14 August has special significance in our lives… a day when we free became from yoke of slavery and domination and started living as an Independent nation. Since then this day has become part of our blood and soul whether we are in Pakistan or overseas.   To keep it an integral part of ours and next generation’s memory, it is vital to keep alive the spirit of celebrating the Independence Day with fervor. Pakistan Association of New Zealand is one such link that connects you and your family to the roots and soil we all belong to. So whether you are businessman, doing some job or driving a taxi, your presence in War Memorial Hall Mt. Eden is a tribute to yourself and your freedom. 14 August comes once in a year, don’t waste it in pursuit of something else or in coziness of your drawing room. Spare it in the name of freedom and keep connected to your homeland. We will be waiting for you at   Day: 14 August 2003 Place: Mt. Eden War Memorial Hall Time: 6pm For further information you can contact us on 0272786824 0r 0272737903.   Pakistan Association of New Zealand

Dear Zubair Saleem (BILLA)   Pakistan Association of New Zealand thanks God for making us capable enough to hold Independence Day Programme in a manner that most of you enjoyed it to the end. We appreciate your passion for Pakistan and understand that your presence in the hall was a tribute to your country and culture. We hope to have your continuous cooperation in events scheduled for rest of our duration.   What you have seen on the stage of War Memorial Hall Mt. Eden on 14th of August was not something done in day or two, it took more than a month to search and prepare the new talent, rehearse them according to the needs and work out details from bottom to the top. We are truly indebted to the dedicated team of volunteers and artists who contributed their time and efforts in bringing out a programme of historic proportions. Their involvement with us was encouraging and morale boosting all the times.   We also appreciate the cooperation of PWCS in this programme. It was delightful experience to work with Munawar Khan, Nasir, Ali, Amir and Mirza Nadeem OF PWCS. PANZ and PWCS will stand shoulder to shoulder even in future times.   We also tried our best to get every body in the hall (irrespective of their affiliations and groups) as a mark of unity and oneness and you should have noticed no one among the notable was missing. We are thankful to all of them for being one under the roof of Independence Day.   We are sorry if you found some weak aspects in this programme and would like to hear about it so that nothing such like may happen in coming times.     Thank you again   Best Regards   Shahid Azad Vice President Pakistan Association of New Zealand
