Message for Mr. Bhatti

Mr. Bhatti, you are our senier person. We repect you. We read your messages about 14th August progrogramme.

First of all we want to put a mirror in front of you and see yourself in that mirror when you did programme of 14th August against Qazi Sahab who was president of PANZ that time. where was PANZ's right that time. In room they were declearing and planing about 14 August programme and in other room you announce and did a seperate programme.

Secondly, we want to made it clear that we have no competition with PANZ, they had not announce the programme properly upto that time, so we cannot let community without programme thats why we announce independence day programme.

But it does not mean we cannot work with them. We wellcome PANZ any time, without any hesitation they can come and talk about it. Our doors are always open.

We request also other peoples aswell, please dont pass comments like dirty polititions with out any confirmation.

Pak comedian Rangeela dies

Lahore :Pakistanâ€™s most celebrated movie comedian, Rangeela, died Tuesday at the age of 74 after a prolonged illness, his family said.

The actor, whose off-screen name was Mohammad Saeed, died in a hospital in the eastern city of Lahore, the hub of Pakistan’s film industry known as Lollywood.

He started his career in 1958 and performed in hundreds of films, becoming the most popular comedian, particularly in Punjabi-language movies.

He leaves behind six sons and eight daughters from three wives, but none of them have followed his footsteps into the film business.

Constitution page 2.

ii.      Powers/Role of Executive Committee.

1.      To monitor, keep an eye on the activities of General Committee & responsible for long term projects.

2.      To evaluate the performance of the General Committee.

3.      To ensure that the activities of the General Committee should be in line with the constitution and for the betterment of the Pakistani Community.

4.      To lay down a time frame for election for the PANZ General Committee, no sooner then 24 months from the last election and not later than 25 months from the last elections.

5.      Act as a neutral election commission and hold free and fair election in given time frame.

6.      Take control of the administrative and legal issues of PANZ i.e Registration, filing of accounts to the Registrar of Companies, ensuring mail box are current and paid.

7.      Take over the charge of all other matters e.g banks accounts etc at least 15 days before the election from the existing body and handover to the new elected body not later then 15 days after election.

8.      Ensuring that the Oath Taking ceremony will take place with in 10 days of the election date.

9.      In the event of General Committee being un-constitutional, the Executive Committee will give a written notice to them signed by all three members and seek a written reply from the General Committee. Only after three such notices with at least 2 weeks interval they would have the right to dissolve the General Committee or if all the members of Executive Committee are agreed that the reply from General Committee is unsatisfactory, they would have the right to dissolve the General Committee and call for new elections within two months time.

10. The Day to Day running of PANZ would not be the responsibility of Executive Committee.

11. The tenor of the Executive Committee is for 3 years and after completion of its tenor the members of Executive committee should get the endorsement in the General Meeting for next term. If they fail to get endorsement an other member will be elected through procedure written above in point 4(a)i-1

THE GENERAL COMMITTEE

The General Committee shall consist of five persons, Who are Pakistani and holds NZ Citizenship or PR, with good reputation having no criminal back ground namely;

