CHAKWAL, Jan 8: Sufism and their teaching were the main cause of promotion
of Islam in the subcontinent and Pakistan should be made more prosperous and
strong if we act upon the teachings of great Sufis and Hazrat Shah Murad the
founder of Urdu and Punjabi Gazals was one of them and his religious work
and poetry would be preserved and a library and mini cultural complex would
be established at the Mausoleum of Hazrat Shah Murad at village Takia Shah
Murad District Chakwal. This was stated by Federal Minister fore environment
Tahir Iqbal while addressing at Shah Murad International Seminar and
Mushaira at Chakwal Press Club on Sunday. The Seminar MUshaira was presided
by renowned scholar Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi while Director General Khana Farhang
Iran Mehr Dad Rakhshanday was special guest. Those who also spoke on this
occasion were Kh. Babar Saleem, Ghulam Hussain Chisti, Haji Badar-ul-Islam
Hashmi, CR Shamsi, Mirza Ahmed Noor Tahir, Raja Javid Iqbal, Saffi-ul-Din
Saffi, Faqir Hussain Tajir, Khawaja Danial Saleem, Aslam Ayub, Munawar Aziz,
Raja Mujahid Afsar, Ghazanfar Mehndi and Mehr Dad Rakshandy. Federal
Minister was of the view that District Chakwal has a very strong
archeological and historical background and its history was million years
old. He told that Government was trying its best to preserve the great
historical and Hindus religious site Katas Raj and other archeological sites
which is of significant importance and District Chakwal had a potential to
attract not only tourist but historian and archeological in this area.
Doctor Ghazanfar Mehndi was of the view that real identity of District
Chakwal was Hazrat Shah Murad and the work of Hazrat Shah Murad is to be
acknowledges through out the countries where Urdu and Punjabi literature
exist, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehndi termed Hazrat Shah Murad as a great asset of
Urdu, Punjabi and Persian literature. Director General Mehr Dad Rakhshandy
while speaking on this occasion offered that Iran Government would publish
the Persian poetry of Hazrat Shah Murad as a book. On this occasion Doctor
Ikram-ul-Haq and her daughter Miss Huma Ikram and Maria Shafaq daughter of
Doctor Munir Langha were awarded Dhan Chorasi Awards for the acknowledgement
of their excellent performance in their departments. Federal Minister Major
Tahir Iqbal also donated rupees 10 thousands for Chakwal Press Club.

CHAKWAL, Jan 8: A truck driver was looted at Gun point at Dhudial Mungwal
road some 25 kilometer from here in between Saturday and Sunday night. Truck
driver Tariq Mehmood loading cement from Wah was coming to village Thaneel
Kamal at truck no. C-1351 and when he reached near village Mungwal, four
armed persons appeared on the scene and on gun point they snatched rupees 7
thousand and they were managed to make good there escape from the scene.

CHAKWAL, Jan 9: Federal Minister for Parliamentary affairs Doctor Sher
Afghan said on Monday that a chief of big political party from Sindh would
announce the support of construction of Kala Bagh Dam very soon and
reservations and fears of Sindh and NWFP provinces have been mostly removed
and the consensus on Kala Bagh Dam was very much on the card and more over
the issue of Kala Bagh Dam would also be discussed in the coming session of
National Assembly that is schedule to be held on 17th January. He was
talking to the delegation of Chakwal Press Club, while press secretary of
Federal Minister Mr. Tanveer Malik was also present on this occasion.
Federal Minister was of the view that Agriculture revolution would dawn at
Pakistan after the completion of Kala Bagh Dam, while cheaper electricity
would also gear up the industrial activities in the country. Replying to
another question Doctor Sher Afghan further told that Balouchestan issue as
well as price-hike of petroleum would also be discussed in the coming
National Assembly Session. The minister further told that only few hand
picked rejected politician and some regional parties were making hew and cry
against the construction of Kala Bagh Dam just to gain political ends.
Doctor Sher Afghan was confident that the consensus of Kala Bagh Dam was not
very far, because 140 million people have agreed that the construction of
reservoir was the need of the hour for the stabilization of the country.

CHAKWAL, Jan 9: There was no medical Doctor at Sub Jail Chakwal and even
the location of Sub Jail Chakwal was not suited as it was 6 kilometer away
from the city and no Public Transport was available and it was situated at
deserted place where there was always a risk of security. These observations
was made by MPA and president of Pakistan Muslim League Women Wing District
Chakwal Mrs. Maha Tareen Raja who visited Sub Jail Chakwal on Monday
afternoon and she was accompanied by member District Council Chakwal Mrs.
Rehana Babar Saleem. Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Pervaiz Ellahi have
ordered all the District Heads of Pakistan Muslim League to visit Jails in
their areas. Mrs. Raja distributed gifts among the young accused children at
Sub Jail Chakwal. Superintendent Sub Jail Chakwal Ch. Asghar Ali briefed
Mrs. Raja about the functioning of Sub Jail Chakwal. He told that Sub Jail
Chakwal had a capacity of 142 prisoners and now today 209 prisioners were
kept at Sub Jail Chakwal. Mrs. Maha Tareen Raja surprised that the accused
Children were kept at Sub Jail Chakwal and these accused children must be
handed over to probatation officer Chakwal to monitor there activities. Mrs.
Raja was confident that the Jail reforms announced by Chief Minister Punjab
Chaudhar Pervaiz Ellahi has a very health effect for the welfare of
prisoners and the meals provided in Jails have considerably improved, while
air cooler, water cooler and other facilities were also provided. Mrs. Raja
while writing her comments at visitors book was of the view that District
Jail Chakwal should be established at Chakwal near the city as present Sub
Jail Chakwal was very small enough to accommodate all the prisoners of
District Chakwal that were kept at District Jail Jhelum which caused great
problems to the people.

