Mother land is crying out for help, shout out loud "I am here oh mother I am here, I will try my best to comfort you"

Mr Shah came up with idea of Radiothon , yes , a 27 hour of non stop fund rising campaign for victims of Pakistan flood disaster. A long meeting held in GM office with notables of Pakistan community and Radio APPNA.

Credibility of Pak Govt, came under question too, at the end decision were made that all fund will be handed over to Pakistan High Commission in NZ

Dear All,

Pakistan has been hit by the worst floods ever in its history. More than 1500 dead, 1.7 million acres of land harvesting wheat, sugarcane and rice crops has been inundated, 200,000 animals dead and almost 20 Million people affected, 1/5th of Pakistani land is under water. Many lives are further threatened as reports are coming in of diseases breaking out in the flood hit areas.

Zubair bhai, can you please contact me on my cell regarding volunteering. I have already donated and helped Charlotte Rebbeck of Christchurch send a 20 foot container with food worth NZ $ 350,000.00 to Pakistan to be distributed by the Flood Relief operation set up by Imran Khan but I would like to do more and support this wonderful community effort.
I just contacted Radio Apna but the details are not very clear.

The child you see in posters on TV or in news with face full of flies- is not dead. Not yet.
Donations camp started 9am. From Apna team Angie is here, representing Pakistan and Pakistan community BillaG and his wife Rose is here. Since we are seeing the calamity in Pakistan on TV. Noting is good these days. Glad to see the magic of Radio Apna. People from all walk of life, all kind of religions, donating calmly and praising the good work of Radio Apna, it is about 1:30pm we have collected $3375. Well ahead of target, some donor just told us that over all radio Apna standing on $75000, a text from has confirmed it.
A Samoan lady has just dropped few coin by saying "I know the pain, cause I have last four members of my family in Tsunami"
Whether it is Tsunami in Thailand, Samoa or flood in USA, earthquake in Pakistan and again flood in Pakistan. Catastrophe like this force us act as one, get above the religion, creed ,personal greed and polices. Act like human and celebrate the humanity. Quran says " save one human, means humanity" I am sure this is the verse of every Holy Book. Even for those who don’t believe in Books.
Mr. Khan has just left the scene, he praised the good work of Apna and volunteers.
Pace is little slow now, but we are doing all right we are standing on more then $7000, it is 6:00pm, shop will close 8pm. At 8pm we have $9000, all credit goes to Radio Apna team, a special thanks to Angies for he good and relentless work from 9am to 8pm.

By talking with few notables of community, Sohni Dharti has experienced that there is rift that who will receive this money, shall this money go to High commission or some NGOs in Pakistan.? In first meeting we decided that money will go high commission. Now we are Hearing that Mr. Khan is saying We should have another meeting about these funds raised by Radio Apna and PANZ. Because all members of PANZ were not present in first meeting.

High Commission out.  Imran Khan IN, Media One IN

Meeting held at Radio Apna office, after long deliberations, come the conclusion that money will go to two organizations, Imran Khan’s and to army through Midia one
Mr. Khan and his team PANZ strongly opposed the idea of sending money to Pakistan Govt. he criticized Pakistan govt not doing enough.
Mr. GM said money should not go to any political party he said we trust our army and we want to sand this money to army. Media one is on the ground with help of Pak army reaching out those unreachable places.
Molan Javed Malik said, doesn’t matter who is president and how corrupt he is; he is our president we have choose him and we need to respect the decision of majority.
BillaG said we have collected this money in name of Pakistan high commission and we issued the receipt of it, so it should go to Pakistan High Commission. And we should stick with the decision we made in first meeting.
Sahil Shah said we have collected this money for the victims of flood in Pakistan; it is our responsibility to make sure that this is going to people who deserve it. He said he doesn’t know about Pakistan and situation on ground that’s why he has called this meeting to know the views of Pakistanis notables.

HIGH COMMISSION FOR PAKISTAN
WELLINGTON

PRESS RELEASE

Subject:- Aftermath of Devastating Floods ― Reconstruction commences.

After causing havoc in length and breadth of Pakistan for almost six weeks, at long last, the floods water recede gradually leaving behind a trail of destruction and misery.

These unprecedented floods have killed over 1,700 and affected 20 million people. One fifth of the Pakistan territory, larger than the size of Italy and Britain is deluged. UN Secretary General termed these floods as “slow motion Tsunami”.

Flood waters have destroyed over 1.2 million houses. Over four million acres of crop area has been damaged, sweeping away standing crops and livestock, worth million of dollars in country where economy relies on agriculture.

Infrastructure in affected areas has received a major blow. Roads, bridges, power transmission lines, telecommunication network, schools, health clinics and industrial infrastructure have been badly damaged.

The cataclysm still unfolds. The second wave of challenge in shape of disease, hunger and rebuilding livelihoods looms large on the horizon. 3.5 million infants are in dire need of assistance to avoid fatalities. Food security of millions is at risk. One million tones of wheat stored in warehouses have been swept away.

