This do-it-yourself conversion guide is very affordable (under $150) and EASY with step-by-step instructions.

The conversion WILL NOT void your warranty because it is 100% reversible! It's easy to install and remove.

Create your own water hybrid for under $150!

Did you know that you can convert your car to a water-burning car? You can run your car on water, supplemental to gasoline, to increase your car's fuel efficiency and reduce your fuel costs significantly.

Works on gas or diesel powered cars, vans, trucks, and SUVs. (Not tested on hybrids)

Your car will become at least 40% more fuel efficient and produce cleaner emissions.

Convert your car for the lowest price. Similar conversion kits cost up to $600 and up!

Works with plain tap water. No need for distilled water or special water additives!

We've simplified the process. The steps are easy, and the materials are affordable.

Our easy conversion guide will show you how to use electricity from your car's battery to separate water into a gas called HHO (2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen). HHO, also called Brown's Gas or Hydroxy, burns smoothly and provides significant energy - while the end product is just H2O! HHO provides the atomic power of Hydrogen, while maintaining the stability of water.

Can Water Really Power a Car?

The answer is YES, ABSOLUTELY! We have made the technology to build a water-burning hybrid easy and affordable.

Water can be used to fuel a car when used as a supplement to gasoline. In fact, very little water is needed! only one quart of water provides over 1800 gallons of HHO gas which can literally last for months and significantly increase your vehicle's fuel efficiently, improve emissions quality, and save you money.

Experts Agree: Water is Viable Fuel Technology

Thousands of successful water-conversions around the world are proof that this technology works and will soon catch on! Some industry insiders say its just a matter of time before this water-burning technology will be standard in new automobiles. One expert estimates most cars will be using this technology by 2012, but until the auto manufacturers catch up, you can use this technology for yourself today at a very reasonable set-up cost.

How Much Does it Cost?

The conversion guide is on sale today (check bottom of page for price) and all of the raw materials cost less than $60 and are easy to find at your local hardware and auto-parts stores. Once you get the conversion set-up, you can even start converting your friends' and family's cars and help them spend less money on gas.

The guide includes over 90 pages of detailed instructions that are very easy to follow and offer the best value and performance available anywhere.

In fact, we received a testimonial from a customer in Estes Park, Colorado who is advertising his conversion services on Craigslist after learning how to do the conversion using this easy-to-follow eBook. (John - you can consider this free advertising!)

We encourage you to help other people set-up their own conversions with our information! After all, The more cars we can get running on less fuel, the better for our environment.

How Safe is it?

The process is very safe because the combustible gas is extracted as needed and burned steadily from the water, unlike larger volumes of pure hydrogen which are highly flammable.

WHY COMPRESS HYDROGEN IN DANGEROUS HIGH-PRESSURE TANKS WHEN IT IS ALREADY "COMPRESSED" IN PLAIN WATER - AND CAN BE EASILY AND SAFELY RELEASED??!

Our set-up produces hydrogen as your car needs it, rather than using storage tanks. Thousands of cars have been safely converted without any issues or incidents.

Best of all, this conversion process is completely reversible so it will not void your auto manufacturers warranty. It simply acts as an add-on to significantly increase your fuel efficiency.

WOMEN IN ISLAM

Thieves Targeting Women Worshippers
Fatima Sidiya, Arab News

Worshippers at the Imam Malik Mosque in the Al-Rawdah district of Jeddah had their attention drawn to the screaming of women in the mosque’s women section during Isha prayers on Saturday.

The commotion was caused after two men entered the women’s part of the mosque to rob women worshippers, while two of their accomplices stood guard outside. According to eyewitnesses the four men then fled in a blue car.

“My mom went out with two of our maids, my siblings and our driver,” said the 17-year-old daughter of a woman who was robbed. “At prayer time the women and children went to the women’s section, whereas the driver and my teenage brother went to the men’s section,” she added.

