Misjument

"We misjudged their tenacity," a senior U.S. intelligence official says of Iraq's leaders. "These guys are driven by a hatred (toward the United States) that we may have underestimated."

The failed effort appears to reflect a miscalculation by the Pentagon and CIA of the willingness or ability of Iraq's political and military leaders to overthrow Saddam. Officials said they believed that if they could get Iraq's leaders to surrender, support for the regime would crumble. They also originally said a conflict inside the capital, Baghdad, could be avoided. Now, they fear the war could drag on longer than expected. U.S. intelligence officials speculate that some Iraqi generals won't surrender because they have been rewarded for their loyalty with power, houses and cars and they believe they can outlast the attacks. Or, fearing retribution against themselves or their families, they won't capitulate until Saddam has been captured or killed. Still other Iraqis genuinely dislike the United States. Their hatred is fed by more than a decade of economic sanctions that followed Iraq's defeat in the Gulf War in 1991. The sanctions have crippled the economy and hurt Iraq's people, Iraqi leaders say.

The effort to topple Saddam involved telephone calls, e-mails and face-to-face appeals to Iraq's top leaders by Iraqi opposition members, CIA operatives and others, U.S. intelligence officials say. The generals and political leaders were promised safety, asylum, cash and a role in Iraq's new government if they defected, mounted a coup or agreed not to use biological or chemical weapons against coalition forces. If they refused, the generals and political leaders were warned they would be killed or face war crimes tribunals.

Ten days ago, U.S. officials were so confident they could persuade Iraqi leaders to surrender that they delayed the bombing of Baghdad by several hours. Since then, Iraqi officials have repeatedly rejected surrender appeals, U.S. intelligence officials say. They say they have concluded that Saddam's inner circle is unlikely to give up.

One Iraqi general says U.S. officials should not be surprised. "(The) Iraqi people are ready to fight. We are ready to defend President Saddam Hussein," Maj. Gen. Ali Musa Ramadan, a commander in the Ministry of Defense, said by telephone Sunday. "We don't want George Bush's bribes."

Ramadan says he and other Iraqi generals "laugh and hang up" on Iraqi opposition leaders when they call to make the offers. "They are wasting their time," he says. "They are stupid people."

Profiles of Iraq's generals and political leaders written by the Pentagon to assess the chances that the men might surrender indicated they would capitulate quickly, intelligence officials say. They say the profiles were based mostly on information supplied by Iraqi opposition groups. "Our intelligence assessments were overly optimistic," a senior U.S. military official says. "They were simply wrong."

Other officials point out that the war is only a week old and predict that Iraq's generals and political leaders will surrender if they see U.S. forces moving toward Baghdad. They say their effort to get them to capitulate will continue, but at a reduced rate.

A sad day for the world !!!

This day will be remembered in history when America anounced war on Iraq. An unjust, unlawfull and selfish war. It will be remembered as a sad day. A day when lives of people in Iraq were not considered worthy enough. When a super power attacked a small state already in rumble and famine to get oil for its power to continue, for its war heads to keep making weapons of mass destruction and for its industries to keep making them rich. This time America could not even get a handfull of countries to support them. They try to buy there vote with money and threat but still the crime was just to heinous to be a part of  for most countries. They used all there propaganda machines, TV, radio, press etc. to try to fool people into believing that this war is because of threat of terrorism, yet they had no solid proof to link 911 with Iraq. Its been there trump card "911" to get unconditional support from the people of America to carry out there "business" plans. But still that did not work. People around the world are furious, they cannot understand how a war against Iraq can be justified, when Saddam is complying with U.N. resolutions, when he is letting the inspectors in, when he is destroying his missiles, and making every effort to retain peace. This time even the leader of a rogue state seemed more peacefull and sensible than the head of the so called "most just and liberal" nation in the world. Is this war going to stop terrorism. Is this war going to make people esp. Muslims around the world happy with America. Even so we might seet more attacks of terrorism, in retaliation and in anger. This war will change the image of America forever in the eyes of the world. Its a pity, millions of poor, innocent and defenceless people will be killed in this war for the sake of power and money. We thought we entered the 21st century. We thougt we entered an ear of peace and understanding, of communication and living together. But it seems history always repeats itself. Whatever will be the outcome of this war, it wont be good for America and its children, for they will forever be blamed for murdering innocent people. Some kid in Iraq, will watch as his family dies in a war he had no part in, will see his country destroyed and then will see a puppet government trying to rule his country as per America. What will go on in his mind, what will prevent him from being a terrorist, a murderer. Think about it. " Every action has an equal and opposite reaction" Newtons's third law.

