A new association by the name of URDU HINDI CULTURAL ASSOCIATION OF NEW ZEALAND was launched
on 12th November in Auckland. The inaugural ribbon was cut by the Honourable Member of Parliament
Mr Kanwaljit singh Bakhshi. The President of the association Mr Nafis Akhtar emphsised the need of this association
for the promotion of the two beautiful languages of India and Pakistan in New Zealand so far
away from their homeland. He said that if nothing is done now then the coming generation will completely forget
these languages and no one but us will be responsible for this. Mr Nafis Akhtar said that the two languages are the
two beautiful eyes of a lovely bride if one eye has tears in it the other will also have tears in it so we have to look after both the
languages and for this reason we have decided to bring both languages on the same stage. The association's first
major project will be to organise an international Mushaira , Kavi sammelan and ghazal night sometime next year
in which the poets of Urdu and Hindi languages from overseas will be participating. The Honourable Member of parliament
Mr Kanwaljit singh Bakhshi was very happy with the formation of this type of association and assured his support for this
good cause. He said that the language plays very important part in the progress of any community, its history and its culture.
So for the progress of community you have to make sacrifice to support this association. He congratulated the members of the association