“Toward the end of the prayer a youth entered the mosque. He told one of the maids who was taking care of the young daughter that he was looking for his mother,” said the daughter, who asked her name not be published.

She added that the youth then stole some handbags and other belongings.

“When the maid started screaming, a man came in and held her mouth from the back to prevent her from screaming. The gang then fled before anyone could come and help from the men’s section,” she said, adding that handbags containing cash, credit cards and mobile phones were stolen.

Meanwhile, hearing the screams the imam hastened the prayer. However, by the end of the prayer, the four men had fled.

The imam told Arab News that the mosque usually hires a female security guard during Ramadan, as many women come to offer prayers. “After this incident the mosque committee has decided to hire a full time female security guard,” he said, adding that the guard’s salary would be collected from committee members.

A police officer at the scene refused to speak to Arab News or give any clarifications, saying, “nothing has happened.”

This is not the first time that thieves have targeted women. A woman, who did not want her name published, said that she was robbed in front of a mosque while waiting for her husband in a car along with her eight-year-old daughter.

“While waiting, a man opened the door and started looking for my bag. Out of fear, I tried to push him off but he pulled me out of the car, took my bag and fled. My daughter and I were left totally terrified,” she said.

Col. Ali Al-Shahrani, head of the Al-Salama police station in Jeddah, said that several such robberies have taken place and that people often do not inform the police.

“We only have one record on Saturday about a woman whose bag was robbed in the street. We have no details about anything happening at the Imam Malik Mosque,” he said.

Al-Shahrani said that the police are in the process of sending a report to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Dawa and Guidance to increase security at mosques, especially in the women’s sections.

He added that thieves often target women, as they are in separate sections and men are busy with the prayers.

He also added that the goal of these gangs is to only rob money and mobile phones.

Al-Zuman Becomes First Saudi to Conquer Everest
Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Arab News

Al-Zuman unfurled the Saudi flag on the summit at 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday.

RIYADH, 22 May 2008 — Thirty-year-old Farouk Saad Hamad Al-Zuman planted a Saudi flag on the summit of Mt. Everest yesterday, becoming the first Saudi to conquer the world’s highest peak. The green Saudi flag was unfurled at 12.30 p.m. Saudi time.

“Farouk has made all of us proud,” said Aasma Al-Yahya, Al-Zuman’s mother. “I thank Allah that my son’s purpose and the Saudi nation’s mission have been successfully completed.”

Three members of the 10-person expedition failed to reach the top, with one Japanese climber dying on the way. “But Al-Zuman made history and has now been fondly nicknamed the ‘Sir Edmund Hillary of Saudi Arabia,’” said Al-Zuman’s boss and sponsor, Sultan Al-Bazie, CEO of Attariq Communications.

“A total of seven members of our expedition team succeeded to reach the top,” said Al-Zuman, a PR strategist and graduate of Oregon State University in the US.

Al-Zuman’s mother said there were tense moments during the climb. “We were concerned about his safety and health as we lost contact for quite some time after Farouk’s satellite phone failed to work or got disrupted from time to time.”

Hamid Ansari, the Nepalese ambassador to the Kingdom, congratulated the climber. “I was happy to know that this young Saudi has reached the summit and unfurled the Saudi flag, which bears the name of Allah and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” said Ansari.

“This climb was made in the wake of harsh climatic conditions and deadly blizzards. It is not an easy task,” he added.

Al-Zuman, a black belt in Tae Kwondo and professional swimmer, is an experienced mountain climber. Previously, he scaled Mt. Rainer in Washington, US, Mt. Halealala in Maui, Hawaii, and Mt. Shasta in California.

Al-Zuman is the first Arab this year to climb the peak. A large number of people have died attempting to reach the top since the first historic climb by New Zealander Edmund Hillary and his Nepalese guide Tenzing Norgay in 1953. The death rate for Mt. Everest climbers is about one in 10.