Israeli terrorism against America

Israeli terrorism against America

In 1954, the Israeli government launched a secret operation of terror against the United States called Operation Suzannah. It plotted to murder Americans and blow up American installations in Egypt. Their plan was to leave false evidence that the Egyptians did it, so as to make America go to war against Egypt on the side of Israel. Jewish agents succeeded in blowing up some post offices and American libraries in Cairo and Alexandria. On the way to blow up an American movie house, the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Theater, an Israeli’s agent’s bomb went off prematurely. Thankfully, for both Egypt and for America, the plot was then exposed and stopped in its early stages.

Because of the capture of the Israeli agents, the world learned of this Israeli treachery and the Israeli Foreign Minister, Pinhas Lavon, was later forced to resign. The whole episode became known as the Lavon Affair. Today, the Jewish-dominated American media and publishing establishment deftly cover up this Israeli treachery against us. Most Americans know nothing about it. For instance, only a slight mention of the Lavon Affair is found in the popular Encarta Encyclopedia. It is in an article about Ben Gurion authored by the pro-Zionist, Bernard Reich. By the way, the article’s author illustrates a typical media pattern. When Americans suppose they are reading unbiased Encyclopedia or news magazine accounts, they more often than not are reading distorted accounts written by ardent Jewish Zionists.

Ben-Gurion returned to politics in 1955 to replace Minister of Defense Pinhas Lavon—who resigned after a failed attempt to sabotage Egypt's relations with the West.(25)

Note how the article meekly says, “a failed attempt to sabotage Egypt’s relations with the West.” What does this mean? “Sabotaging relations“ sounds as though Israel might have just said a few nasty things about Egypt and America behind each other’s back. The intentional deception used in this article by its Jewish author is typical of the distortions that go on countless times in the mass media.

The line in Encarta should read:

“--who was forced to resign after Israel was caught committing terrorist bombings against the United States to treacherously incite America to war against Israel’s enemy.”

I am sure that ninety percent of those who read this have never heard of it. Some may think I am making this all up. Well, if you still might doubt that Israel has committed these terrorist acts against America in Egypt, here is a quote from a recent article appearing in the Jewish magazine Moment, written by Samuel Katz and meant for its small Jewish audience. It is more forward, yet still omits the provocative word terrorism, a word Israel uses when Palestinians blow up libraries and cinemas.

And the failures were as common as the spectacular successes. In the mid '50s, A'man (the Jewish Defense Agency) suffered a serious setback during the infamous "Operation Suzannah," when Israeli agents provoked Jews in Egypt to attack American and British targets and incite anti-Western sentiment. Many Jews were arrested, and some were executed. The bungled operation was a severe embarrassment for the government of Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and his defense minister, Pinhas Lavon(26)

So, in the Lavon Affair we learned how our so-called “best friend in the Mideast,” Israel, rewards the United States for its unconditional monetary and military support: by committing terrorism against us! Think about the fact that most Americans have never even heard about this Israeli terrorist attack against us.

If the Egyptian government had been behind this terror against America, we would have rightly considered it an act of war and we would have attacked Egypt right back, just as we have done against Afghanistan. And the press; they would have clamored for such attacks just as they demanded attacks against Afghanistan. In fact, we attacked Afghanistan on far less grounds than we have for attacking Israel. No evidence exists that Afghanistan approved of or even knew anything about the attack on the World Trade Center; but in the Lavon Affair, the Israeli government committed a direct act of war against the United States. We, of course, did not bomb Tel Aviv in retaliation. We did not sever our diplomatic relations. In fact, we did not even cut off our billions of dollars in monetary and military aid!

