CHAKWAL, 3 NOV: Chakwal Police in a special campaign
against illicit arms and narcotics, recovered huge
quantity of arms and drugs and nabbed various
criminals.  Saddar Police Chakwal recovered 30 bore
pistol and three bullets from the accused Muhammad
Yousaf involved in a dacoity case, 32 bore pistol and
4 bullets from Javeed Iqbal resident of Mohallah Sar
pak Chakwal, 32 bore pistol and 2 bullets from
Muhammad Akhter from Mohallah Line park Chakwal also
involved in a dacioty case. Sadar police also
recovered 55 Grams charas from Muhammad Shafi resident
of village Thanil Fathoi, 60 gram charas from Muhammad
Javeed Iqbal resident of Thanil Fathoi, Kallar Kahar
Police recovered 32 bore pistol from Kousar Mehmood
resident of Kallar Kahar, a 32 bore pistol and 5
bullets from Shahzad Qaiser resident of village
Tattral, 30 bore pistol and 4 bullets from accused
Azam Hussain resident of Village Tatral, 30 bore
pistol from Khan Baig resident of Village Sethi, a 30
bore pistol and 3 bullets from accused Bilal resident
of village Tatral. Dhudial Police recovered 30 bore
pistol and 3 bullets from Amjid Shakeel resident of
Village Dhudial, and 30 bore pistol and 5 bullets from
Safdar Hussain resident of village Dhoke Jhakar.  Choa
Saiden Shah Police recovered 30 bore piston from Abdul
Hadi son of Said Khan resident of village Shangla,a
carbin 12 bore was recovered from Adnan Shoukat
resident of village Haran Pur, 30 bore pistol from
Muhammad Saqlin resident of Haran Pur, a 30 bore
pistol from Dost Muhammad resident of village Gam.
Neela police recovered a 32-bore pistol and 2 bullets
from Muhammad Taj resident of Village Kurar. Sprit
cased was registered accused and all of them were sent
to the Judicial Lock up.

CHAKWAL, 3 NOV: 4 armed persons stormed into a poultry
farm at village Mureed some 10 K.M from here and
looted rupees 2500 from poultry farm owner on pistol
point, however one of the accused was nabbed by a
Chowkidar of the neighboring poultry farm while the
other 3 were managed to make good there escape.
Muhmmad Afzal numberdar lodged a report in Sadar
Police Station and told he was sleeping at poultry
farm,4 person armed with pistol trespassed and looted
rupees 2500 cash from him and when dacoits were
fleecing, a chowkidar from the neighboring poultry
farm got hold of a accused namely Javeed Iqbal R/O
Mohallah Sir Pak Chakwal.  The accused pointed out
three other accused and they were Muhammad Akhtar R/O
Mohallah Line Park Chakwal, Nasir Mehmood R/O village
Odherwal and Tajamal Hussain R/O village Bhar pur.
Sadar Police Chakwal registered a case against the
accused and started investigation.

CHAKWAL, 3 NOV: New elected women member District
Council Chakwal took oath on Monday and it was
administer by Civil Judge Chakwal Mr. Jawad Alam
Qureshi.  Ghulam Zohra Malik resident of Thoa Bahadar
contested District Council Election on special women
seats on 2nd August 2001.  She bagged 33 votes while
her opponent Shazia Malik also secured 33 votes.
Returning Officer decided the matter on tass and
Shazia Malik was declared successful.  Ghulam Zohra
Malik filed election petition before Election Tribunal
and chalanged the age of Shazia Malik that was not 25
years as required per law.  Election Tribunal declared
the election of Shazia Malik Null and Void and Ghulam
Zohra Malik was declared was successful.  Shazia Malik
filed an appeal before Lahore High Court but her
appeal was rejected and Lahore High Court upheld the
judgment of Election Tribunal.  Ghulam Zohra Malik was
also an ex-member District Council Chakwal in 1998.

CHAKWAL Nov, 3:            European Union took a
serious notice of the arrest of Chairman of ARD
Makhtoom Jawaid Hashmi and a written letter was handed
over to the Pakistan Government and the rest of
Makhtoom Jawaid Hashmi was condemned. This was stated
by dean of European Union, Mr. Alex Alexander while
talking to the newsmen at the residence of former
provincial minister and leader of Pakistan People
Party, Mrs. Fauziya Behram. Mr. Alexander was of the
view that we had a close look on the controlled
democratic system functioning in Pakistan and we are
monitoring it and hoping that it will would be
improved in near future. Replying to another question,
Mr. Alexander told that we are in favour of return of
Mr. Nawaz Shareef and Baynazir Bhutto, the two former
Prime Ministers and leaders of the biggest political
parties in Pakistan. Mr. Alexander further told that
11 more countries will be included in European Union
by May 2004 and thus the strength of European Union
will be increased up to 25 nations. Mr. Alexander
disclosed that we had provided financial assistance to
Pakistan Government to improve health, education and
provision of basic necessities in remote areas of
Pakistan. Mr. Alexander who visited Katas Raj District
Chakwal and termed it that Pakistan Government was not
paying due attention to preserve the historical
monuments and they are the cultural and historical
heritage of the old civilization. Fauzia Behram served
an Iftar dinner in the honor of Mr. Alex Alexander.