BUSH APOLOGY

Bush apology for Koran shooting

President George W Bush (file image)
The Iraqi prime minister's office said Mr Bush had called to apologise

US President George W Bush has made a personal apology over the shooting of a Koran by an American soldier, the White House has confirmed.

Mr Bush made the apology during one of his regular video conferences with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki.

The soldier was sent home by the US military after the Muslim holy book was found riddled with bullet holes at a shooting range by Iraqi police.

The US military said last week that the soldier would be disciplined.

He was unnamed, but was said to be a staff sergeant in a sniper section.

'People's anger'

Mr Maliki's office said in a statement: "The American president apologised on behalf of the United States... promising to present the soldier to the courts."

Mr Maliki had expressed the anger felt by the Iraqi people, his office said.

A US military spokesman last week described the shooting as "both serious and deeply troubling", but stressed it was an "isolated incident and a result of one soldier's actions".

US military authorities have already apologised to community leaders in the area, west of Baghdad.

The military presented the elders with a new copy of the Koran

Unemployment, Drugs Behind Rising Crime
P.K. Abdul Ghafour, Arab News

JEDDAH, 19 May 2008 — A study conducted by the Interior Ministry’s research center has found that burglary cases in the Kingdom are on the rise, especially in the main cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah and Dammam.

“Every day several cases of burglary take place across the country,” said Dr. Sultan Al-Anqari, director of the center.

The study revealed that unemployment and the spread of drug abuse among Saudi youth are the main reasons for increasing crime in the Kingdom. “Three-fourths of 816 burglars interviewed for the study were unemployed and aged below 30,” Al-Anqari said. Saudis topped the list, followed by Yemenis and Chadians.

Al-Anqari, who conducted the study with the support of Khaled Al-Madi, Abdul Mohsen Al-Saif, Hamad Abu Humaid, Abdul Rahman Al-Jaloud and Muslim Al-Muslim, said the majority of robbers were secondary school certificate holders. Their economic condition was bad and two-thirds of them did not have a house to live in, he added.

Burglars committed their crime generally on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays when residents of houses were away, the study found. About 61.4 percent of burglars said they committed their crimes at night. Some of them collected information about the house before the crime. “The majority of thefts took place when the inhabitants were away and when the thieves found it easy to enter the houses,” the study said.

About 33 percent of burglars said they committed the crime for money, while others said they did it when they were in bad company and when they had plenty of spare time. “Most burglars said they entered the house when they found the gates open,” Al-Anqari said.

The largest number of burglaries took place in Riyadh (36.4 percent), followed by Makkah and Dammam. The majority of the victims were Saudis and Pakistanis who lived in the heart of cities (80.2 percent). The majority of thefts took place inside houses while others were inside the walls surrounding the homes. Two-thirds of the victims said the criminals entered their houses after breaking the main doors. Jewelry was the main target of burglars (31.1 percent), followed by money, electrical appliances, gas cylinders and official and personal documents, guns and furniture. The study also revealed that most victims (78.1 percent) did not inform their neighbors or friends that they would be away and did not ask the neighbors to keep an eye on the premises.

About 93.5 percent of houses robbed had no insurance coverage against thefts, the study found. The victims were quick in informing police after discovering the crimes and in 75.4 percent of cases, police arrived at the house immediately after the crime, it said, adding that most victims were happy with the police response.

The study contained recommendations to prevent burglary, including the intensification of police patrols, fighting unemployment and drugs, imposition of tough punishments on burglars, flushing out illegal foreigners, enlightening the public on taking precautionary measures and the installation of warning devices.

The Ministry of Social Affairs was urged to take measures to improve the condition of the poor and needy, especially in slum areas, and meet their welfare requirements. The study emphasized the need to take care of youngsters who represented the majority of burglars and create more jobs for them.

The two suspects were taken to the police station for more questioning while all equipment inside the clandestine factory were seized. Al-Mayman urged citizens not to hesitate to inform police when they notice any suspicious activities.