i. The PRESIDENT

ii. The Vice PRESIDENT

iii. General Secretary

iv. Joint Secretary

v. Treasurer

Members of the General Committee shall be elected by the members of the Association in a General Meeting and they shall hold office for a term of two years.
An officer of the outgoing General Committee may be eligible for re-election upto two consecutive years for the same position after which one year of waiting period will apply before re-contesting for election.
Three members present in person shall constitute a quorum at General Committee Meetings.
Any member of the General Committee who remain absent with out leave from the three consecutive meetings shall therefore vacate that office. The General Committee may appoint, after getting approval from Executive Committee, some other member to be a member of General Committee.
The President shall be the Chairperson of all the General Committee Meetings as well as Annual General Meeting and Special General Meetings. In the absence of the President the Vice President shall be the Chairperson of the said meetings and in the absence of Vice President the General Sectary will hold the Chair or a General Meeting may elect one of their members as Chairperson for that meeting.
The President mat at any time upon not less than 24 hours notice call a General Committee Meeting.
If there is no quorum present with in half hour after the time fixed for commencement of a meeting of the General Committee the meeting shall stand adjourned to the same say and hour the following week. Those present at such adjourned meeting shall constitute a quorum and shall be competent to transact all business for with the meeting was called.
Voting at General Committee Meetings shall be by show of hands, each member of the general meeting shall be entitled to record only one vote.
The General Committee shall have power to delegate to any of its members for any specified purpose such powers it may deem necessary. It shall also have the power to form sub-committees should it deem necessary.
Election Criteria for General Committee: The elections should be panel based. Each Panel consist of 5 persons as mentioned in point 5(a). Vote is for the panel and not for individuals. Each panel should submit his application & fee to Executive Committee before the date announced by Executive Committee. One member can cast only one vote for the panel.

MEMBERSHIP
1. Every Pakistani above age of 18 years residing in New Zealand will be eligible for membership.
2. Associate members: Membership is open to others as associate members subject to the condition that they respect the objectives of the association. Associate members do not have voting rights. They can however, give suggestions pertaining to the activities and operations procedures of the association.
3. Any eligible person for membership may apply by lodging an application along with the acceptance of membership terms & conditions with the appropriate application fee with the General Secretary.
4. The General Committee does reserve the right to accept or reject the application.

RULES REGARDING THE MANNER IN WHICH MEMBERS CEASE TO BE MEMBERS:
1. Resignation: A member may resign from the organization by giving notice in writing of resignation to the Secretary.
2. Suspension/Expulsion: If any particular member has acted in a way that is harmful, damaging to the Society and the General Committee requests to Executive Committee for the suspension / Expulsion of that member. The Executive Committee is empowered to do so.

RULES REGARDING MEETINGS:
1. General Meetings:

i. Discuss General Business

ii. Receive reports from sub committees as to the activities and finances of the Association.

iii. Decide on any matter affecting the Society.

iv. Set policy for the next move.

v. The meeting will be open to all members.

Special General Meetings:

i. The General Committee or Executive Committee may request a Special General Meeting at any time by giving notice to the secretary stating the reason.

ii. The Secretary will give notice of a Special General Meeting no later than seven days after receiving the request.

Annual General Meetings:

i. The Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be held on a date fixed by the General Committee as soon as it can be conveniently arranged after the end of the financial year of the Association for the following purposes

1. To receive the Annual Report and Statement of Accounts for the proceeding year duly audited.

2. To elect members of the General Committee for the ensuing year.

3. The consideration of any other business with the permission of Chairperson.

At least seven days notice of the date of such meeting shall be given by post by the secretary to members and a copy of such notice shall be posted at the registered office.

QUORUM
1. At any General Meeting of the Association there shall be not less than one third of the members in person in order to form a quorum.
2. If there is no quorum present within half an hour after the time fixed for commencement of the meeting, the meeting shall stand adjourned to the same day and hour the following week. Those present at such adjourned meetings shall be competent to transact all the business for which the meeting was called.
3. Voting shall be by secret ballot papers.

WINDING UP OR DISSOLUTION.
1. The Association may be wound up voluntarily if at a General Meeting of its members a resolution was passed requiring the association to be wound up, and the resolution is confirmed at the subsequent General Meeting called by together for that purpose and held not earlier than thirty days after the date on which the resolution so to be confirmed was passed.
2. Any property belonging to the Association on a voluntary winging up and all the property of the Association in the event of dissolution by the registrar shall subject to the payment there out of any debts and liabilities of the Association be deposited with Pakistan Embassy until another Association with similar aims is formed. Any remaining funds will be handed over to such an Association.

ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS TO THE CONSTITUTION:
1. This constitution shall not be altered, added or amended except by resolution at a General Meeting of the Association. The fact that any alteration, addition or amendment will me moved and the general purport there of shall be stated in the notice calling the meeting, but it shall not be necessary to sort out the exact from thereof so long as the exact from of the proposed alteration, addition or rescission shall be posted to the secretary at least fourteen days before the meeting.
2. No Alternation or cancellation will be made to this constitution that is in conflict with the aims and objectives of the Association.