Any American government official who would have given aid to the Japanese after the attack on Pearl Harbor would have been prosecuted as a traitor to the United States.

Let me be perfectly blunt. Those Americans in government who continued our support of Israel after it had committed terrorist acts against the people of the United States -- clearly committed treason against our country.

If America’s leaders, after Israel’s terrorist attack against us in the Lavon Affair, would simply have stopped their treasonous aid to Israel, there would have been no subsequent acts of terror against us such as the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks.

Israel’s terrorist attack on the USS Liberty

In 1967, during the Six Day War, Israel again committed a grievous terrorist act against the United States of America. On June 8, Israel used unmarked fighters and torpedo boats to launch an hour and one-half attack on the American Navy ship the USS Liberty, costing 34 American lives and 171 wounded.(27) The Israelis first attacked the Liberty’s radio towers in an attempt to stop the Sixth Fleet from learning that the Israelis were the attackers. After unmarked Israeli fighters horrendously bombed and strafed the Liberty, Israel sent in torpedo boats to finish the job. They even machine gunned the deployed life rafts in an effort to ensure that there would be no survivors (witnesses) who could expose them.

Only by the heroism and ingenuity of the captain and crew of the USS Liberty kept the Israeli plan from succeeding. They were able to keep the ship afloat as well as contact the fleet and let it know that Israel, rather than Egypt, that had attacked the ship. Knowing that its plan had been exposed, Israel withdrew and meekly claimed that their attack was a case of mistaken identity. They said that they mistook the USS Liberty for an Egyptian ship.

The United States Secretary of State at the time, Dean Rusk, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Thomas Moorer, both say the attack was no accident, that Israel deliberately attacked the USS Liberty. For instance, it was clear day with a stiff breeze and the Liberty sported both a huge American flag and large international identification numbers on her hull. Israeli jets buzzed the USS Liberty long before the attack, flying so close that the members of the Liberty crew could even see their hand waves as they passed. Just as in the Lavon Affair, Israel hoped to blame this act of war on their enemy, the Egyptians. This time, only the courage and resourcefulness of the Liberty’s crew prevented a further compounding of the travesty.

The Jewish-dominated American media expressed no outrage for the attack and supinely accepted the specious Israeli excuse for it. Even though our own Secretary of State and our own Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said the Israeli attack was deliberate, the Jewish Lobby was even able to prevent a formal Congressional inquiry into the attack. In contrast, the USS Liberty’s sister ship, the USS Pueblo, was captured by North Korea the following year (1968) with the loss of only one life, yet within a year the U.S. Congress launched a formal inquiry into that attack. There still has been no formal inquiry into the attack on the USS Liberty. The Liberty’s commanding officer, Captain William McGonagle, was awarded America’s highest honor, the Congressional Medal of Honor, for his splendid courage during the Israeli attack. But, he was given the award in a quiet ceremony in the US Navy Yard, rather than the White House (as is customary), so as not to hurt the image of the very enemy who killed 34 of his comrades and wounded him and 174 more Americans on the Liberty!

How did the political leaders of the United States respond to this Israeli act of war against it? Did America bomb Tel Aviv as it did Kabul, Afghanistan? No, the Israeli-controlled American government along with the Jewish-controlled media committed a clear case of treason against America by covering up this vicious terrorist attack, and continues to send billions of American tax dollars to Israel in military and monetary aid.

Again, I invoke the example of Pearl Harbor. Any American government official who would have given aid or comfort to Japan after the attack in 1941 would have been prosecuted as a traitor to the United States. I charge that those American government officials who collaborate with the Jewish Lobby and media in continuing to support Israel after its attack on the USS Liberty – are traitors against the United States of America!

