Arts and Literature”

Pakistan Association of New Zealand is holding “An Evening of Arts and Literature” on 4 July 2004 at 3pm. The programme includes Mushaira, and Dress Show for Children along with music, dance and skits. Like last year Mushaira, a part of this programme will be funded by Creative Communities (Auckland City Council). Pakistan Association of New Zealand is quite proud of the fact that until now three of our projects has been funded by Auckland City Council, something that has always been neglected in the past. We thank God that due to hectic efforts of Pakistan Association of New Zealand today all of us proudly stand in line of known ethnic communities are no more nameless people any more. We are thankful to City Council for putting trust in out activities and programmes.

 

Mushaira section of the programme will feature local poets and rendering of their poetry. Poets who are interested in reciting their poetry on the programme day please contact PANZ by any means of communication including email and telephone well in time. Children Dress Show will involve different provincial and national dresses of Pakistan. Families that are interested to see their childrens on the stage in colorful Pakistani dresses should contact us immediately. Ladies can contact members of woman council for further details and mutual discussion.

 

Programme attendants will be able to enjoy the Food Stalls on payment. Drinks will be served by Pakistan Association of New Zealand. 

 

A meeting of Pakistan association of New Zealand was held on 7 January to work out details of the programme and final decisions were taken in this regard.

It was a good mix of Mushaira, dance and dress show , thanks to PANZ who organised this wonderful evening for Pakistani people, according to Sohni Dharti assessment it was less Mushaira and more dance ,dress and sing show, anyway Sohni Dharti congratulate Shaid Azad and his team for organising such a gathering where Pakistani people meet and greet, As usual function starts late, with the name Allah, and massege from PANZ president Shahid AZAD in which he said that organisations are with peoples sport , as 14 of AUG is fast approaching we need sport of you guys to make this factions memorable, he mentioned that TARNICA car is donating one Nissan blue bride which will go to one lucky person on $20 ticket , and income will go to PANZ account after that few SHAIRs come with their poetry then few kids with Pakistani dresses and then dance preforms, there where about three rounds of each, Majid Shah ex president of PANZ was there too , who him self is poet, when I asked him is he reading his KALAM , he said no , because environments are not of the Mushaira Apart from Nisar Mirza and Jone Khan singing of Pakistani singers were poor , dress show was good and full marks go to all dancers which was most entertaining part of the function At the end of function presents given away to all participants by Sabir CHEEMA, executive Pakistan community

An Evening of Arts & Literature” was held on 4 July 2004 under the banner of Pakistan Association of New Zealand and was attended by great number of Pak people. Zahid Shabbir acted as host of the programme and it started with recitation of Holy Quran by Hafiz Jinaid. Shahid Azad PANZ President briefly thanked the audience for coming to programme and informed them of the 14 August event preparation. He announced that a car named Nissan Blue Bird 1996 would be placed for draw on the big day and the money would go for basic funding of Jinnah Center. This car is jointly donated by Shakil Ahmed, Khyber Autoes and Zahid Khan and the audience thanked them by applauding loudly. The programme was carefully designed and mixed with  poetry recital, folk dance performances, songs singing and dress show to keep the audience in mood of enjoyment.Javeid Chaudhry President PAKIWI Friendship Society Hamilton lit the candle to initiate Mushaira proceeding that started with Abdul Qudoos and Imran Janjua in first phase and was followed by other poets including Col. Gul, Imran Javeid, Amir Farhan, Shahid Azad, Furqan, Ajaz, Nasir Rana, Waqar Ali  .This was followed by thrilling dance performance by Abrar Ahmad who danced to the tune “Chun Sajnan Way Naray Naray Ho”. The other dance performances included Aizaz Ahmed on Jawad Ahmad`s song, Sohail Ali Mumtaz and Sunny Ahmad on Ibrar-ul-Haq tunes and a joint but all impressive dance to Rahim Shah`s Payel song by Abrar and Aizaz. A group of small girls got a big applause on their dancing to a Mehndi song in the later stage of the programme. The singing phase included Imran Ashraf , Imran Janjua, Hamid Zaidi, Nisar Mirza, and Akhtar Jaan who were supported by Basant and Professor Madev on Tabla and Harmonium. The children dress show included National Dress, NWFP Province, Punjabi, Sindhi, Rajhistani, Blochi, and some other characters. Those who participated in dress show included Hala Irfan, Ujala Irfan, Abdullah Khan, Ahsan, Afreen, Shah Rukh, Iqra, Simeet, Ibrar, Waqas, and Mah Rukh.   Pakistan Association of New Zealand thank you those who came to see the programme and remained there until end of the programme.We are also grateful to Women Council members who did lot of effort in preparation of children for dress show performance.We also thank Sunny Ahmad who trained managed all the dance performances and did valuable service in providing entertainment.     Haroon Ahmad General Secretary Pakistan Association of New Zealand
