim and incidentally
this was the first meeting between District Nazim and
opposition members.  The opposition members Colonel ®
Raja MuhammadYounas, Raja Muhammad Ejaz, Malik Feroz
Khan, Tariq Mehmood Advocate, Pir Nisar Qasim, Rehana
Babar Salim, Asma Zaheer and Amina Begum told the
District Nazim that the opposition members were not
given even a single penny from the development schemes
and the development funds were disbursed among those
people who were defeated by them in the local bodies
election.  Colonel Raja Muhammad Younas was very
critical of the policies of the District Nazim and was
of the view that ignoring the opposition Nazmeen in
the development program is a total negation of
devolution of power plan started by the Government.
Rehana Babar Salim told the Nazim that the even women
opposition members were not involved and the claim of
33 percent representation in the District, Tehsil and
Union Council level made null and void as the women
was made a show peace in the house and women were not
allowed to participate in the development of District
Chakwal.  Speaking on this occasion Sardar Ghulam
Abbas was of the view that the attitude of the
opposition in the house was throughout negative during
the last twenty months and very dirty language was
used by opposition members against the treasury
benches and even glasses were thrown from the
opposition members to the Nazmeen belonging to
treasury benches.  Sardar Ghulam Abbas however assured
that if opposition will adopted a positive attitude he
will be provided necessary development funds for their
schemes as without the participation of opposition a
real democracy cannot flourish.  District Nazim
assured that the opposition members will be
compensated therefore the opposition should come
healthy and positive attitude they will be
accommodated accordingly. 

CHAKWAL May, 19. A twenty years old young un-married
girl was murdered at Village Karooli on Monday in the
area of Kallar Kahar Police Station from 30 kilometer
from here.  Zulakhan Bibi had developed illicit
relation with a boy in the Village and the accused
Zafar Iqbal S/O Noor Muhammad who was the cousin of
the deceased shot her dead when Zulakhan Bibi was at
his house.  Kallar Kahar Police after having a
postmortem of Zulakhan Bibi from District Headquarter
Hospital Chakwal registered a case against the accused
who was managed to make good his escape from the
scene.  Police registered a case and started searching
the accused.

Police and City police in two different operations
nabbed four thieves and recovered stolen articles
amounting lacs of Rupees. Inspector special
investigation cell Ch: Jawad Akram arrested Gul Badeen
son of Akbar Khan, Haseeb Ullah Khan son of Muhib
Ullah Khan and saeed Gul son of Lal Khan and recovered
four colored T.V sets,VCP, VCD, double Casett C.D
Decks, Sewing Machine, double Casett Tape recorder
amounting one lac and fifteen thousands. These
valuable articles were stolen from Al Khaki
electronics Bhaun Road Chakwal owned by the Arif
Shahzad son of Muhammad Bashir. In another operation
City Police chakwal nabbed Wasim Ahmed and recovered
stolen articles from a General Store of mohallah
Sarpak Chakwal. Police is confidant that some more
thefts that were committed during the past few months
are expected to be recovered from these thieves after
investigation.

CHAKWAL MAY 18: Lahore High Cout Rawalpindi Bench
granted bail to an accused involved in a famous Arslan
abduction case. The accused Muhammad Bashir son of
Fazal khan resident of Padshan was arrested by Dhudial
police a year ago and police did not Chalaned him and
even he was not declared innocent but still he was in
judicial lockup and the subordinate courts dismissed
his bail petitions. Muhammad Bashir moved his
application before the high court and Justice Mr.
Molvi Anwar Ulhaq after hearing the arguments, granted
bail to the accused. It is interested that Dhudial
Police was failed to recover seven year old Arslan who
was abducted from Village Padshan and still not
recovered after more than one year. The high up of
police constituted five investigation teams to recover
the abductee but police is reluctant to recover Arslan
and traced the real culprits involved in this heinous
crime.

CHAKWAL MAY 18: The unknown thieves broken the roof
top of a General Store near Rescue 15 at Tala Gang
Road in between Saturday and Sunday night and the
thieves were managed to make good their escape with
valuable articles amounting thousands of Rupees. The
owner of the General Store told the police that when
he came to his shop in the morning, he found the roof
of the Store was broken and valuable articles from the
store was missing. City police Chakwal registered a
case and started investigation.