Government of Pakistan has committed all its national resources to provide relief to affected people. Some 60,000 defence personnel besides civilian authorities are working relentlessly using 75 helicopters and over 1200 boats to provide essential food supplies and medicines to marooned people.

Government, together with UN agencies, World Bank and others is currently carrying out Disaster Needs Assessment. Once this process is completed by end of this month, the government will embark on a gigantic reconstruction and building task.

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), besides other government institutions, in spite of resource constraint, have successfully delivered in a large area with huge population in dire need of assistance. Had there not been government machinery there to help, loss in life and property could have been manifold. As the relief phase tapers off, the real job of rebuilding and reconstruction begins.

Reconstruction phase is going to be a long haul. All the government institutions and departments will have to be fully involved in the process which could take billions of dollars and many years to complete the task. . Government is already overwhelmed by the scale and enormity of disaster and resource constraint. While the commendable role and services of aid agencies and NGOs rendered can not be denigrated, but it is ultimately, the state responsibility to rebuild and reconstruct roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, telecommunications, etc.

This is an unprecedented challenge and needs an unprecedented response, so please help government by donating generously to accomplish this astronomical task.

President Mwai Kibaki Friday presented a 100 tonnes donation to the Pakistan High Commissioner to Kenya, H.E. Masroor Junejo, in support of Pakistan citizens affected by heavy flooding caused by monsoon weather rains.

During the presentation, at Harambee House Offices, President Kibaki affirmed that the Government and people of Kenya are touched by the plight of the victims of the adverse weather conditions and that they stand firmly in solidarity with the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

"The government and people of Kenya are making this donation in solidarity with the people of your country who have greatly suffered due to the heavy floods in parts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan," said the President.

The Head of State noted that Kenya was closely following the distressed situation caused by the monsoon weather rains and conveyed on behalf of the Government and People of Kenya deep sympathies to the people and Government of Pakistan following the extensive damage and loss of lives caused by the unprecedented rains.

The rains have affected close to one fifth of Pakistan's population and claimed about 1600 people while over 14 million people have been displaced.

President Kibaki noted that the donation was extended by Kenyan crop and livestock farmers in show of solidarity and friendship to the people of Pakistan.

He said, "Let me take this opportunity to assure you that the Government and people of Kenya stand with you and your people during this difficult period as you begin the hard task of reconstructing your country."

The 100 tonnes of donation comprises of rice, tea, powder milk and canned beef for onward delivery to the victims of the floods.

The donation, President Kibaki noted, was a gesture to convey Kenya's gratitude to the people of Pakistan who consume a significant amount of Kenya's agricultural products especially tea.

The President thanked Kenyan companies that spearheaded the donations among them Kenya Tea Board, Kenya Tea Development Agency, Kenya Tea Growers Association, Williamson Tea, Unilever Tea, Kenya Meat Commission and Kenya Dairy Board for their precious contributions.

The Head of State prayed that God Almighty give the people and the Government of Pakistan the strength and courage to overcome the heavy losses.

During the occasion the Head of State also wished all members of the Muslim community a season of peace and prosperity and happy Eid-Mubarak.

In accepting the Kenyan donation, the High Commissioner expressed gratitude to the government and the people of Kenya for the timely donation, which would go a long way in easing the suffering of the monsoon floods victims in Pakistan.

Mr Junejo said the overwhelming response by the Kenyan people speaks volumes on the cordial relations enjoyed by the two countries.

The High Commissioner observed that the scale of challenges posed by the floods was too enormous for Pakistan to handle alone.

He said the top priority of the Pakistan government was to address the humanitarian challenge posed by the floods, which affected over 20 million people and destroyed 4 million acres of crops.

The number of people affected by the floods is worse than the tsunami, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake and the Haiti earthquake, The High Commissioner said.

The donation presentation was witnessed by the Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Cabinet Ministers Moses Wetangula, Prof. George Saitoti, Esther Murugi, Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet Amb. Francis Muthaura among senior government officials from both Kenya and Pakistan.

“Mutineer”
If PANZ still don’t understand and let this money go to some other accounts other then High commission account, which is collected in name of High Commission. I must say they are blind folded from the facts. Money , which is $340000; is still in Apna account and PANZ president is trying score as marks as possible in books of his favorite political party. Indians are gathering donations for victims of Pakistan flood, siri Lankan are doing the same, all of them sending their collection to Pakistan high commission. Here, we Pakistani , Pakistan association of New Zealand sending this money to someone’s ales account, which is collected in name of Pakistan high commission. How much more corrupt do we have to be to call our self “mutineer” against Pakistan.
We must not forget at the moment this is a request, it would be best for PANZ to read in-between the line. Before it’s become court orders.

Two of the world's four largest natural disasters of the last half century have happened in Pakistan: the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and now the floods. With many millions uprooted from their homes, without livelihoods and at risk of illness, the challenges for the international community and Pakistan are of great magnitude

Ali khan said...

