Message from Dr. Qadeer Khan

I thank Almighty Allah for giving me an opportunity to make Pakistan a nuclear power against all odds. I also take pride for my humble contribution in the defense filed of Pakistan. But what I accomplished so far does not end here-the struggle continues. We need to redefine our goals and achieve them as a nation. We need to improve our literacy rate and focus on the quality of education with a clear goal. The education in our country needs a complete overhauling in order to make it purposeful and result-oriented. Our government and the non-government organizations are equally responsible for making concerted efforts in the field of education. The READ Foundation is one of the non-governmental organizations, which has become the largest educational network in Pakistan. Ever since I came to know of the READ’s endeavors, I studied all facets of Foundation’s goals and objectives. I am very impressed with READ’s accomplishments within a short span of eight years.

READ Foundation will soon establish adequate technical institution for all the students who are currently studying in READ’s schools. This would enable all the students to learn technical skills to become more productive, self-reliant and honorable. The READ has wholeheartedly launched a comprehensive plan to establish need-based technical educational institutions to facilitate all students and parents interested in learning practical skills and become earning hands. This approach would surely make a difference and contribute in addressing the rampant unemployment in the country. This can serve as an encouragement for all others to focus on the purposeful education with a clear vision and viable objectives. READ has established 383 schools in the far-flung rural areas of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. READ Foundation provides quality education to the deserving and under privileged students. The Foundation caters for the needs of over seven thousand orphans and refugees students, whereas the total number of students exceeds forty thousands. I am pleased to let all of you know that I am helping READ Foundation as its Patron-in-Chief. I encourage all of you to help READ in its educational endeavors. With your support and active participation, READ can spread the quality education throughout Pakistan. You can sponsor a child, a female residential student, a school building, an orphan or a refugee student.