CHAKWAL 17 May, A woman was killed while four other
passengers received multiple injuries  at Chakwal
Talagang Road near village Murid some 10 KM from here
on Saturday in a head on collision between a Suzuki
carry and a speedy truck. According to detail the
carry vane No. IDC-3985 carrying passenger returning
from Patalian Darbar and when they were crossing near
village Murid a speedy truck No. PN-9915 appeared on
the scene from the opposite direction and hit the
carry vain resulting killing a women Bakhat Begum on
the spot while four other were shifted to District
Headquarter Hospital Chakwal in a critical condition.
The drier of the truck fled away from the scene after
the accident, however Sadder police Chakwal on the
report of Aslam Pervez S/O Ghulam Hussain registered a
case against the accused driver and started searching
him.
CHAKWAL 17 May,  The division bench of the Lahore
Highcourt Rawalpindi bench upheld the capital
punishment awarded by District and Session judge
Chakwal of the accused Raisham Khan S/O Allah Dittah
R/O village Bikhari Kalan. The accused Raisham Khan
was awarded death sentence on 24-01-96 as the double
murder case was proved. The accused had killed his
real brother Muhammad Sadiq and his daughter Irshad
Begum with dagger. The learned judges of division
bench of the high court after hearing the appeal of
the accused, retained the death sentence of the
subordinate court and wrote that the accused had
committed a henious crime therefore deserved no mercy.
CHAKWAL May 17, The vacancy of District Officer
Education Chakwal is lying vacant from the past four
months and male and female teachers of district
Chakwal are facing great hardships. Due to this
vacancy the bills, holidays and other day to day
important matters remained stand still and thus
causing hinderence in the smooth function of the

CHAKWAL MAY 16: The trial of famous CIA Chakwal Police Gang Rape Case started in the court of Additional Distt. And Session Judge Chakwal Mr. Hassan Mabroor Kiani on Friday. The court summoned four important witnesses and directed them to appear before the court at second June. The court also recorded the statements of two witnesses’ secretary General Press Club Chakwal Kh: Babar Saleem and Muhammad Ashraf son of Imam Baksh resident of village Harrar. Kh: Babar Saleem in his statement told the court that he had published the news of Gang Rape in good faith and according to the written application of Nasreen Akhtar and her daughter Rozina Shaheen who alleged that the ASI of CIA police Chakwal and Six others Gang Raped Rozina Shaheen and put her in and illegal confinement in a house at Mohallah Dhoke Moman Chakwal. Muhammad Ashraf the other eyewitness told the court that Nasreen Akhter and her daughter Rozina Shaheen was residing in his neighbor and they had hired a room for their residence. He told that ASI Mukhtar Ahmed of CIA police Chakwal along with three police officials stormed into the house on 30/5/95 and they dragged both mother and her daughter from the room and threw them in the police van. Khalid Mahmood Driver with hand-cuffed was also present in the van. Ashraf told that he resisted but the police was reluctant to oblige him and they disappeared from the scene. Later on next day City police Chakwal released both Khalid Mehmood and Nasreem Akhter but Rozina Shaeen was missing for ten days and on 10/6/95 when Rozina Shaeen was released she went to her mother Nasreen Akhter and told her that she was gang rapped by the CIA police officials and three other private persons. The learned Judge after recording the statement summoned the remaining four witnesses, DSP Sadar Circle Chakwal, Woman Medical Officer Dr. Muneera Jaleel who conducted the medical examination of Rozina Shaheen, Chairman Human Rights commission of Pakistan Mr. Kamran Rizvi who also conducted an inquiry on the direction of then prime minister Mrs. Be-Nazeer Bhuto, Magistrate Dr. Mubeen Aslam who conducted a judicial inquiry on the direction of Distt. Magistrate Chakwal. It is recalled that Nasreen Akhter filed a private complaint in the court of additional Distt. And Session Judge Chakwal when Police did not registered case. The learned additional session judge at that time dismissed the private complaint without examining the witnesses cited by the complainant. Nasreen Akhter filed an appeal in the federal shariat court and after the trial of six years in the Shariat Court, the Division Bench remanded back the case to Distt. And session judge Chakwal for retrial.

CHAKWAL MAY 16: The grant of Rs. 200 millions for Chakwal Water Supply Scheme and sewerage went into doldrums as Distt. Nazim Chakwal wanted these funds for the whole Distt. and the four MPA’s of Distt. Chakwal also supported the version of Distt. Nazim Chakwal, and this matter is pending before provincial Secretary local Govt. for final settlement. This was told by Tehsil Nazim Chakwal Mr. Amir Bhatti on Friday in a press conference. Tehsil Nazim told that this does not mean that some serious differences have been developed in the ranks of General Majeed Malik Group and Distt. Nazim Group who had made an Alliance during the local bodies election. Replying to another question Amir Bhatti told that he belonged to General Majeed Malik Group and if no confidence motion was brought against him as it was speculated, then the present alliance of both the groups will not be survived. He further told that there is no bar of bringing in no confidence motion against Tehsil Nazim as it was banned for District Nazims and Union Nazims till 30th June and there is possibility of some more extension in this regard. He further told that the development funds of Rs. 80 millions were disbursed to all the members of Tehsil council Chakwal ir-respective of their political affiliation.

