ISLAMABAD: As the Supreme Court restored the Shahbaz Sharif government, the PML-Q forward bloc is ready to take over the party command in the Punjab Assembly by submitting a signed list of most of its MPAs, it is learnt. The move will bring the politics of the Chaudhry brothers of Gujrat to a dead end.

“We have decided to move a list of 45-50 MPAs to replace the present ones with our members as we plan to take formal action in a day or two after the restoration of Mian Sahibs’ government,” disclosed PML-Q forward bloc leader in the Punjab Assembly Atta Muhammad Maneka.

Present opposition leader Chaudhry Zahiruddin claims that the forward bloc members, hectically running for ministerial slots and other lucrative positions, cannot change him even if they prove majority MPAs’ support.

Talking to The News, Maneka and Zahiruddin came up with totally conflicting stands over the Punjab Assembly scenario and their respective positions though both hailed the Supreme Court decision of reinstating the Shahbaz government.

In the Punjab Assembly, the PML-Q had obtained 85 seats and is presently left with less than 40 in total and the situation may worsen in the days and months to come with continuous inclination of its members towards the PML-N.

According to parliamentary statistics, the PPP’s strength in the Punjab Assembly is 107, the PML-N has 169 seats, the Q-League 85, the MMA two seats, the PML-Functional three and four MPAs are maintaining independent position.

The PML-N, meanwhile, claims that it may prove majority more than what had been in the days of governor’s rule since the Q-League is losing its grip over the party members, ultimately increasing numbers of its pro-Nawaz forward bloc.

Atta Maneka, in his talk with The News, said he has physically proved two-three members more than the Q-League’s parliamentary party numbers. “We cannot change the name of the party but can file a claim over parliamentary leaderĂs position as well as over the opposition leader’s office.”
