Dear Mr Tariq,
We just heard about the Sad demise of Mrs Alme Jacob the oldest Pakistani in New Zealand. She was probably the first Pakistani to land in New Zealand
as I am told in 1946.
Pakistan Association on behalf of All Pakistanies living in New Zealand express their sorrow and grief. She honoured us with her presence
in the Independence day function many years ago. We join you Tariq in the time of grief and pray for the blessings of Allah on her soul.

Thank you for your message - ameen.
My maternal grandmother, Mrs Alme Jacub (Yaqub), may well have been both the oldest and first Pakistani in New Zealand.
She was born in 1925 and according to the emergency certificate issued by the Government of West Punjab, my grandmother departed Karachi on 22 January 1949 and arrived in NZ on 25 January 1949.
The 2004 (?) Pakistan Independence Day function in which she was honoured by PANZ is a fond memory. My grandmother shared a small part of her life's journey with the audience and cut a ceremonial cake. Many people experienced her love, humour, dignity and courage directly and many more were inspired by her story that night.
I pray that Allaah grants us all the ability to emulate her character and serve all our fellow people.
Tariq