Two buffaloes were stolen from village Murid in the
area of sadder police station in between Tuesday and
Wednesday night. Qirat Abbas S/O Ghulam Ali lodged a
report a sadder police station that two buffaloes
amounting rupees 80 thousand were outside the Dhoke at
Bhoun road, unknown thieves were managed to make good
their escape from the scene and disappeared.

Choa Saiden Shah as WAPDA authorities is considering
to link WAPDA sub division Choa Saiden Shah with the
newly created division at Pind Dadan Khan. Choa Saiden
Shah is a tehsil of district Chakwal and it is linked
with the Xen Chakwal. The people of Choa Saiden Shah
demanded that the Choa Saiden Shah sub division should
remain with Chakwal as the problems of the people will
be increase as people are reluctant to go another
district as Pind Dadan Khan located in district Jhelum
and Chairman WAPDA recently upgraded Pind Dadan Khan
as new division of WAPDA.

CHAKWAL 13 MAY
Three armed daciots had field night at Sarian
Bashart road in the area of Choa Saiden Shah police
station in between Monday and Tuesday night some 30 KM
from here. The daciots block the road and on pistol
point looted four truck driver, one car and two
passenger pickup. They looted thousand of rupees cash
and other valuable belonging of the people. The
daciots completed their assault on the people and they
were manage to make good their escape in the darkness
in the nearest jungle. Choa saiden Shah police on the
report of truck driver Shakeel Ahmad R/O Sarian Chowk
registered a case against the accuse and started
investigation.

Three Afghanies were booked by Choa Saiden Shah
police as these Afghanies were failed to produce the
required documents for their stay in Pakistan. Gram
Muhammad S/O Muhammad Lal, Gul Akbar S/O Amir Gul, and
Waseem Gul were booked under 14 foreign act and they
were sent in the judicial lock up. In the meantime
three thieves were nabbed by city police Chakwal and
recovered stolen articles from them. Those who were
arrested Muhammad Siddique S/O Muhammad Rafique of Nia
Mohallah Chakwal, Muhammad Wasim S/O Shaukhat R/O
Sarafa Bazar and Muhammad Amin of Moti Bazar Chakwal.
Police has recovered colour T.V, 800 rupees cash and
other valuable articles amounting thousand of rupees.
Police have registered separated cased against them.

District and session judge Chakwal Ch. Riaz Ahmad on
Tuesday handed over a minor child into the custody of
his father while a minor girl was handed over to her
mother. Farzana Yasmin W/O Muhammad Iqbal R/O Samman
Abad Jabair pur filed a case before the court that her
husban snatched her son and daughter. The court
summoned the father and after listening the arguments
handed Nauman Ejaz who is father while minor girl
Shabnam Batool was handed over to her mother.

pages but only one page with some relevant informatin of your activities for
Pakistan community. I am hoping you will answer my previous questions about
ethnic Hui and follow up after that meeting. You must keep distance between
governance and day to day management. Executives are there to give you
stretigic directions not for attending meetings and you fail to produce the
objectives of this meeting or you have no interest to face the community.

CHAKWAL MAY 11. The devolution of power plan is high-jacked in District Chakwal and one way traffic is adopted throughout the last 20 months and those elected Union Nazmeen who oppose the District Nazim in his election were put in the corner and a single pane was not allocated to them for development, however those people who were defeated in the local bodies election are supervising the development schemes and minting money from it. This was stated by leader of the opposition in District Assembly Major 짰 Abrar Hussain Shah on Saturday in his office at Union Council Dhudial. The leader of the opposition alleged that various irregularities, corruption, mall practices and nepotism are under way in the District Government Chakwal and various front man were awarded contracts amounting million of rupees. He demanded that Punjab Government should appoint a high court judge to probe into the mis-use of power and other irregularities committed by the District Government Chakwal. He also alleged that the turbines were distributed among the kith ad kin of Union Nazmeen who were supporting the District Government in the house. Major 짰 Abrar Hussain Shah further told that the house of District Council has become a rubber stamp, therefore 1.1 million people of District Chakwal has lost their confidence on the District Government, therefore people had demanding that the present situation should be rectified so that the great new system of District Government and its importance should be restored on the common people.

