Pakistan Association of New Zealand held One Dish Eid Picnic on Monday 15 November 2004 on Long Bay Beach from 2 pm onwards. Despite bad weather a large number of Pakistani families turned up at the venue and celebrated Eid Festival with true spirit of happiness and love. Pakistan Association President Shahid Azad, General Secretary Haroon Ahmed and their colleagues welcomed Pakiwis on their arrival at Long Bay Beach. The participants had brought food of their own choice and enjoyed eating in company of their community fellows. Soon after One Dish lunch people spread around and got busy in playing cricket and strolling. The children were especially happy to be at one place and the filed echoed with their laughter despite strong wind that continued blowing all the after-noon. BBQ followed soon and people were served traditional Pakistani food. Eid picnic provided an excellent opprtunity to Pakiwis in getting together and share the Eid happiness in traditional and family environment. This may also be noted that current association had introduced the concept of “Eid on Beach’’ the previous year and this year event was an extension to its spirit of taking festivals to the open for better meeting places and enjoyment. Pakistan Association President Shahid Azad has thanked all Pakiwis who attended Eid Picnic on a short notice and put faith in the organization. The three members of Executive Committee Mateen Siddiqi, Sabir Cheema and Zeb Khan were also present there.
