Gas up

A guy comes into a coffee shop and places his order.

He says, "I want 3 flat tires and a pair of headlights."

The waitress, not wanting to appear stupid,

goes to the kitchen and asks the cook,

"This guy out there just ordered 3 flat tires and a pair of headlights.

What does he think, this is an auto parts store?"

"No," the cook says,

"3 flat tires means 3 pancakes

and a pair of headlights is 2 eggs sunny side up."

"Oh." says the waitress.

The waitress thinks about this and then she

spoons up a bowl of beans and gives it to the customer.

The guy says "What are the beans for?"

The waitress replies,

"I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires and headlights,

that you might want to gas up

URGENT NOTICE

During the last 18 months the Labour team have been lobbying the National Government to fix the problems that have seen too many religious leaders denied visas to work and stay in this country.  We have received many concerns from the Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh and Jewish communities over this issue.

We are pleased that the Minister of Immigration, Jonathan Coleman, has finally listened and has announced that his officials will be carrying out a ‘Review of immigration policies for religious workers’.
We would urge anyone who has been affected by the current regulations governing the immigration of religious workers to make a submission to the Department of Labour.  Please download and print the submission form from: http://bit.ly/9BleuT.  The deadline for submissions is very tight, and we need your feedback by Friday 9 July 2010.
If would like to discuss this issue with any of our Labour team don’t hesitate to contact us.  If you do make a submission we would welcome a copy of this so that we can support you.
We look forward to reading your responses, and having your voices heard on this important issue.

Budget misses opportunity to help Ethnic people of New Zealand

By the time inflation, GST increases and increased costs in childcare, petrol and electricity prices are passed on most Asian families will be worse off under National’s tax swindle,” Ashraf Choudhary

“This budget has meant most of our people, who are middle and low income earners, will at the end of the day be significantly out of pocket. This isn’t the tax step change John Key promised, it’s a tax swindle,” Ashraf Choudhary.

“A family with 2 young kids even end up $55 per week worse off after GST, inflation and ECE charges‬ are all taken into account.

“The reality is the people on very high incomes are, much better off following yesterday’s budget, people on average incomes are worse off.

“This year ACC premiums have gone up, health services are being cut and now GST has been increased, as has childcare costs. That is simply not fair that the majority of New Zealanders are paying for the tax cuts of a few people on very high incomes.

“People who were already struggling will continue to struggle following yesterday’s budget.

Labour strongly opposes the increase on GST, the cuts to health services and the increase in costs of childcare to parents.

Ethnic families realise that while National have offered them tax cuts, price increase will mean they will be no better off.

PANZ vs The Chamber

As high commission of Pakistan is visiting Auckland rift in notables of Pakistani community is getting visible. A so called business group is emerging to compete against legitimate PANZ. It is same group who wanted to stand against Mr. Khan but could not make it now they are knocking at back doors of PANZ . These so called business people are only good in business as they would be charging community money to meet and greet our high commission. These people only emerge when some dignity arrive in Auckland. Do they know how PANZ struggle to do 14th Aug or other function or other functions, instead of making rift in community they should join hand in hand with PANZ . No matter how is running . If you have some personality clash or grudge against PANZ or its leadership come through proper Chanel rather then looking in back doors. Please don’t make rift in drift

On other hand PANZ , which is true representative of Pakistan community in NZ is organising a function in honour of high commission where community would have FREE mix and mingle time with Pak Ambassador

MUSLIM

American citizen denied re-entry to US

By AGENCIES

WASHINGTON, D.C.: A prominent national Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization called on the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to end the "forced exile" of a Muslim citizen who was recently detained by Mexican authorities and allegedly questioned about his faith, apparently at the behest of the FBI.

The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said Raymond Earl Knaeble IV, a 29-year-old California-born convert to Islam, has been stranded in Colombia since March after being placed on a no-fly list for unknown reasons. His ordeal, and that of other American Muslims denied re-entry to the US, was detailed last month by the Washington Post. (Knaeble was in Colombia to visit relatives.)

Earlier this week, Knaeble traveled to Mexico, hoping to cross into the United States overland through that nation. He was stopped by Mexican authorities as he got off the plane and asked, "Are you Muslim?" He was then detained for 15 hours and asked many questions relating to his faith, such as how many wives he has (one) and the differences between "Sunni" and "Shia" Muslims. Knaeble said the questions he was asked were the same as those asked during many hours of FBI interrogation in Colombia.

"It is un-American and illegal for a citizen who has not been accused of, let alone charged with, any crime to be denied entry to his own country without adequate explanation or the possibility of challenging punishments applied without due process of law," said CAIR Legal Counsel Nadhira Al-Khalili, who is Knaeble's attorney. "We call on the Department of Justice to end Knaeble's forced exile and to address the disturbing issue of the other Americans who are similarly being denied re-entry to their own country."

She noted that Knaeble was forced to fly from Mexico back to Colombia, when he could have just as easily been placed on a flight to the United States.

Al-Khalili said that if law enforcement authorities have any further questions about Knaeble or his activities, they should allow him to enter the United States and deal with him as they would any other citizen. The FBI has so far refused to discuss Knaeble's case with his legal representative.

CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