Well I think people who are favouring that da money should go to high commision are just dumb. When you know the if the money is sent through high commission it will go to pak corrupt govt and dea is not even 10% chance the money will go to the right people if the money goes to pk govt. If the money goes to Imran khan he is much more trustworthy den the corrupt pk govt and he is a national hero and he has done so much for pak in the past. Eg worlcup 92 and Shaukat khanum memorial hospital.etc wats da point of giving it to high commision when we know the money will be used by our corrupt politicians for alcholhol n etc.I thnk not sending da money to pk govt is a great idea and move by PANZ. i SALUTE DIS DECISION.

Ali khan said...

talking abt corruption..isnt it corruption when we knw the high commision and pk govt is not trustworhty but you still want to give them the money. Please fear Allah if the money does not go to needy people.

Ali khan said...

PSA sent the money to some students from nz who were just gone to pk by chance. Students over here gave the contacts of trust worthy people in pakistan in effected areas . Those students contactted the trustworhty people and than distributed the money to real victims. This is a best example of making sure the money goes to flood victims and its so transparent. PSA is most likely to give that report to all masjids because the money was collected from masjids.

High commision did not give any report or proofs like these guyz did.

Blood Balti Message goes to more than 250 people, different kind of people give deferent kind of feedback. Yesterday I received a message from someone saying. “I have no job, no money and I need money how much money I will get if I come to Blood Balti. He is not a Phd student but he was wise enough to ask how much he will get rather then, asking me how much I am getting from blood bank.

On other hand other dumb Phd student asking how much I am getting by sporting Govt of Pakistan. Tomorrow, when Imran khan will be power, you will be the one calling him corrupt; I will be still sporting Govt of Pakistan. No matter who is sitting on top 10% or cent percent?
I must say in hard cash it is far less than you took from Earthquake funds. I get Satisfaction more than you think.

Ali khan said...

First I am not a University Student or an International student.I dont even know those guys. When we know the govt is corrupt but still people insisting to send the money to govt is just unbelivable and i cnt understand why. If you compare Imran Khan history and background with zardari dea is big difference. Imran khan is a legend and zardari is piece of shit. and everyone knws it but we knw if the money goes to Imran khan it will be mostly likely utilised properly and if the money goes to govt it will just be mis used for alcolhol and foreign trip. After knwing all this you still want to send the money to govt den go ahead. Allah will ask you not me.Being a muslim you have a responsibility to try our best to make it transparent and send it to trustworhty people. No one till date called imran khan called corrupt. even da kiwis hea know imran khan and respect and and we all know hw much they respect pakistan and our govt? they dnt shit to pk govt bt they love imran khan? why

Money is not gone to Pakistan yet, if someone is saying it has transferred to Pakistan, then we are not aware of it. If it is gone to Pakistan then PANZ should provide the receipt to public. Talking with Sohni Dharti former Executive of Pakistan community Ch. Nadeem Ashraf said, we collected $14000 from public we have provided the deposit receipt and that is the right thing to do, PANZ should do the same. After confirming with GM . Mr Nadeem said that we are not aware any transfer of money. He said chairman of Pakistan business community GM is planning to call a meeting about this money. We will provide receipt, where it gone, at the moment we are watching which NGO is good for this money.

An Email from PANZ

BILLAG if you claim to be a publisher of community news site do not play dirty politics and be clean and do not lie.

you have published the copy of the receipt which was never approved, printed or authorised by PANZ or APNA990. You should highlight the dishonesty of those who were involved in this scam.PANZ never received a cent on this receipt into PAKISTAN FLOOD RELIEF account of PANZ and you know it.

You have never questioned the 1.5crore rupess sent to Pakistan govt for earthquake which never reached the effected people who are still homeless. you have also not highlighted that the Prime Minister,President or Ministers who are billionairs have not donated a single rupee to the flood relief or paid any tax to the govt. Even the world financial institutions have refused to pay any donation to present govt.

If the present govt would have created a transparent commission comprising of honest people as agreed by Ptime Minister We would have definitely donated to the govt but it was aborted by the highest authority.

Are you not ashamed of yourself by creating such controversies in the community and dividing the community?
. Do not turn sohni dharti into dirty dharti
EXPOSE THOSE PEOPLE WHO PLAYED THIS DIRTY GAME if you have guts.

Credibility of Pak Govt, came under question too, at the end decision were made that all fund will be handed over to Pakistan High Commission in NZ

Thanks Mr. Khan.
Above mention, we did in first meeting which is good enough to close the entire IF and Buts. I always regard you as man of principle but I also believe that glitter of that amount can make any one mouth watery. Receipt of sent money is still not published. Do you think it is a good idea to keep the receipt of public money?
Would it be lie that you promised Mr. Bhatti, after taking donation from him that these funds will go High Commission’s flood relief fund?
About earth quack money Please see the earth quack tag.
It is not a controversy, but it is an issue of our community, bigger then dancing on Pakistani flag, I am not ashamed it to bring it up to public, who has right to know what you and your team are doing.
This receipt will not make any division, but calling South, Baluchistan will certainly take its toll.
