Four killed, several injured in fresh Israeli strikes on Lebanon   Updated at 2120 PST   BEIRUT: The Israeli army has sent armoured vehicles into south Lebanon as it held its grip on a Lebanese village and massed thousands of troops at the border amid fears of a full-scale ground invasion.

At least four Lebanese were killed and several injured in Israelis’ devastating air blitz on Lebanon Saturday that has so far killed at least 356 people in 11 days of war against the Shiite militant group Hezbollah, striking mobile telephone and television masts.

Around 10 armoured Israeli personnel carriers and bulldozers punched across the border at Avivim, around 35 kilometers (23 miles) from the coast, bypassing an observation post of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.

"This is only a pinpoint operation," army spokesman Captain Jacob Dalal said.