CHAKWAL Nov, 5:            Anti-Corruption Department
Chakwal arrested a corrupt Patwari along with a fake
farmer in a fraudulent case.  Habib-Ullah resident of
Village Sarkal Kassar lodged a complaint that Munshi
Khan got registered his land with his name in the
agriculture Pass Book for a loan with the
collaboration of Halqa Patwari Jamshaid Ali and got
sanctioned the loan.  In its preliminary investigation
charges were proved and a case of fraud, corruption
and forgery was registered against Munshi Khan and
Patwari Jamshaid Ali.

CHAKWAL Nov, 5: First Internet Service Provider of
District Chakwal reduced the rates further and special
package of five rupees per hour was introduced by the
company during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.
The said company has started its operation last month
and offered various lucrative packages for the
Internet users of District Chakwal.  Director Com
Stream Company Ali Abbas told that some more
facilities would be provided to the internet users
after Eid-ul-Fitar.

CHAKWAL Nov, 5: Provincial Minister Punjab Rana
Shamshad Ahmad Khan will visit Chakwal on 6th November
to check the price control of essential commodities
during the month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak.  DCO Chakwal
will brief the minister about the measures taken by
the District Government to check the prices.  The
minister will also preside over the meeting of MNA’s
and MPA’s of District Chakwal and discussed with them
the organizational matter of Pakistan Muslim League.
The minister will also check the Ramzan Bazar that was
organized by the District Government Chakwal.

CHAKWAL Nov, 6: The development program of District
Government Chakwal was further delayed as the newly
appointed EDO Finance and Planning Chakwal has refused
to pass the bills without completing the formalities
required under the law.  EDO Finance and Planning Mian
Arif assumed the charge a month ago and he strictly
applied all the rules and regulations, therefore all
the payments to the contractors, pensioners were
halted and which caused big problem to the people as
well as the District Government Chakwal.  District
Assembly Chakwal had approved various development
schemes from the last two months but these projects
were still in the pipelines causing resentment among
the members among the District Government.  District
Nazim Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas took a serious
notice and warned EDO Finance to make the thing normal
and viable so that the activities of District
Government should not be halted.  EDO while talking to
this correspondent told that all the financial matters
from the last two years of District Government was not
up to the mark and he trying to stream line all the
things and he will act according to the rules and
regulations.  It is learned that District Nazim
Chakwal Sardar Ghulam Abbas was not satisfied with the
attitude of the EDO Finance and directed him to
improve his working.

CHAKWAL Nov, 6: Civil Judge Chakwal not only
dismissed the petition but the Judge also fined rupees
20 thousands to the petitioner as he tried to hide-out
the various facts regarding its petition.  Ghulam
Hassan filed a civil suite in the court of Civil Judge
Muhammad Jawad Alam Qureshi and claimed that he was
the owner of 80 Kanals 2 Marlas land and it was not
inherited property and he had purchased that land.
The court issued the notice to the respondent Munawar
Hussain who told the court that this matter was
already decided in the High Court in 1945 and the
petitioner hide the facts.  The learned Judge
dismissed the civil suite and fined rupees 20,000 to
Ghulam Hassan for concealing the facts.  The court
also issued warrant of arrest of Ghulam Hassan and his
son Abu Zar on the charge that the forged the thumb
impression of two women that were made petitioners of
the same civil suite.  Both father and son were
ordered to appear before the court on 24th November.

CHAKWAL Nov, 6: Additional District and Session
Judge Chakwal Hassan Mabroor ordered the city Police
Station to register a case against the accused Zamir
Hussain who threatened to kill his father Ghulam
Jaffar of mohallah Bhattian Chakwal.  Ghulam Jaffar
submitted an application before the Judge and
contended that his son Zamir Hussain had made his life
miserable and Zamir Hussain threatened him for his
life many times.  The court summoned SHO City Police
Station and asked to submit the report.  The learned
Judge after hearing the argument directed the SHO City
Police Station to registered the case under section
452/506.