Muslims in America Before Columbus

"Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!" (The Holy Qur'an 2:201)
Muslims in America Before Columbus‏
Asalaam Alekum Wr WB
Interesting article:

Introduction

Numerous evidences suggest that Muslims from Spain and West Africa arrived in the Americas at least five centuries before Columbus. It is recorded, for example that in the mid-tenth century during the rule of the Umayyad Caliph Abdul-Rahman III (929-961), Muslims of African origin sailed westward from the Spanish port of Delba (Palos) into the "Ocean of darkness and fog." They returned after a long absence with much booty from a "strange and curious land." It is evident that people of Muslim origin are known to have accompanied Columbus and subsequent Spanish explorers to the New World.

The last Muslim stronghold in Spain, Granada, fell to the Christians in 1492 CE, just before the Spanish inquisition was launched. To escape persecution, many non-Christians fled or embraced Catholicism. At least two documents imply the presence of Muslims in Spanish America before 1550 CE. Despite the fact that a decree issued in 1539 CE, by Charles V, King of Spain, forbade the grandsons of Muslims who had been burned at the stake to migrate to the West Indies. This decree was ratified in 1543 CE, and an order for the expulsion of all Muslims from overseas Spanish territories was subsequently published. Many references on the Muslim arrival in the Americas are available. They are summarized in the following notes:
Historic Documents
l. A Muslim historian and geographer Abul-Hassan Ali Ibn Al-Hussain Al-Masudi (871 - 957 CE) wrote in his book 'Muruj Adh-dhahab wa Maadin al-Jawhar' (The Meadows of Gold and Quarries of Jewels) that during the rule of the Muslim Caliph of Spain Abdullah Ibn Muhammad (888 - 912 CE), a Muslim navigator Khashkhash Ibn Saeed Ibn Aswad of Cordoba, Spain sailed from Delba (Palos) in 889 CE, crossed the Atlantic, reached an unknown territory (Ard Majhoola) and returned with fabulous treasures. In Al-Masudi's map of the world there is a large area in the ocean of darkness and fog (the Atlantic Ocean) which he referred to as the unknown territory (the Americas).

2.
A Muslim historian Abu Bakr Ibn Umar Al-Gutiyya narrated that during the reign of the Muslim Caliph of Spain, Hisham II (976 -1009 CE), another Muslim navigator Ibn Farrukh of Granada sailed from Kadesh (February 999 CE) into the Atlantic, landed in Gando (Great Canary Islands) visiting King Guanariga, and continued westward where he saw and named two islands, Capraria and Pluitana. He arrived back in Spain in May 999 CE.

3.
Columbus sailed from Palos (Delba), Spain. He was bound for Gomera (Canary Islands) - Gomera is an Arabic word meaning 'small firebrand' - there he fell in love with Beatriz Bobadilla, daughter of the first captain General of the island (the family name Bobadilla is derived from the Arab Islamic name Abouabdilla). Nevertheless, the Bobadilla clan was not easy to ignore. Another Bobadilla (Francisco), later as the royal commissioner, put Columbus in chains and transferred him from Santo Domingo back to Spain (November 1500 CE). The Bobadilla family was related to Abbasid dynasty of Seville (1031 -1091 CE).

On October 12, 1492 CE, Columbus landed on a little island in the Bahamas that was called Guanahani by the natives. Renamed San Salvador by Columbus, Guanahani is derived from Mandinka and modified Arabic words. Guana (Ikhwana) means 'brothers' and Hani is an Arabic name. Therefore the original name of the island was 'Hani Brothers.'

Ferdinand Columbus, the son of Christopher, wrote about the blacks seen by his father in Honduras: "The people who live farther east of Pointe Cavinas, as far as Cape Gracios a Dios, are almost black in color." At the same time in this very same region, lived a tribe of Muslim natives known as Almamy. In Mandinka and Arabic languages Almamy was the designation of "Al-Imam" or "Al-Imamu," the person who leads the Prayer, or in some cases, the chief of the community, and/or a member of the Imami Muslim community.