CHAKWAL, Jan 24: More then 600 educators on contract basis would be
recruited in District Chakwal on the vacant seats in the Education
Department, while 62 Police Constable would also be employed in police
department and these recruitments would be made in February. There are 368
Elementary Educators, 49 Senior Elementary Educators, 95 Senior Elementary
Educators Arts, 55 Secondary School Educators Science, 22 Secondary School
Educators and 14 Secondary School Arts Educators that would be recruited. 62
Police Constable would also be recruited in police department. Both the
departments have announced the schedule of recruitment. It is learnt that
the members of assemblies belongs to treasury was given the Quota in these
recruitments, therefore the candidates seeking jobs on these seats have
started contacting MNA’s and MPA’s of their area.

CHAKWAL, Jan 24: Additional District & Session Judge Chakwal Sohail Nasir
ordered to finish the third investigation of cable operator Mirza Dilshad
Khan Murder case. The Judge passed this judgment on the petition of Syed
Intasar Mehdi S/o. Ahmed Ali and contended that the two investigation have
already conducted by investigation officer first and ASP Sadar Circle and
both have submitted that their findings, therefore according to police order
2002 District Police Officer was not competent to order the third inquiry.
The Judge after hearing the arguments from both sides, accepted the petition
of Syed Intasar Mehdi and termed the third investigation unnecessary.

CHAKWAL, Jan 29: Federal Minister for Environment Major (R) Tahir Iqbal
said on Sunday that the construction of Cadet College at Katas District
Chakwal would bring an educational revolution in the area and the Cadet
College was a genuine demand of the people as the people of the area
sacrificed their lives to defend the mother land and General Pervaiz
Musharaf and Prime Minister not only approved this project but the initial
funds of rupees 20 million were also released and work would start in next
month. He was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony at village
Mulhal Mughlan that was arranged by Majeed Malik Foundation. The function
was presided over by founder Chairman Lt. General (R) Abdul Majeed Malik,
while the welcome address was presented by Executive Director Umar Saleem
Asghar. Federal Minister was of the view that people of Chakwal have reposed
there confidence for the continues six times in general elections on his
family and the gift of Cadet College to the people of District Chakwal was a
debt on his shoulder and with the grace of God, success came at last.
Speaking on this occasion General Majeed Malik said that he had decided many
times to quit the politics as he was at the last stage of his age but still
the love and commitment of the people had forced him to withdraw his
decision. He was of the view that he won five general elections from Chakwal
from 1985 to 1999 and then again his Nephew Major Tahir Iqbal was also given
a warm response from the people in 2002 general election. General Malik
vowed to make a close contact with the people and declared that he would
stand with people up till his last breath. Later on Federal Minister Tahir
Iqbal distributed the prizes among the successful students of Composite
Community & Computer Training Center Mulhal Mughlan.

CHAKWAL, Jan 29: District Chakwal was the heaven of old civilization and
it had an old history of more then 30 million years and he would highlight
the poverty and remoteness of this area in his serials and other
documentaries. This was stated by the Chief Executive of International
Company Prima Gold Mr. Khurram Abbas Toni while addressing Meet the Press
Programme at Chakwal Press Club on Sunday. The renowned actor Kashif
Mehmood, Director Iftikhar Iffi, Bilal Sharif, Sulman Raja, Miss. Radica
Veets and Miss. Denas Vas were also present on this occasion. Khurram Abbasi
told that he had made agreements with Pakistan Television for two serials
and the dialogue with Geo, ARY and other channels were underway. He was of
the view that Pakistan film industry was totally collapsed and he wanted to
revive the film industry with the collaboration of Indian Bollywood and was
going to establish his office at Bombay. Khurram Abbasi further told that
there was abundance of talent in Pakistan but the artists due to lack of
patronage, they were at the back foot. Mr. Khurram Abbas vowed to eradicate
poverty from District Chakwal and international industrialist would be
brought to Chakwal for uplift of this area.