If, after Israel’s treacherous attack on the USS Liberty, we would have simply stopped treasonously supporting the Israeli terrorist state; we would surely not have suffered the terrorism of September 11, 2001.

responsible for his defeat in the recent general
election as all the resources and Government funds
were used against him and still he secured 77
thousands votes.  He further told that during his past
five general election the polling percentage in his
constituency was never more then 50 percent but on
10th October the polling ratio in his constituency was
59 percent and these 9 percent votes that were 33,000
in numbers was the main cause of his defeat.  Sardar

Is It Right

Foreign Minister  Mr. Khurshid M. Kasuri, released the following statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Pakistan deplores the initiation of military action against Iraq.  Pakistan had consistently called on Iraq to fulfill its U.N. Security Council disarmament obligations fully and speedily. We regret that President Saddam Hussein did not consider all options to save the Iraqi people from death and destruction.  We had stressed that the search for a peaceful solution should remain a priority and that all avenues must be explored and exhausted since the use of force is envisaged in the UN Charter only under extreme situations.

In the Security Council and outside, we had urged that the Permanent Members evolve a consensus, as this was their traditional responsibility, to ensure the unity of the Council, which would have been the best solution for resolving the Iraq crisis.  It was unfortunate that a P-5 consensus could not be reached, and that the efforts of the non-Permanent Members, including Pakistan, who tried their best, were not able to bridge this divide.

On this sad day, we reaffirm our conviction that : -

i)               Priority must be given to avert a humanitarian disaster for the Iraqi people.

ii)             Civilian casualties, infrastructural damage particularly to the civic services and the holy places, must be strictly avoided.

iii)           Military action should not prolong.

iv)           The territorial integrity and sovereignty of Iraq must be preserved, and its rights over its natural resources.

v)             The fundamental rights of the people of Iraq, including over their governance, should be respected.

vi)           The Security Council must resume its primary responsibility, under the U.N. Charter for the maintenance of international peace and security, in order to ensure these pressing objectives with which the international community is now faced.

This course of events should not be considered as setting any precedent in the conduct of inter-state relations.  Pakistan firmly believes in preserving the centrality of the United Nations, observance of Charter principles by all States, and the implementation of the resolutions of the Security Council without selectivity or discrimination.

The Security Council must uphold international legality equitably. It must implement all Security Council resolutions including those on Jammu and Kashmir, and also Palestine, whose peoples have been struggling and dying for over fifty years.

Pakistan will continue to work within the Security Council and elsewhere towards these international objectives and towards the restoration of peace and security in Iraq and the region.

Pakistan is ready to send humanitarian assistance to Iraq, as our contribution to meet the humanitarian challenge with which the international community is now faced with.

The need of the hour is to help the Iraqi people.  Pakistan will not be found wanting.

Hot News (March 21)

CHAKWAL MAR 21: If five hundred to one thousand dead
bodies of American soldiers will go back to USA from
Iraq, the 52 states of USA will be disintegrated and
Iraq will give a very tuff resistance as every citizen
of Iraq have got military training. This was stated by
chief of Tanzeem Al-Akhwan Molana Muhammad Akram Awan
in a press conference on Thursday at Siqara Academy
Munara some 40 kilo meters from here. He was confident
that the war on Iraq would not be a walk over for USA
as it happened in Afghanistan. Molana Akram Awan
claimed that the real target of USA is Saudi Arab and
Pakistan, therefore Islamic countries should join
hands together if they wanted to survive, otherwise
USA will crushed all the Islamic Countries which had
the resources and there is a possibility of any
threats to the benefits of USA. Molana Akram Awan was
of the view that without using the ground forces it
will be impossible for USA to capture Iraq therefore
casualties of American soldiers will be more than
their expectations. He appreciated the role of
Pakistan Govt. as it did not become a party on the
Iraq Attack as it did in the killing of innocent
people in Afghanistan. The Americans wanted to capture
the oil resources of Iraq as the various
multinationals oil companies directors are sitting in
the American Cabinet and presently USA is purchasing
60% of its needs of oil from Saudi Arabia and by
crushing Iraq and capturing Iraqi’s oil fields then,
USA will teach the lesson to Saudi Arab and Pakistan ,
Molana Akram Awan concluded.

