Pakistani students

Pakistani students are important part of Pakiwis life in New Zealand and our asset for the future. Pakistan Association of New Zealand has always given due importance to this part of community and tried to incorporate them in planning and activities. PANZ has also established a Student Council that is aimed to act as a communicative bridge between Pak students and PANZ as well as the wider community. This has helped us in identifying student problems and understanding their needs that basically revolves round the following.

1-     If we go by the current assessment, 20 to 30 Pakistani Students would be able to complete their degrees by the mid or end of the next year. Their settlement in New Zealand currently depends upon the availability of job offers from NZ market. Its our collective responsibility to stand by them and do our best in arranging or finding job offers for them. They are not “others” but “ours” and should be taken with the same spirit. Pakistan Association of New Zealand gets lot of such “job offer search” requests from the student’s community and we in return always persuade Pak businessmen for the provision of the same. The results bring nothing positive most of the time. This message is just to motivate and convince us all that we are the first hope of student community and it is time to take care of future of Pakiwis in New Zealand. PANZ requests business community to help us when they hear a “job offer” knock on their door by a Pakistani student.

2-     Student life is comparatively hard in New Zealand where they have to undergo a very tough schedule of study and work. All most all of Pakistani students drive taxis and are hardly able to manage their college/Uni fees after going through a sheer hard work. Any small incident or financial loss can disrupt their whole plan. Sometime they even fail to reach the fee target and struggle around to make it by various means .Pakistan Association has come across many such incidents where a student desperately needed some money to go to the next semester because of some incident or deficiency in fee amount. Though we have always tried to be of some help, the need of having an emergency fund for such like occasions is of primary importance now. If established, this fund can provide Qarze-Hasna to Pak students (this may include other needy people in the long term) on specific and well laid out terms and conditions. At present we do not have any such fund under PANZ. Therefore we are seeking suggestions for the possibility of such fund establishment and its working methodology. Until the establishment of such fund, we will welcome if few among well to do Pak businessmen volunteer for provision of the proposed Qarze-Hasna to any needy student who is in dire need. We will make sure the process should remain fool-proof and guaranteed.

Please forward your suggestions to us via any means of communication.