4.
A renowned American historian and linguist Leo Weiner of Harvard University, in his book Africa and The Discovery of America (1920) wrote that Columbus was well aware of the Mandinka presence in the New World and that the West African Muslims had spread throughout the Caribbean, Central, South and North American territories, including Canada, where they were trading and intermarrying with the Iroquois and Algonquin Indians.

Geographic Explorations

1.
The famous Muslim geographer and cartographer Al-Sharif Al-Idrisi (1099 - 1166 CE) wrote in his famous book 'Nuzhat al-Mushtaq fi-Ikhtiraq al-Afaq (Excursion of the longing in crossing horizons) that a group of seafarers (from North Africa) sailed into the sea of darkness and fog (the Atlantic ocean) from Lisbon (Portugal), in order to discover what was in it and what extent were its limits. They finally reached an island that had people and cultivation....on the fourth day, a translator spoke to them in the Arabic language.

2.
The Muslim reference books mentioned a well-documented description of a journey across the sea of fog and darkness by Shaikh Zayn-eddine Ali ben Fadhel Al-Mazandarani. His journey started from Tarfay (south Morocco) during the reign of the King Abu-Yacoub Sidi Youssef (1286 - 1307 CE) sixth of the Marinid dynasty, to Green Island in the Caribbean Sea in 1291 CE (690 AH). The details of his ocean journey are mentioned in Islamic references, and many Muslim scholars are aware of this recorded historical event.

3.
The Muslim historian Chihab Addine Abul-Abbas Ahmad ben Fadhl Al-Umari (1300 - 1384 CE, 700 - 786 AH) described in detail the geographical explorations beyond the sea of fog and darkness of Male's sultans in his famous book 'Masaalik al-absaar fi Mamaalik al-amsaar (The Pathways of Sights in The Provinces of Kingdoms).

4.
Sultan Mansa Kankan Musa (1312 - 1337 CE) was the world renowned Mandinka monarch of the West African Islamic empire of Mali. While traveling to Makkah on his famous Hajj in 1324 CE, he informed the scholars of the Mamluk Bahri Sultan court (an-Nasir-eddin Muhammad III, 1309 - 1340 CE) in Cairo that his brother, Sultan Abu Bakari I (1285 - 1312 CE) had undertaken two expeditions into the Atlantic ocean. When the sultan did not return to Timbuktu from the second voyage of 1311 CE, Mansa Musa became sultan of the empire.

5.
Columbus and early Spanish and Portuguese explorers were able to voyage across the Atlantic (a distance of 24,000 Kilometers) thanks to Muslim geographical and navigational information, in particular maps made by Muslim traders, including Al-Masudi (871 - 957 CE) in his book 'Akhbar Az-Zaman' (History of The World) which is based on material gathered in Africa and Asia. As a matter of fact, Columbus had two captains of Muslim origin during his first transatlantic voyage: Martin Alonso Pinzon was the captain of the Pinta, and his brother Vicente Yanex Pinzon was the captain of the Nina. They were wealthy, expert ship outfitters who helped organize the Columbus expedition and repaired the flagship Santa Maria. They did this at their own expense for both commercial and political reasons. The Pinzon family was related to Abuzayan Muhammad III (1362 - 66 CE), the Moroccan sultan of the Marinid dynasty (1196 - 1465 CE).

Arabic (Islamic) Inscriptions

1.
Anthropologists have proven that the Mandinkas under Mansa Musa's instructions explored many parts of North America via the Mississippi and other rivers systems. At Four Corners, Arizona, writings show that they even brought elephants from Africa to the area.

2.
Columbus admitted in his papers that on Monday, October 21, 1492 CE while his ship was sailing near Gibara on the north-east coast of Cuba, he saw a mosque on the top of a beautiful mountain. The ruins of mosques and minarets with inscriptions of Qur'anic verses have been discovered in Cuba, Mexico, Texas and Nevada.

