An Evening Devoted to Allama Mohammad Iqbal

Dear Friends!
Assalam-o-Alaikum,

I wish to thank
all those who attended the evening to celebrate Allama Mohammad Iqbal’s
philosophy and poetry at the High Commission, on 19 May, 2012. The speakers who
inspired us with their thought provoking well researched talks on the various
aspects of Iqbal’s life, philosophy and poetry deserve my special gratitude. All
those who recited/sung Iqbal’s poetry were duly appreciated and applauded by
the audience.

I am encouraged
by the excellent response received from the community members and have got the
necessary impetus to continue holding such literary events. The next event to
be organized by the High Commission will be a Mehfil-e-Mushaira and Sham-e-Ghazal. The date of this event will be
announced in due course.

The five-hour
long Iqbal event was not only well attended by the Wellington residents but
guests from Auckland, Palmerston North and other places.

This was a second
community based event organised by the High Commission during this year. The
earlier occasion was a Kashmir Day held on 10 March, 2012, which was also
attended by 150 guests.

I really appreciate
the community members support in making these events success.

Looking
forward to welcome you again soon!

Kind regards,
Syed Ibne Abbas
