CHAKWAL MAR 24: The construction of the project of sports complex in Chakwal City had a mixed reaction. The majority of the people hailed this project and they were of the view that after the construction of hundred shops in this sports complex, it will enhance the economic activities in the city. While on the other hand the traders who were running their business in the shops of Civil Club chakwal had paid five lacs to one million Rs. As a “Pagri” and they had some reservations about this project and they threatened that if they were not adjusted in the new construction of shops on previous rents, they will resists this project and will not vacate the shops. The other hurdles for this project is the land of old distt. Courts and buildings constructed on it at this piece of land owned by Lahore High Court  and only the construction on this project can be started if the Lahore High Court will issue no objection certificate in favour of the Distt. Govt. who wanted to construct this sports complex to enhance the sports activities in Distt. Chakwal. The local religious leaders also reacted very sharply and they warned the Distt. Govt that they will not allow to dismember the mosque that was in the premesis of old Distt. Courts. The independent circles claimed that this project is a wishfull thinking of Distt. Govt. as punjab Govt. already put all the big projects aside that were annonced by Governor Punjab Lf. General retired Kahlid Maqbool during his visit to Chakwal regarding the refrendum compaign and this project was also annonced by him. Punjab Govt. is also relcutant to provide funds for big projects to the Distt. Govt., therefore it is feared that this big project that is in the interest of the people of chakwal city will not be materalised.