COMMON SEAL
1. The Common seal should be in the custody of the General Secretary and shall not be used except with the authority of the General Committee. When the seal is used it will be signed by the President and one of General Committee Members. In the absence/leave of President, the General Secretary has the right to sign along with one member of general committee.

CONTROL OF FUNDS
1. All funds received by the Association will be paid into its bank account.
2. All Cheques and withdrawal slips drawn on the Association account will be signed by Treasurer and one of President or General Secretary.

GENERAL
1. All Complaints shall be made in writing to the General Secretary of the Association.

EVERY member shall be bound by and observe the constitution and by laws of the Association.

IF any dispute or doubt shall arise as to the construction or interpretation of this constitution or any apart thereof such dispute or doubt shall be determined by the decision of Executive Committee members. The Executive committee shall also have the power to determine any matter which may arise which is not covered by this constitution.

NAME: The name of the Society shall be “Pakistan Association of New Zealand Incorporated”. Hereinafter referred to as the “Association”.

OBJECTIVES:
1. To promote better communication and liaison between the people of Pakistan in New Zealand.
2. To promote better communication and understanding between the association and government and its government departments, local authorities, other groups and individuals for the benefit of Pakistani People in New Zealand.
3. To promote and encourage Pakistanis to be proud of their custom, language, culture and values.
4. To coordinate and assist the efforts of the Pakistani community throughout New Zealand for the progress and development and the betterment of the said community.
5. To make such representation to government or government organizations both non and statutory as required in the fulfillment of the association’s objectives.
6. To take any gift or property whether or not subject to any trust for one or more objects of the Association. To construct and maintain or alter any houses, building or works necessary or expedient for the purpose of the Association.
7. To manage, lease, mortgage, sell or otherwise deal with all or part of the Association’s property.
8. To take such steps by personal or written appeals, public meetings or otherwise as from time to time may be deemed expedient for the objective of the Association and to procure contributions to the funds of the Association in the form of grants, donation, contributions, annual subscriptions or otherwise.
9. To invest any money of the Association not immediately required for any of its objectives in such manner as may from time to time be determined.
10. To generate an emergency relief fund like funeral fund, in order to help the Pakistani People in case of emergency.
11. To arrange cultural programs, celebrate national functions for the Pakistani Community.
12. To coordinate and actively participate in the programs of other communities or organizations.
13. To guide / help out /support / assist the incoming Pakistani (s) migrating to New Zealand.
14. To do all such other lawful things as may be deemed incidental or conducive to the attainment of or all the above objectives.

FUNDS
1. The Association is entitled to generate funds by getting donations to achieve their objectives.
2. The Association is entitled to start any lawful business activity to generate funds from its profits.
3. The Association is entitled to invest its money in any project to generate income, to invest surplus money into any Bank or investment company.
4. The Association is entitled to borrow money from any person, organization, or financial institution.
5. The Association is entitled to charge membership fee on Annual basis from its members

THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.
                                                               i.      Selection Criteria of Executive Committee Members

1.      In the 1^st general meeting of Association the members will elect the 3 members for the Member Executive Committee by showing their hands for support.

2.      The current members of the Executive Committee are not entitled to contest in the election of General Committee.

3.      If one member of the Executive Committee Resigned or died the Rest two of the Executive members has the powers to select an other member of the Association as the Member of Executive Committee.

4.      If two or all members resigned or died then the selection of the Executive Committee Members will be done by calling Special General Meeting.

Membership update of PANZ.

New Membership in year 2005 with me was 41, which I announced in the big meeting last sunday, I am agree with this statement of yours, But It does not include the members of Year 2004 of Last PANZ which was 91, Which is not expired yet, But will need renewal before the end of this year, Its on the record, And the people who attended last AGM are well awared of it. Since we put the message on the PANZ website for membership renewal we are recieving a very good response from the people, Just today I got 5 more applications for membership And being a Pakistani every one should be proude that membership numbers are growing. I request all the community to renew their membership to update all the records.