CHAKWAL, Feb 2: Two companies of Pakistan Army reached Chakwal from
Kharain Cantt on Thursday to assist the local administration to maintain
peace, law and order during Moharam. Lt. Col. Saleem Dar was the head of the
Army Squad. A meeting of District Peace Committee was also held in committee
room and it was presided over by provincial minister Public Health
Engineering Mr. Muhstaq Hussain Kiyani. The Ulmae-Karam for all sects
assured that peace brotherhood, love and sectarian harmony would be
developed during the month of Moharam and assued their full cooperation to
the local administration. District Nazim Chakwal, DCO Chakwal, new DPO Ahmed
Ishaq Jahangir, MPA Ijaz Farhat, Syed Taqleed Raza Shah and Tehsil Nazmeen
were present on this occasion. The Minister while speaking on this occasion
was of the view that Punjab Government have made elaborate arrangement and
security measures to make Moharam Peaceful. He directed the local
administration to have a vigilant eye on the miscreants as anti Islamic
forces wanted to destabilize the country. The minister further told that
Islam is the religion that promote peace and brother hood among the people.
He was confident that the month of Moharam would be peaceful in District
Chakwal as the people are very cooperative and they knew that peace is
necessary for healthily atmosphere and development of the area.

CHAKWAL, Feb 2: Eight minor children in the age of 5 month to 1 year were
killed at Tent Village Chakwal from the last three months due to severe
coldness as the Tents that was installed here were not weather proof and the
children died due to Phenomena. This was stated by the administrative
committee of Chakwal Tent Village Raja Abdul Raouf, Javed Iqbal, Rashid
Iqbal, Farooq Ahmed and Muhammad Shah while talking to the newsman on
Thursday. They told that affectees were told that they would be shifted back
to Azad Kashmir on 1st March and it caused panic among the community and
there are more then 2500 affectees were residing at Tent Village Chakwal.
They were of the view that they have not paid even a single penny regarding
the construction of houses and Government was providing rupees 1 lack 75
thousand for every destructed house. They further told that they were not
briefed where they would be taken and according to over reports no house and
other shelters were made in their affected areas. They told that rupees 8
hundred per month, per person is to be provided at Tent Village and we have
to arrange over meals and other necessities in this amount and it was very
meager to meet their both ends meat. They threatened that they would not
move from here until and unless they provided shelter in their home land and
funds for the construction of houses. They appealed to president and prime
minister of Pakistan that if they were provided a peace of land in District
Chakwal and some financial assistance they would construct houses on their
own and start a new life in this area.

CHAKWAL, May 29: Free, fair and transparent General election in 2007 should
be ensured and the government should take all political parties of the
country into confidence and remove their fear and reservation of the coming
election. This resolution was adopted in the program ‘Jamhuri Maidan’ that
was arranged by PATTAN Development Organization at Chakwal Press Club and it
was presided over by renowned social worker Raja Mujahid Afsar. The
representatives from all main political parties attended the function and
political parties also arranged various stalls on this occasion where the
parties manifesto, party flags and other party literature was displayed.
Those who spoke on this occasion were Kh. Babar Saleem, Mohammad Khan Aqal,
Ch. Munir Ahmad, Hassan Raza Pasha Advocate, Qazi Ghulam Abbas, Illama
Manzoor Qureshi, Haji Badar-ul-Islam Hashmi, Abdul Qayoom, Maqbool Hussain
Hashmi, Qazi Abdul Aziz Zia, Sahabzada Abdul Qudoos Naqshbande, Hafiz Abdul
Raoof and national coordinator PATTAN Ghulam Sarwar Bari. The speakers were
of the view that unfortunately Pakistan was not able to introduce a stable
political system from the last 59 years therefore the democracy was not
prospered in the country. Ghulam Sarwar Baria and Raja Mujahid Afsar urged
the political parties to introduce democracy within their party so that
workers should be benefited. They further told that most of our main
political parties used the shoulder of Pakistan Army to come into power and
this is the main reason that a political process was not strengthened in
Pakistan. A jury was constituted who declared the stall of Pakistan Peoples
Party for 1st position, Jamiat Ulmae Pakistan stall secured 2nd position,
Labor Qaumi Movement stood 3rd, the stall of Jamiat Islami was 4th while
PMLQ bagged 5th position. The shields were awarded to the office bearer of
the political parties. The chief coordinator of PATTAN District Chakwal
Ghulam Shabbir thanked all the political parties for attending the function
and the motive behind this function was to bring cooperation and tolerance
among the parties so that common man should join the political parties and
the democratic system in the country should be improved.

CHAKWAL, May 29: Chakwal police in seven different operations recovered
narcotics and also arrested a judicial deserter. Saddar Police Chakwal
arrested Mohammad Ramzan resident of village Khokhar Zair and 30g charas was
recovered from him, a bottle of liquor was also recovered by sadder police
from accused Mohammad Jahangir, resident of village Udherwal, two bottles of
liquor were also recovered from the accused Khan Bahadur resident of village
Jabair Pur. City Police Chakwal arrested Allah Ditta resident of Mohallah
Jafarabad and 40g Charas was recovered from him while Choa Sadan Shah Police
arrested Zia ul Hassan resident of village Wahula and 12 bore gun was
recovered from him. Dumman Police recovered 30 bore pistol from Mohammad
Aslam resident of ShiekhuPura while city police Chakwal arrested a judicial
deserter Ghulam Akber resident of Nishat colony Chakwal.