CHAKWAL MAR 21: There is no pressure from any side on
the Transporters and they had shifted into the two
Wagons stands inside the city by their own will as
they feels that there are better facilities available
for us and for the passengers in these two Wagon
stands as compared to the General Bus Stand run by
tehsil council chakwal which had a lack of facilities
for passengers and transporters and both were facing
hardships. This was stated by the transporters Soofi
Mushtaq Bhatti,Mumtaz Minhas, Nazeer Niazi, Malik
Azhar Awan at a press conference on Thursday. More
than 50 transporters who had shifted their vehicles
from general Bus Stand into the two Wagon stands
inside the city were also present on this occasion.
They alleged that tehsil council chakwal was receiving
million of rupees as taxes from the transporters but
in return tehsil council was not providing any
facility to the transporters and passengers at general
Bus Stand. They told that after shifting inside the
city wagon stands, their business have been improved
and more over the passengers of chakwal city are also
satisfied and the passengers feels safe and
comfortable. They announced that to express their
gratitude to the local administration, the
transporters of Distt. Chakwal will take out a rally
on 24th March in which the traders and people from all
walks of life will participate. They further alleged
that the staff of tehsil council were minting money
which is in thousands of rupees daily from the various
stands that were established in general bus stand and
this amount was divided in the high-ups of tehsil
council Chakwal.

Community development and leadership skills

"Community development and leadership skills"

Migrant Education Centre is an offshoot of umbrella organisation Shakti
Migrant Services Trust.

Mission:

To provide Quality Education, Training and Employment services to maximize
social, economic and cultural growth.

Vision:

짠 To be the best service provider for all the Migrants in Education and
Training sectors
짠 To provide culturally appropriate environment for all migrants
짠 To work as a team for social change
짠 To promote cross-cultural understanding between migrants and the host
community

Values:

We exist to serve the Ethnic communities. We value the Talent,
Resourcefulness and Dedication of our colleagues. We work and share our
knowledge, skills and experience to build shared success

Identification of the need for the project/ Rationale behind the project:

The influx of migrant communities into New Zealand in recent years has
invariably added to the richness of the diversity of the multicultural
society of New Zealand. Resettlement into the cultural fabric of New Zealand
undoubtedly brings people of similar language, cultural needs and background
together rather than geographical factors. What this leads to is the
inception of community groups. In the process of group formation, a
prominent person stands out in the group, who is able to get
Him-self elected or nominated as the leader of the group. Such leaders grace
themselves on occasions and have a tendency to act as gatekeepers for their
concerned communities.
A significant feature of such leaders is carrying out the leadership at
grassroots level. They need to know the pulse of the community in order to
bring about changes for the welfare of their community. They need to be able
to lobby for their community and its needs. Thus this calls for the need of
training these leaders who play such an important part for their respective
communities. In order to proceed towards gaining and developing and
sustaining the culture of the community and mingling with others alike at
the same time, the appointed person needs training. Thus this identifies the
need for training such leaders.

Project Name: Community development and Leadership Programme

Duration: The leadership programme is a three months course. Classes would
be held twice a week and repeated three times in a year.

Aim of the project:

To build the capacity within migrant and refugee community to be responsible
and develop their communities

Objectives:

쨌 Deliver the training in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner,
keeping the diversity of the community in mind.
쨌 Priority: Build the leadership within the community, who are
underdeveloped, under resourced and the small groups.
쨌 To gather different writing together, attend the training and establish
the network.
쨌 For community leaders, to understand the New Zealand way of life and
develop their community.

Hot News (17 March)

CHAKWAL March 17. Legal Frame Work order have become
a number problem of the country and the way opposition
members blocked the proceeding of National Assembly
and Senate, the Government and establishment should
have to give a serious thought and LFO must have to be
presented in the National Assembly as well as in the
Senate for discussion and after getting endorsement
from the Parliament it should be implemented.  This
was stated by Additional Secretary of Pakistan Muslim
League Q and former MNA Sardar Mansoor Hayat Tamman
while talking to the newsmen on Saturday at public
secretariat.  Sardar Mansoor Hayat Tamman was of the
view that amicable settlement of LFO is the need of
the hour because all the major political parties, Bar
Associations and other intellectuals had a consensus
in this regard that LFO must be put before the
parliament and it must have to be approved from the
parliament and then the approved part of LFO should be
inducted as a part of the constitution.  He further
said that the consensus of all the political parties
regarding LFO is must for the stability of political
and democratic process and it solution will also
enhance the economic stability in the country, which
is very important for the nation.  Replying to an
other question Sardar Mansoor Hayat Tamman was of the
view that the ordinance of devolution of power plan
should also be presented before the parliament as well
as in the Provincial Assemblies and then a legislation
on the recommendation of Provincial and Central
Government should be inducted in this new system and
the constitutional coverage is to be given to this
system so that people working with the new District
Government system should feel security.