Big Meeting report

Last Sunday an important meeting was held at the residence of Mr Choudhry Nadeem Ashraf. This meeting was organised by my self and Fayaz

khan and the objective of the meeting was to make everybody realise the importance of keeping each and every member go along comfortably and with efficiency. PANZ, PWCS, Pak Kiwi friendship and Pakistani Business community were the main participants. Few important decisions were made. Everybody confessed that we Pakistanies lack UNITY and we should be like a single giant body. Every member was heared in this pleasant environment. The main decision that was made was that PANZ will ask for applications for its two empty positions. 25th of May was announced as the last date for the submission of applications for the post of PRESIDENT and JOINT SECRETARY. Remaining three designatories of PANZ will look after the application and selection process.

Also a sub-commettee was formed ( Zeb Mohammad, sabir Cheema, Mateen Siddiqui, Waqar Ali, Nadeem Ashraf, Javed Malik, Fayaz Khan and Naveed Hamid)
whose duty was to negotiate with PANZ and PWCS to Celebrate Independence day in a single programme. To make arrangements regarding President Musharraf's Visit to Auckland and to gather community at one plateform was also among the tasks of the said comettee.

PANZ meeting with Touqir KHAN Saheb.

PANZ had a meeting with Mr. Touqir Khan saheb and discussed various issues. This was a part of meetings which PANZ has started to get ideas of PANZ X- Leaders. PANZ will be also having some other important meetings and soon PANZ will call a general meeting to get the ideas of experianced people who worked for PANZ in past, This process is the part of programe to finalise President visit and to Unite the community. Mr. Touqir Khan said that He is always available to help PANZ in any issue with out any position in the PANZ. Mr. Touqir Khan also said that President of Pakistan should be respected in NZ as he is The President of our country, And we should be the one to look at the country image in these situation. PANZ thanked Mr. Touqir Khan for his time and support.

PANZ LATEST REPORTS NEW PRESIDENT

PANZ President has Resigned.

An important meeting of General Committee Pakistan Association of New Zealand was held on 20th May 2005 and discussed the various issues that came up in the last few weeks. The committee discussed the resignations of PANZ President Mr. Sohail Khan who had expressed his inability of carrying on his portfolio because of health reasons. He was continuously asking PANZ General Committee to relieve him from his duties for the past few months. Consequently Executive Committee had accepted the resignation few days back. Vice President Ch. Mazhar Hussain has been appointed as the president of the organization according to the constitution. The General Committee also discussed the resignation of the Joint Secretary Taj Sheikh who also wished to leave because of his hectic employment schedule.

The Committee also decided the following:
PANZ is seeking applications from interested individuals to fill the two vacant positions. The individuals should be highly motivated for community development and should have plenty of time to fulfill their relevant duties. It should be noted that the positions are task based and need committed people preferably with good qualification and community-oriented approach. The last date of receiving application (with detailed CV) is Wednesday May 25, 2005 until 8 PM. Also note the PANZ General Committee people are those

Preparations for the President Parvez Musharraf Visit

Pakistan Association of New Zealand Meeting to Unite the wider Pakistani Community and start Preparations for the President Parvez Musharraf Visit.

Pakistan association organized an important meeting, PANZ General committee members Ch Mazhar, Imtiaz.R.khan, Haroon Ahmad, Executives Zeb Mohammad, sabir Cheema, Mateen Siddiqui, PWCS Members and other respectable members of community attended.

PANZ have decided to appoint a Sub Committee to help PANZ in coordinating the President Visit preparations and 14th August Pakistan Independence day. The committee will also look into the possibilities of working together with PWCS with respect to 14th Aug programs.

The Sub Committee members appointed are as follows.