3.
During his second voyage, Columbus was told by the Indians of Espanola (Haiti), that Black people had been to the island before his arrival. For proof they presented Columbus with the spears of these African Muslims. These weapons were tipped with a yellow metal that the Indians called Guanine, a word of West African derivation meaning 'gold alloy.' Oddly enough,it is related to the Arabic world 'Ghinaa' which means 'Wealth.' Columbus brought some Guanines back to Spain and had them tested. He learned that the metal was 18 parts gold (56.25 percent), six parts silver (18.75 percent and eight parts copper (25 percent), the same ratio as the metal produced in African metal shops of Guinea.

4.
In 1498 CE, on his third voyage to the New World, Columbus landed in Trinidad. Later, he sighted the South American continent, where some of his crew went ashore and found natives using colorful handkerchiefs of symmetrically woven cotton. Columbus noticed these handkerchiefs resembled the head dresses and loincloths of Guinea in their colors, style and function. He referred to them as Almayzars. Almayzar is an Arabic word for 'wrapper,' 'cover,' 'apron' and or 'skirting,' which was the cloth the Moors (Spanish or North African Muslims) imported from West Africa (Guinea) into Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

During this voyage, Columbus was surprised that the married women wore cotton panties (bragas) and he wondered where these natives learned their modesty. Hernando Cortez, Spanish conqueror, described the dress of the Indian women as long veils and the dress of Indian men as 'breechcloth painted in the style of Moorish draperies.' Ferdinand Columbus called the native cotton garments 'breechcloths of the same design and cloth as the shawls worn by the Moorish women of Granada.' Even the similarity of the children's hammocks to those found in North Africa was uncanny.

5.
Dr. Barry Fell (Harvard University) introduced in his book Saga America - 1980 solid scientific evidence supporting the arrival, centuries before Columbus, of Muslims from North and West Africa. Dr. Fell discovered the existence of Muslim schools at Valley of Fire, Allan Springs, Logomarsino, Keyhole Canyon, Washoe and Hickison Summit Pass (Nevada), Mesa Verde (Colorado), Mimbres Valley (New Mexico) and Tipper Canoe (Indiana) dating back to 700-800 CE. Engraved on rocks in the old western US, he found texts, diagrams and charts representing the last surviving fragments of what was once a system of schools - at both an elementary and higher levels. The language of instruction was North African Arabic written with old Kufic Arabic script. The subjects of instruction included writing, reading, arithmetic, religion, history, geography, mathematics, astronomy and sea navigation. The descendants of the Muslim visitors of North America are members of the present Iroquois, Algonquin, Anasazi, Hohokam and Olmec native people.

6.
There are 565 names of places (villages, towns, cities, mountains, lakes, rivers, etc.) in USA (484) and Canada (81) which are derived from Islamic and Arabic roots. These places were originally named by the natives in pre-Columbian period. Some of these names carried holy meanings such as: Mecca (Indiana) - 720 inhabitants, Makkah Indian tribe (Washington), Medina (Idaho) - 2100, Medina (NY) - 8500, Medina and Hazen (North Dakota) - 1100 and 5000, respectively, Medina (Ohio) - 12,000, Medina (Tennessee) - 1100, Medina (Texas) - 26,000, Medina (Ontario) -1200, Mahomet (Illinois) - 3200, Mona (Utah) - 1100, Arva (Ontario) - 700, and many others. A careful study of the names of the native Indian tribes revealed that many names are derived from Arab and Islamic roots and origins, i.e. Anasazi, Apache, Arawak, Arikana, Chavin Cherokee, Cree, Hohokam, Hupa, Hopi, Makkah, Mahigan, Mohawk, Nazca, Zulu, Zuni, etc.

BUSH blames INDIA for rising food prices

Now, Bush blames India for rising food prices

3 May 2008

WASHINGTON: Prosperity in countries like India is "good" but it triggers increased demand for "better nutrition" which in turn leads to higher food prices, US President George W Bush said.
The comments come close on the heels of US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's controversial statement that "apparent improvement" in the diets of people in India and China and consequent food export caps is among the causes of the current global food crisis.

