Pakistan Cricket Team is arriving in Auckland on 12 December 2003 for a series of one day and test matches. According to the details provided to us by New Zealand Cricket Council and concerned Liaison Officer, the team will arrive at Auckland Airport via Flight Number CX117 at 7:35 am of Friday Morning. Pakistan Association of New Zealand will welcome Green Caps at the airport on the time mentioned above. It is requested to all community members to reach Auckland Airport well in time so that we might welcome our team with true spirit. “An Evening with Green Caps” is already under process and formal announcement will be made once PANZ gets a final acceptance from Green Caps management. Same way a joint and collective show of Pak spectators to cheer their team on eve of one day international being held in Auckland (3 January 2003) is also under way. Other individuals who are interested in planning such like encouragement for Pak Team may contact PANZ for joint strategy.

In a brief conversation on phone with star of 92 world cup who’s outstanding batting enabled us to pick up the world cup of 92 , told Sohni Dharti that he and his team is determined to do with New Zealand , what Pakistan have done to NZ in Pakistan , In answering the question from Sohni Dharti that is he gonna do the same as he had done in 92 , the captain of Pakistan cricket team INZAMMAM UL HAQ said “ this is 13 years old story, but I will do my best to show my best performance in NZ” In other question from Sohni Dharti, that we have association with above 900 members, and Pakistan association is planning to arrange a big dinner in honour of cricket team, would this team be available for dinner, Skipper INZAMMAM UL HAQ replied , “this not up to him this is management to decide , we should go or not”, Mr HAQ was having dinner on Mr Bhatti’s (former General secretary of Pakistan association) place, in other question from Sohni Dharti “since when you know Mr Bhatti” Mr Captain said “I know Mr Bhatti since 92 as most active and friendly Pakistani in New Zealand” In his message to Pakistani community Mr HAQ said, we want all Pakistanis to come out and buck us up on ground because this is only sport we get in PERDES

Pakistan Association of New Zealand   did its best to persuade management of visiting Pak Cricket Team to accept invitation to community reception so that Pak people might see and talk to their cricket heroes directly. However Manager Haroon Rashid and Coach Javeid Miandad repeatedly made it clear and plain that Pakistan Cricket Board has strictly advised them not to attend any such community function as it has lead to internal fights within community circles in the past tours of Australia and UK. On our argument that fortunately in New Zealand there is only one representative organization and no intra- community rivalries exist here, team management still expressed their inability to attend such programmess as Cricket Board directives are clear in this regard. However it was told players in form of small groups can be invited by individuals not by an organization. This is the short summary of our efforts   13 Decmber: Tanveer Syed President PANZ invited Team Manager Haroon Rashid to the community reception 13 December: Shahid Azad Vice President PANZ talked to Javed Miandad regarding the propose reception 13 December: (Evening time): Shahid Azad Vice President PANZ visited Javeid Miandad in his hotel room and invited him and his entourage for the community reception 14 December:  Khurram Zaidi General Secretary PANZ met Javeid Miandad in ground on 1st day of the three day game being played outside Eden Park stadium again for the same purpose 15 December: President and VP PANZ visited the stadium venue and talked to team management and were given the same arguments in reply 16 December: Shahid Azad VP PANZ talked to Haroon Rashid Manager of Pak Cricket Team on telephone and was told BCCP directives are clear, final and can’t be violated.     From above we assume that holding a large scale reception for Pak Cricket Team in Auckland seems a less possibility now though we will still continue our efforts. Though we understand the team management position in this regard,  we have made it clear  that the principal should be followed everywhere if they are so much committed to BCCP directions and that no individual should be given priority over people`s organization in case of invitation to the whole team. As gate for inviting individual players is still open, we advise interested ones to talk to the players directly if they wanna host dinner for them .   Be prepared for 3 January 2003 one day international at Auckland. Ask PANZ for the ticket if you wanna enjoy it together in one place.

After spending a long bore Sunday in Hamilton stadium, where Pakistani team seems to be struggling against NZ’s huge score thanks to rain which gave Pakistani supporters a sigh of relief ,because of uncertain of the weather cricket fans have to stay in ground until official says mach no more, it was 6pm when official announce mach no more! We end up in Dial A cab office, where Sohni Dharti, Mr Bhatti, Munawar Hussein and Master Ashraf ( son of Nadeem Ashraf), where we welcomed by Managing director of Dial A Cab Hamilton Abdul Hameed Mughal, while Mr Bhatti was arraigning dinner for teem in a Halal restaurant, Mr Mughal jumped in and insist that Pakistani team is in Hamilton so dinner should shouted by Dial A Cab , after little arguments Mr Bhatti and Mr Mughal agreed to share the dinner cost , Mr Bhatti rung Captain Inzamam ul Haq, who thanked Mr Bhatti and apologised to come out because he was having family dinner, During dinner conversation, team asked about the aim and object of Sohni Dharti, here Sohni Dharti put up the hot question of conduct of Inzamam ul Haq in Eden park ground, Haroon Rashid, Manger of the team told Sohni Dharti that “Inzi” can explain it better” Mr Bhatti said that he will ask Mr Haq for his response to this question At the end all team members thanked Mr Mughal and Mr Bhatti’s hospitality, here Mr Mughal offer whole team free transportation, from Dial A Cab, during their stay in Hamilton, which accepted by team Manger Haroon Rashid

Why we lost one day cricket in Eden Park If our star player Shoaib Akhter would be sitting in Globe Bar having few drinks with fans till late, 5am in morning of 03/ 01/ 04, seen by few Pakistanis and dropped by one Taxi driver to team’s hotel in Auckland, then this would happened what we have seen in ODI in Auckland, said Mr Bhatti, he added that we give all players utmost respect in name of Pakistan but players like Mr Akhter’s behaviour is not expectable, we all want to see him as lion in field not as a caged seal out of sea,

Pakistan Association of New Zealand has been requested by number of people regarding one day cricket match between Pakistan and New Zealand to be played in Napier on 14/01/04. However despite our continuous effort the number of such people is not specified that makes it hard for us to do booking at our own. It is requested to either to send us an email immediately or call us at   6260149 or 027 2737903     to register your interest for Napier match. This will give us a better idea what we together can do to make Pakistan significant in Napier and how and where we should sit as a whole. This time we are also planning to go their in our national dress and might create some fun with Dhole and Kiwi-Pak friendship themes. NZ Cricket Board has called us telephonically and encouraged us to do all this to make the venue more colorful and charming. They have expressed sorrow that our Dhole was not allowed to be beaten by security guards after the lunch break of One Day Match at Eden Park.   We have also contacted Charter Companies for hiring a coach on the specified date but it came out that if we travel by our own sources, this will be more economical and feasible. Three four people in a car or van will take away all the strain away from your pockets.  Therefore it is advised to all those who want to reach Napier for one day cricket, -to inform us of their intention -to ask us for how and where to do the booking -to enquire which place we have to gather before the match   Feel Free to contact   Shahid Azad 6260149 027 2737903