Ch Mazhar, Imtiaz.R.khan, Haroon Ahmad, Zeb Mohammad, sabir Cheema, Mateen Siddiqui, Waqar Ali, Nadeem Ashraf, Javed Malik, Fayaz Khan and Naveed Hamid.

The next meeting of this committee will be on Sunday to further the discussions.

Meeting with the foreign Minister of Pakistan Mr. Khurshid Kasuri saheb:

Panz meeting was held with Mr. Kasuri the Foreign Minister of Pakistan 6 members attended the meeting President Mr. Sohail Khan, G.Sec Imtiaz khan, Finance sec Haroon Ahmad and Executives Mateen Siddiqui, Zeb Mohammad, Sabir Cheema.

G.Sec Imtiaz Handed over a brief intro of Pakistani community in Auckland, and PANZ. Which include introduction and history of PANZ in New Zealand. Constitution and work as well as the Pakistani population in Auckland, Minister was informed that 90% of Pakistanis are living in Auckland.

After this the issues were discussed which were include.

Working Status Restoration of New Zealand Consulate Gen in Karachi. Establishment of Pakistani consulate office in Auckland.
To Resolve the postal problems courier return etc. from Pakistan High Commission in Canberra. Also the method of Payment to be considered so credit cards payments can be accepted by the high commission.
Relaxation in international student visa policy for Pakistanis coming to NZ
Build up Pakistan's image in New Zealand.

At this moment PANZ G.S Imtiaz handed over the cartoon published by Manukau courier about the image of Pakistan Bangkok visa office closed.

G.sec imtiaz Khan had a one to one meeting with the High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Babar Malik.

In this meeting many issues were discussed. The high commissioner said that we all Pakistanis should be United on one
platform to build the image of Pakistan overseas, they also discussed the President on coming visit to Auckland, The G.s also made a request for
public meeting with the President in Auckland. Which was accepted PANZ has started their arrangements for this meeting.

More details coming on the above meetings. Which will be include the meeting with the Director of Foreign affair Mr. Khalid. Also the Question and answer session.

Salam Billa.G Some news for Sohni Dharti. Thank you. 1. An important meeting of General Committee Pakistan Association of New Zealand was held on 20th May 2005 and discussed the various issues that came up in the last few weeks. The committee discussed the resignations of PANZ President Mr. Sohail Khan who had expressed his inability of carrying on his portfolio because of health reasons. He was continuously asking PANZ General Committee to relieve him from his duties for the past few months. Consequently Executive Committee had accepted the resignation few days back. Vice President Ch. Mazhar Hussain has been appointed as the president of the organization according to the constitution. The General Committee also discussed the resignation of the Joint Secretary Taj Sheikh who also wished to leave because of his hectic employment schedule. The Committee also decided the following â€¢ PANZ is seeking applications from interested individuals to fill the two vacant positions. The individuals should be highly motivated for community development and should have plenty of time to fulfill their relevant duties. It should be noted that the positions are task based and need committed people preferably with good qualification and community-oriented approach. The last date of receiving application (with detailed CV) is Wednesday May 25, 2005 until 8 PM. Pakistan Association of New Zealand Meeting to Unite the wider Pakistani Community and start Preparations for the President Parvez Musharraf Visit. Pakistan association organized an important meeting, PANZ General committee members Ch Mazhar, Imtiaz.R.khan, Haroon Ahmad, Executives Zeb Mohammad, sabir Cheema, Mateen Siddiqui, PWCS Members and other respectable members of community attended. PANZ have decided to appoint a Sub Committee to help PANZ in coordinating the President Visit preparations and 14th August Pakistan Independence day. The committee will also look into the possibilities of working together with PWCS with respect to 14th Aug programs. The Sub Committee members appointed are as follows. Ch Mazhar, Imtiaz.R.khan, Haroon Ahmad, Zeb Mohammad, sabir Cheema, Mateen Siddiqui, Waqar Ali, Nadeem Ashraf, Javed Malik, Fayaz Khan and Naveed Hamid. The next meeting of this committee will be on Sunday to further the discussions.