Speach Of Prime Minister

Prime Minister Mir Zaffarullah Jamali addressed the nation take the nation into confidence over its vote on a United Nations Security Council resolution that will authorise a war against Iraq.

Some of the core points of his speech will be put down with the passage of his speech.

  • Thanks be to Almighty Allah as to this government has completely its four months peacefully. Over the period, I was awaiting anxiously to grab the opportunity and address the nation to elaborate on our so far achievements for the nation's betterment and our future agenda as well.
  • The government will continue respecting the provincial autonomy so that the country could go on the path of development to make it a prosperous country.
  • This government would do all-out efforts to fulfill its promises for national development and welfare made to the nations and come up to the people’s expectations. Power is being transferred to the elected representatives of the nation. Parliament has also much earlier set off working in a streamlined way. However, the major share of the responsibility of power transfer indiscriminately lies on the shoulders of President Pervez Musharraf. Eulogizing the efforts and shrewd sense of responsibility of the president Pervez Musharraf, the prime minister Jamali said the way the president has performed his responsibility of transferring the powers to the representatives of the nations in conformity with the Supreme Court’s decision has no example in the Pakistan’s history. To run the country efficiently and as per the wishes of the nations is purely a role of worthy politicians. And, the elected politicians are doing their best to meet the people’s expectations.
  • Truth is that the political and democratic institutions have unfortunately never been allowed to grow stable in Pakistan. Some times the marshal law was imposed in the country and some times it (the country) fell prey to the vested-interest groups, never allowing the democracy to survive in the country on continuous basis. Resultantly, This grim situation never let the democracy to take roots in the country. Drawing room politics always continued to dominate the scene. And, dark clouds always were allowed to cover the fact that personalities never last long. The actual matter is of healthy existence of the country as the personalities are ephemeral. However, no matter how much the national institutions are weak, they have to take the responsibility to run the country towards the right direction. Now, the doors to the revengeful politics have been closed. Forgetting the past, we will proceed for the national development and people’s betterment. I made it public as to never political cases will be filed against any political party, nor anyone will victimize on the basis of opposition. But, healthy criticism from any side will be encouraged for keeps and positive and development-oriented initiatives will always be supported.
  • Prime Minister of Pakistan Mir Zafarullah Jamali said on Tuesday that his government would fulfill all its promises and work for the welfare of the nation.

  • The Prime Minister said that his government would also provide job security to employees. He recalled that Pakistan has a graduate parliament for the first time.

  • He said that the government would also give priority to the health and agriculture sectors and added that payments to the growers would also be ensured.

  • The Prime Minister said, Pakistan today is confronted with numerous challenges. Poor is getting poorer and the society is faced with the problems of illiteracy, unemployment, health, injustice, corruption, reliance on foreign loans, terrorism and law and order.
  • "We are launching a national campaign from today to effectively tackle these challenges and hope that all segments of the society will contribute whole-heartedly ," he added.
  • Jamali said no society could progress without a sense of peace and security. "It will be unrealistic to expect from people to demonstrate their best abilities without feeling secure in their homes, villages and cities." He said, side by side sense of security, there is a problem of self-respect of the citizen. "Today, there is an atmosphere of insecurity and fear due to lawlessness and terrorism which has
made the people indifferent." He said, international conspiracies and weakness of our law-enforcing agencies were the major obstacles in establishing rule of law.
  • Subsequently, he said, the common man has lost faith in law and justice and has become oblivious to the matters of national interests with no desire to counter challenges faced by the country.