About 85% of Indian are not able to earn 1doller per day. If we take in consideration of to Bush's blender and foolish these Indian are making problem for the world by changing their diet and searching better nutrition!!! !

He persist that the third world should eat American and Israeli missile and bomb by enjoying American model demo-crazy

US eats 5 times more than India per capita

Even as the world spins into a global food crisis, a popular theory — voiced by the likes of US President George W Bush and secretary of state Condoleezza Rice — is that the Chinese and Indians are responsible. The 'logic': due to zooming incomes, they are eating more, causing worldwide shortages. But is that true?

These figures are collated by the US Department of Agriculture. US per capita grain consumption rose from 946 kg in 2003 to 1046 kg last year. India's per capita consumption remained static in this period.

NEW YORK: The US and the European Union have taken a "criminal path" by encouraging use of food crops to produce bio-fuels and thus contributing to an "explosive rise" in global food prices, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to food has said.

Last year, the US used a third of its corn crop to create bio-fuels, while the European Union is planning to have 10 per cent of its need supplied by bio-fuels, he said and called for a for a five-year moratorium on the production of bio-fuels.

Qualities of those who should Maintain our Mosques

I n the name of Allah the Most Gracious Most Merciful

Most mosques hold, at one time or another, elections for new majlis ash-shura (Board of Directors). The question often arises of what sort of persons should be nominated and then elected for this majlis. In this regard the Book of God gives us clear guidance. In unequivocal terms it tells us:

"Only those shall maintain the mosques of Allah who believe in God and the last day, establish regular prayer and practice regular charity and fear none (at all) except God. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance." (9:18)

Since the main function of the majlis will be to maintain the mosque, it is clear that its members should fulfill the three conditions mentioned in the above verse, i.e.

1) Belief in God and the hereafter

2) Practice of regular prayer and regular charity

3) Fearing none but Allah

Let us explain these conditions in some detail and see how we can recognize those who fulfill them. After reading this explanation, many will probably feel that there is hardly anyone in their community who fulfils the above conditions in their entirety. But while this is most likely the case, we should not make it a reason to ignore the Qur'anic guidance. If we cannot find brothers and sisters who fulfill the above conditions in their entirety, we should nominate and elect those who come closest to doing so.

Belief in God and the hereafter

Those who fulfill the first condition mentioned in the Qur'anic verse are not primarily motivated by the desire to gain importance or power in the community or by any other similar worldly desire. They engage in Islamic work for the pleasure of Allah (i.e. no pleasure of anything that is not God), for jannah (eternal bliss) in the hereafter and for their inner satisfaction in this life.

A sign of such people is that they will not go after projects whose main attraction is a glamour value, e.g. building a mosque whether or not it is the most needed project, only in order to be able to say to the community: "look! We, too, have built a mosque".

Those who have genuine faith in God and the hereafter will not concentrate on projects whose results can be seen quickly and in tangible form. They will go, rather, for the projects that the community really needs.

For the glory of Islam and for the welfare of Muslims in this part of the world, there is so much work that badly needs to be done. Many Muslims do not see the presence of this type of work and if it is pointed out to them they will not take it up because it requires patience and prolonged effort whose results may not be seen quickly, and in some cases, not even in one's lifetime.

But those who have faith in God and the hereafter and seek the pleasure of Allah will not only be able to see the work that needs to be done but also take it up, if they are able to. This is because in their hearts they are sure that if they do not see the fruits of their efforts in this short life of theirs, they will most certainly see them in the life that they are sure will come after this life.

Another sign of those who have genuine faith in God and the hereafter is that they keep a generously devoting part of their time, money and energy for Islamic work, whether or not they have any official position in this or that organization or center. They will give their time, money and energy to Islam and Muslims not only when they hold such positions but also when they are out of various organizations amongst us, no matter whether they are out because they never joined any organization or because they were ousted by an intriguing individual or clique or by an honest and fair election. This is because God and jannah for which they work exist regardless of whether they are in this or that organization or out of it.

