Identification of the need for the project/ Rationale behind the project:

The influx of migrant communities into New Zealand in recent years has
invariably added to the richness of the diversity of the multicultural
society of New Zealand. Resettlement into the cultural fabric of New Zealand
undoubtedly brings people of similar language, cultural needs and background
together rather than geographical factors. What this leads to is the
inception of community groups. In the process of group formation, a
prominent person stands out in the group, who is able to get
Him-self elected or nominated as the leader of the group. Such leaders grace
themselves on occasions and have a tendency to act as gatekeepers for their
concerned communities.
A significant feature of such leaders is carrying out the leadership at
grassroots level. They need to know the pulse of the community in order to
bring about changes for the welfare of their community. They need to be able
to lobby for their community and its needs. Thus this calls for the need of
training these leaders who play such an important part for their respective
communities. In order to proceed towards gaining and developing and
sustaining the culture of the community and mingling with others alike at
the same time, the appointed person needs training. Thus this identifies the
need for training such leaders.
