Two news items from Chakwal.

CHAKWAL Nov 11: Additional District and session Judge Chakwal Sohail Nasir
acquitted a married couple booked by Choa Sedan Shah police Station under
hadood ordinance case. According to the prosecution Rab Nawaz s/o Sher Zaman
resident of Rawalpindi road Chakwal had second marriage with Munawar Sultana
as he was already married to the elder sister of Munawar Sultana without
divorcing her. The brother of Munawar Sultana, Ghulam Mohammad s/o Mohammad
Khan resident of village Karyala lodged a report in the police station and a
case was registered against the couple. During the hearing Saeeda Begam the
ex wife of Rab Nawaz recorded her statement before the court and told that
Rab Nawaz had divorced her and the second marriage of Rab Nawaz with her
younger sister Munawar Sultana was correct. The judge after recording the
statement acquitted Rab Nawaz and Munawar Sultana.

CHAKWAL Nov 11: Punjab Government has approved the widening and improvement
of Chakwal Balkassar 18 Km road. 29.78 million rupees would be spent on this
project and it would be completed in 1 year time. Punjab Government also
approved Sikriala to Lattifal road and one and a half Km road would be
completed with the cost of rupees 1.5 million. This project would be
completed in six months. Punjab highway department Chakwal Division issued
the tender of both these projects. It is worth mentioning here that Chakwal
to Balkassar Road would be linked with Balkassar Motorway Interchange and
thus more facilities would be available for the people traveling on Lahore
Islamabad motorway up to Chakwal city.
