Afghanistan::Phil Goff

On Tuesday there was an urgent debate in the House on the Government’s decision to send the SAS back to Afghanistan. While Labour highly regards the SAS and our thoughts will be with them for their safety we disagree with the decision to redeploy them. Watch my speech to see why.

This continues Labour’s decision after 2005 as the war in Afghanistan became more a civil conflict than about Al Qaeda. We determined that our efforts through our PRT in Bamyan were a more constructive and effective and less risky way of achieving a positive outcome in Afghanistan. You can read my speech here.
I would be very interested to hear your views.