CHAKWAL MAY 11. District Nazim Chakwal under section 144 banned the entry of un necessary people in the area of examination centers during the examination of PTC, CT, B.Ed, FA, BA, B.Sc, BBA, DIT and post graduate courses, however roll number slip holders and the staff appointed in the examination centers would be exempted. This order is in-force forthwith and will remain in-force during these examination.

CHAKWAL MAY 11. Nila Police Chakwal has recovered a mouser and ten bullets from an accused involved in a dacoity on motorway. The accused Bahadar Khan S/O Shah Jahan resident of NWFP province was arrested by the Police and during the investigation the accused handed over the mouser that was used in the coach dacoity in the area of Nila Police Station a month ago. Police has registered a separate case of possession of illicit arms against the dacoit.

CHAKWAL MAY 9. The present District Government System
will definitely stay in the presence of President of
Pakistan General Pervaiz Musharraf and Chief Minister
Ch: Pervaiz Ellahi as various relatives of Chief
Minister Punjab are holding the offices in this system
and even Ch: Pervaiz Ellahi himself was a product of
this local bodies system.  Chief Minister constituted
a committee which will submit his report and
recommendation regarding good relationship between
members of assemblies and District Nazmeen for
strengthening of the system.  This was stated by
former advisor to Chief Minister Raja Munnawar Ahmad
in meet the press program that was held on Friday at
Chakwal Press Club.  Her daughter MPA Maha Raja was
also present on this occasion and she briefed the
newsmen about her development schemes that was
identified by her in Tehsil Chakwal and Tehsil Choa
Saiden Shah amounting rupees 10 millions.  Mrs. Maha
Raja was confident that there will be no confrontation
between members of assemblies and District Nazmeen as
for as the development program are concerned.  Mrs.
Maha Raja replying to an other question told that the
women of District Chakwal had a very limited resources
and to promote education and awareness among the women

Raja Munawar Ahmad elaborating about his view on the
new District Government System, he was critical that
the District Ombudsman was not appointed yet, the
election of Village and mohallah councils were not
held that were mandatory in the new District
Government System.  However he was confident that
things will be improved as the Punjab Government is
working day and night to improve this new system.
Raja Munawar Ahmad paid rich tribute to General
Pervaiz Musharraf as without imposing Marshal law the
democracy was restored and power was transferred to
the elective representatives of the people.  Raja
Munawar Ahmad was of the view that the presence of
General Pervaiz Musharraf in uniform for three years
is the need of the hour and for the interest of
democracy in the country.  Mrs. Maha Raja announced
construction of boundary ball, tennis and badminton
courts in Chakwal Press Club with the cost of rupees
three lacs from her development program. 

CHAKWAL MAY 9. A proclaimed offender was arrested by
the Saddar Police Chakwal in a dramatic way.  The
accused Nazar Hussain S/O Munawar Khan resident of
Village Buchal Kalan was declared proclaimed offender
by the court in a fraud case as he declared himself
the only legal hears of his mother while some times
later an other brother of him appeared in the court
and contradict the statement of his brother.  A case
of fraud and cheating was registered against him.
Nazar Hussain along with Nasir Mehmood S/O Muhammad
Khan and Khalid Gull Bahar S/O Muhammad Nawaz was
coming to Chakwal in a car No. JMA-4782 and they were
checked by Saddar Police and found Nazar Hussain as a
proclaimed offender while Nasir Mehmood and Khalid
Gull Bahar was drunked.  They were examined the
District Headquarter Hospital Chakwal and it was
confirmed that they used liquor.  Saddar Police
Chakwal registered separate cases against the two
drunked  and sent in the judicial lockup. 

Tennis Ball Double Wicket Cricket Tournament

Pakistan Association of New Zealand is holding a one day Double Wicket Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament on 18th of May (Sunday) at Lynnfield College Ground White Swan Road, Mt Roskill. Here is brief of the relevant

Entry Fee: 20$ a pair
Last Date of entry: 15 May
Draws Date: 17 May

The tournament is primarily aimed at providing some good cricketing environment with a bit of entertainment for every one. We want maximum participation from common community members (as players as well as spectators) to make the event colorful and enjoyable at a much wider scale. This means professionalism is not our first requirement.

However we hope all professional cricketers will also be participating to enlighten the tournament with their skill and excellence. We will definitely try to distinguish between professional and non-professional players while going through DRAWS in the first round so that every body might have his share of active enjoyment and participation.

This may also be noted that Management Committee is looking for not more than 20 pairs at maximum (since we have to finish it by the afternoon) and thus it is strongly recommended to get yourself registered immediately since “First Come First Serve” rule will be applied strictly and there will be no entry after 15th of May or on the play day. Therefore make sure you are not going to miss the cricket gala just because of laziness.
