Fwd: Machine Readable Passports (MRPs)

 HIGH COMMISSION FOR PAKISTAN

WELLINGTON

PRESS RELEASE

Machine Readable Passports (MRPs),

Mandatory for Visas of Some Countries.

Some Governments have made Machine Readable passports (MRPs), compulsory for issuance of visas of their countries. MRPs are a new version of electronic passports which replaces old manual (handwritten) passports.

2.                     The Mission at Wellington, at present, does not have the facility to issue MRPs. Pakistan passport holders, intending to go on visits to countries, which have made MRPs mandatory or for Umra/Hajj on their Pakistani manual passports, are advised to get their manual passports replaced by MRP passports, either from Pakistan itself or from the following Pakistan Mission having MRP facilities.

The MRP facility exists in Pakistan’s Mission in London, Frankfurt, Ottawa, Toronto, Rome, New York, Los Angeles, Oslo, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, New Delhi, Muscat, Paris, Doha, Kuwait and Bahrain.

3.                     It is expected that MRP facility may also become available at Sydney and Canberra (Australia) in the near future.

4.                     Further information can be accessed from the web-link http://www.dgip.gov.pk/Files/Offices.html.

I think none of these countries allow us to enter without new readable passport ....so how is it possible to get them exchanged from there....i think the option left is Palkistan, but it would be great if we get this facility in aussie.
