CHAKWAL Nov, 29: The prices of Killen, steel and
cements were touching sky-high, therefore all the
constructions work of Government and private sector
came stands still and most of the Government
contractors have refused to work on the previous
tenders on which they got the work.  The Killen price
were rupees 900 per thousands from two months ago and
now Killen were selling at the rate of rupees 1800.
The construction steel that was available on 1700
rupees per ton some times ago and now it was selling
at the rate of rupees 3200 per ton.  The cement price
was rupees 225 per bag and now its price was enhanced
up to rupees 245.  It is feared that the prices will
further shoot up in the coming days thus making
construction im-possible for common man.  It is
learned that Killen prices was doubled due to shortage
of coal and due to high prices and the supply of coal
was minimized to Punjab Province, therefore the rates
of the coal of Salt Range area becomes double.
However the enhancement of steel rate has no solid
reason.  The contractors and the common people appeal
to the Government to intervene into the matter.
