>As scheduled Eid Picnic was held on 8 February 2003. It was wonderful
>day full of fun, laughter and enjoyment. Families started arriving at
>the venue from 2 pm and were welcomed for being part of the festive
>environment. After One Dish Lunch there was s series of 100 meters races
>designed separately for different age groups. Small children, boys,
>young guns, seniors and those who left behind ran separately for their
>supremacy in being "fastest men of the day". This 5 races event was
>cheered loudly by the crowd and the winners were patted on the shoulders
>by all and sundry. Afterwards a 12 overs cricket match was played
>between two elevens, one captained by Ch. Imtiaz and other by Imran
>Akram. Imtiaz Eleven won this interesting match comfortably amid lot of
>hue and cry with shining performances from Asif Saeed and Hafiz Junaid.
>Imran Eleven couldn't match the skill and strength of the opponent
>despite their patchy chances. At the same time children had separate
>cricket session while ladies remained busy in a separate sports and
>talking session. Then came BBQ -yummy---- people gathered around and did
>full justice with BBQ perpetrators by keeping them busy all the times.
>The last session was pick of the day---Tug Of War---- 5 teams fought
>separately to test their muscles in Rasa Kashi and every body enjoyed
>the event in true Pakistani spirit. Darkness was setting in one when
>prizes were distributed among the winners and organizers thanked the
>families for participating in the programme. Such a wonderful day and
>unlucky is the one who missed.
>
>Pakistan Association of New Zealand is appreciative of the participants
>and the volunteers who made "Eid on Beach" a big success and a day to
>remember. We will continue to provide places and plans for family
>entertainment in coming times too.
>
>Please visit our web site for seeing photos of the event in next few