Practice of regular prayer and regular charity

In addition to faith and sincerity of intention, those who should maintain our mosques must also practice at least the main injunctions of the Shariah (code of conduct). Of these injunctions, by far the most important are the commandments to practice regular prayer and regular charity, through which a person comes closer to his Creator and to his fellow human beings. If a person follows these two injunctions, both in letter and in spirit, then he has already fulfilled the main part of the Shariah and to fulfill the other parts will become easy for him. That is why in the verse under consideration here, Allah mentions only these two injunctions.

It is relatively easy to recognize those who are regular in their prayers. But charity is something that may be (and sometimes should be) practiced in secret. So by what sign can we recognize those who practice it? By a generous and open character. Those who practice charity are usually ready to forgive and forget. Instead of keeping grudges and talking behind the backs of others they prefer to settle personal differences by talking things over. They also welcome with open arms any cooperation with other Muslim brothers and sisters, provided such cooperation does not sacrifice any clear Islamic principles.

Fearing none but Allah

The importance of this condition is not fully realized by the Muslims these days, because most of our ulama (i.e. powers other than Allah) in their speeches and writings do not stress this condition in the same way in which they stress some other parts of Islamic teachings (such as prohibition of alcohol and free mixing of sexes, commandment to pray, fasting, etc.; in other words, those parts of Islam, promulgation of which will get these ulama into any trouble with the authorities). A result of this is that in choosing members of our mosque committees, etc. we never think of this third condition. We may ask ourselves whether a brother considered for membership in a majlis ash-shura or mosque committee is regular in his prayers, eats halal food, etc. but we never ask ourselves whether there are any signs that he fears only Allah (i.e. he does not fear anything that is not God). But the Holy Qur'an is crystal clear: fearing none but Allah is a condition that must be fulfilled by those who are to maintain and manage our mosques. This is, of course, because in Islam mosques are not just places of worship but centers of Islamic work in all its aspects, including declaration of truth and support of all just causes, and this is a task that mosque committees can by no means perform properly if the hearts of their members are full of all kinds of fears of powers other than Allah.

One of the signs of those who fear none but Allah is that they give more importance to what is right and good for Islam and Muslims than to "what people will say". if they see clearly that something is right and good for Islam and Muslims they will declare it and go for it, even if they know that some people will laugh at them or consider them "odd" or criticize and blame them or start a campaign of ghyba (or backbiting) against them. For, the Holy Qur'an says that one of the characteristics of the believers is that they are not afraid of the blames of a blamer in following and upholding that which is right.

Another sign of those who fear none but Allah is that they don't tell lies. They say what they mean and mean what they say, except when there is a good reason to do otherwise.(1) The Holy Qur'an says:

"Speak words that are straight" (33:70)

A result of the habit of speaking straight is the habit of fulfilling one's promises. Those who say one thing but have something quite different in their hearts often make promises that they do not intend to keep and therefore do not keep. Yet the Holy Qur'an greatly and often stresses the need to fulfill one's promises. At one place it mentions fulfilling one's word along with such important qualities of the believers as regularity and humility in prayers and avoiding adultery. (23:1-8)

A third sign of those who fear none but Allah is that they will be seen engaged in some form of struggle against batil and zulm (falsehood and injustice) and will be willing to face the dangers that such struggle (or jihad) inevitably entails. When in the way of such jihad it is necessary to raise their voices against corrupt and repressive regimes of their countries they will do so. But at the same time they will not make foolish steps but rather make calculated and effective sacrifices to advance the cause of truth and justice. In others words, they combine courage, bravery and wisdom.

One such good reason, for example, would be the need to protect a secret of a genuinely Islamic state from the enemies of Islam and Muslims. In this case, one can deliberately give wrong information to the enemy to confuse him.
